Both my daughters went to Eastern Hills Christian Academy, and one is currently still going there. I love this school because the staff here truly love my daughters. The atmosphere is very positive and conducive for learning. This allows the children at this school to not just survive school but thrive. My daughter loves going to school. I am amazed at quality of teaching and especially the teaching and memorizing of Gods Word that is woven in the curriculum. I highly recommend Eastern Hills Christian Academy, it is the best school that I have ever seen in my 50 years of life.

We have such a wonderful community within Eastern Hills and we are so grateful for each teacher and staff member. My children have attended EHCA for the past 3 years and this school has helped to shape our kid's character and have pointed them towards Christ. It is evident that the teachers and staff enjoy their jobs. This is seen in the way that they love and care for our kids. We also love the curriculum and extra curricular opportunities, such as sports.

They really care about each student and their needs. The gospel, the love of Christ and an authentic Christian culture are central to everything this school does. This is our familys #1 choice for a Christian elementary and middle school in Albuquerque.

As a parent of an 8th grader, my child has been given so many wonderful opportunities at Eastern Hills Christian Academy which have helped him grow and mature into a young man that loves learning and serving his community. He has been going to this school since he was in preschool and it has had a hand in shaping him into the amazing young man hes becoming. EHCA teachers and staff are teaching him the academics he needs and also how to think compassionately and logically through any situation. My older son also attended EHCA previously, and he was well prepared for the challenges and expectations in high school.

Eastern Hill Christian Academy (EHCA) prepared my daughters for success in all areas: academically, spiritually, athletically, and socially. The licensed/certified teachers and staff at EHCA genuinely care about each student and see their job as a calling/ministry. As a parent, I had no concerns about my girls entering an APS public high school because their faith truly became their own, in large part due to EHCA's quality biblical instruction. Both girls graduated 8th grade having completed Algebra 1, allowing them to take geometry as 9th graders. They also qualified for 9th grade Honors English. In addition, they participated in the EHCA APIAL athletic program, playing volleyball, basketball and archery. The level of competition afforded them the experience they needed to make the high school volleyball team. The after-school Drama Club, also helped them conquer their fear of public performance, while having fun, too. I highly recommend EHCA at every level, preschool through 8th!

The rigorous academic program has set her up for middle school. She enjoys the extra curricular activities as well. I tell all my friends about EHCA!

I am thrilled to share my experience at Eastern Hills Christian Academy! My son started attending preschool and is currently in Kinder. This school provides an exceptional learning environment that prioritizes academic proficiency while fostering a strong sense of community. One of the standout features of Eastern Hills is its small class sizes and ability to differentiate for various learners, in addition, the campus is very secure!
Our son is thriving and loves to come to school! We could not be more happy with the education and community at Eastern Hills!

We are extremely pleased with this school. The music program is amazing with an incredible music teacher full of talent and passion. The school is small but also has this warm loving environment by every single teacher/ staff person. I am also pleased that kindness is continuously reiterated resulting in a safe environment for everyone to learn. Our daughter is thriving. The standardized tests are above and beyond many schools in Albuquerque. Totally recommend.

We feel so fortunate to be at EHCA! Our sons are happy every day and enjoy going to school. The communication is excellent from classroom teachers and the administration. The community feel and family events makes all the difference for us as parents. Our boys are challenged academically and the security of this school is completely top notch. The extra classroom activities the teachers come up with keep the kids engaged and excited about learning. We are so thankful to attend this school and appreciate their focus on discipline, along with treating all with kindness and respect.

We have enjoyed the connections we and our children have made with other friends, families, and the wonderful staff. Our older daughter is excited for middle school especially because of the amazing teachers. If there are struggles within academics I have appreciated the exceptional communication of the teachers. I also appreciate the safe community.

We have loved the teachers in first and second grade and I have heard the same about the grades we have not gotten to yet. They take advantage of the class sizes to expand the learning material and it shows in the academics. Our child has thrived in the classroom as a person and a student. The teachers are positive and great influences - they are the type of people you want teaching your children.

We feel so fortunate to have found EHCA! Our son is simply thriving academically, growing spiritually and is so happy everyday. EHCA takes full advantage of the class sizes and the individual attention each student receives is unmatched. The robust curriculum features accelerated reading and math programs that allow your child to move along at a challenging and rewarding pace. The supervision, discipline and weekly communication from the teachers helps tremendously. The teachers are very experienced and extremely dedicated in creating a fun and exciting learning environment. We are really happy with the well-rounded "pull outs" EHCA provides: PE and music twice a week, art every other week and Spanish and Bible weekly. The elementary day is structured to provide ample recess time (3 recesses!) and students also enjoy a full 30-minute lunch break. The very best part of EHCA though, is Mrs. Camille Miller, the stellar Administrator. Her friendly and welcoming demeanor, poise, leadership, faithfulness and calming presence is felt all throughout the school. She has created an incredible culture of kindness, respect and most importantly a true love of God and learning.

We are military family and have lived all over the country. I make it a priority to research schools when I find out we are moving to a new location. We chose Eastern Hills for several reasons; it is a Christ-centered school, it offers advanced reading and math programs, as well as Spanish, Music, P.E. and many after school activities, like chess, computer, drama, sewing and much more. From a safety standpoint, sending our kids to a safe and secure facility was of the utmost importance. The doors are always locked and a school-approved badge is required to open the doors. I love the small class sizes and I will be forever grateful to the teachers, staff and administrators who love my children and who give of their best in the classroom each day. We could not have found a better school in all of Albuquerque to send them to than Eastern Hills Christian Academy.

Having moved from Texas where our son attended an amazing Christian and academically strong school, we were not disappointed in Eastern. We have been welcomed and impressed with the academic curriculum as well as the Christian teachings. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and very friendly. Classrooms are small enough that the children receive the instruction needed to excel in class.
Posted: January 15, 2020
Eastern Hills gives an acceptable amount of homework for each grade level. The homework is always a reinforcement to what they have learned at school.
Posted: January 15, 2020
All of the teachers and administration from preschool-8th grade are so kind and loving towards the children. They provide the children with a classroom that is centered on God while providing them with a strong academic foundation. My children have benefited from the small class sizes because the teacher is able to provide them with one on one help when they are struggling.
Posted: January 15, 2020
Camille Miller has been a wonderful principal for many years at Eastern Hills. She takes the time to know the children and their families and her door is always open.
Posted: January 15, 2020
The teachers and administrators teach the children kindness and respect, not only to adults, but to each other.
Posted: January 15, 2020
My child has been diagnosed with a learning difficulty and Eastern Hills has been very willing to make accommodations to help her feel successful. The small class size allows for teachers to help students that need extra assistance and provide them with one on one instruction.
Posted: January 15, 2020
The teachers and administration take bullying very seriously. Whenever a child or parent voices a concern about another child, the teachers act on it immediately and bring Mrs. Miller into the conversation if needed.

I have two children that have gone to Eastern Hills since preschool. I could not ask for a more loving, academically strong environment for them to be a part of. They love their teachers and friends and enjoy coming to school everyday. I appreciate the biblical foundation that Eastern Hills is providing my children and pray they will carry it with them into high school. I highly recommend Eastern Hills to anyone that asks.

EHCA is an exceptional school and we are so satisfied we would not consider another school for him. EHCA is hands down the best elementary / middle school in New Mexico.

Teachers are great at communicating. If there is a big project due in another class the teachers are cognizant of that and ageist homework load accordingly.

My two children, second grader and kindergartener, have been attending Eastern Hills since pre-school. Throughout these years, my love and faith in the community and the teachers of the school have only strengthened. They entire staff of the school has created a phenomenal educational program, a safe environment, and a culture where every child is cherished for who they are. The small class sizes allow for teachers to give individualized attention to every child, allows them to grow and excel at their strengths, and engages parents for an inclusive environment. The administrator, Camille Miller, has a genuine passion for seeing every child grow in their faith and love to learn. This is the best faith-based, small school learning environment in Albuquerque.

We have been at EHCA for 7 years after moving our oldest child here in 2nd grade from another independent school. We now have children in 8th, 4th and 2nd grades. Our experience has been amazing - our children are thriving academically and socially. The families here are kind, well-educated and involved and their children are the same - well-mannered and inclusive. From the minute we pull up to the school everyone knows our children and cares about them - Mrs. Miller opens our door and welcomes everyone and asks about their sporting events, Ms. Cynthia in the office greets everyone with a big "hello," and up and down the halls the teachers and parents are greeting one another by name. The teachers at EHCA all have at least Bachelors degrees, many with Masters (I saw another post that said they didn't which isn't true - it lists them right on the website). And the academics are excellent. We love that they have Spanish, PE, art and music in classrooms, not portables. While our children are good students, their test scores are outstanding and we believe that comes back to the teachers and curriculum. Our oldest child is doing high school Algebra in 8th grade and all 3 read far above grade level. At the middle school they have a science lab where they create chemical reactions (we've seen some weird stuff come home). And they've done circuits and robotics in 2nd grade. Aside from the outstanding education, we feel truly blessed to hear our children say "school is fun" - if they can't be with us those 7 hours every day, we want to know they're in a school where they are happy, safe, and feel cared about.

We moved to this school from another private school for the curriculum. Our son attends the middle school. It is an exciting place with very creative academics. Our son loves all the science experimentation and art, while he is pushed academically in language and math. I find the social studies refreshing as well, as it is very interactive. The school is a very safe environment. We love this place and I would choose it again.
We aren't Baptist and feel perfectly at home. The teachers are dedicated and I gather of mixed Christian denominations. Christian values and principles are taught, not preached. The kids appear well behaved. The teachers are quite accessible.
The middle school campus is especially appealing, having the feel of a miniature college campus, going from room to room and with a common area. It is laid out so nicely. The school is very well kept.
This school deserves a visit from any parents desiring competitive, creative academics in a nurturing environment.

Fantastic teachers, to a man, is what we have found. No complaints. They are pushing each kid at just the right amount it seems.
Posted: August 28, 2015
The amount of take home work is about right. They do have study hall times when they can complete much work.

Eastern Hill Christian Academy is an amazing school that has great Teachers and Principals. My children have been at the school since Pre-K and they are now in 7th and 4th grade. The Teachers work closely with the children and ensure they are grasping what they teach. The school utilizes RenWeb which is a website that contains information you need to know about the school, homework, grades, etc. The school teachers the children to be responsible for their actions, school supplies/books and homework and are given responsibility points for being responsible and take them away if they are not responsible. They have plenty of programs the children can join such as golf, basketball, volleyball, drama, etc. The middle school has groups of students who go out into the community to help those in need which is very rewarding to the children. The Pastor at the school is a such a wonderful person, he really helps the children to grow in their faith and learn how to deal with life's challenges. They have Advanced Reading/Math to help the children to excel. My daughter is a year ahead in math and 4 years ahead in reading. This is an outstanding school and I wish they had a HS.

Our son has been at Eastern Hills Christian Academy for two years and we all LOVE it! From the moment I walked through the doors for a tour, I knew this was a perfect place to raise our kids - welcoming, friendly, understanding, concerned about our worries, the most friendly, wonderful teachers I've seen anywhere. I would and do recommend Eastern Hills to anyone with school age kids.

Our daughter has attended Eastern Hills for four years. Our experience there has been superlative; she has been challenged academically, and has benefitted from the music and art programs. She had attended a different Christian-based kindergarten and preschool, and we were determined to send her to S.Y. Jackson, a great APS school in our school district, when she was to enter elementary. But as the time grew near, and after some soul-searching, we realized that staying within a Christian-school, and out of the secular APS, was what we absolutely had to do. Matters of discipline, respect for others, self-control, these were the issues ruling our decision, not so much the Christian-orientation, per se --though that was contributing factor. In the time since, we have been so very thankful we made the commitment to Eastern Hills. In sum, I highly recommend this school, and am perplexed by the negative comments found in a few of the other reviews. My family does not attend Eastern Hills Baptist, and we ve completely welcome and at home within the school s community.

Some advantages of Eastern Hills Christian School: 1- Excellent Leadership (Principal Miller knows every child by name) 2- Affordable Tuition (about $500 per student per month) 3- Before Care & After Care is safe/reliable and has good teacher to student ratios 4- Advanced Reading- My daughters read 2-3 grades beyond their level. This program promotes the joy of reading--and students can excel and are rewarded based on number of books read and comprehension with a pizza date with the principal. 5- Small class sizes- 12-16 students (kids get excellent attention) 6- Experienced teachers--low turnover 7- Spanish, Art, Music, and PE-these clases are a priority 8- The school is open to a wide array of Christian denominations A few things to consider: 1- The facility is nothing fancy, but adequate 2- The school is conservative theologically and politically. This plays out in science class. 3- The middle school decreases in size significantly after 6th grade. I give EHCA 5 stars. They care about kids and want to see them excel.

It's a safe, Christian school with a loving staff! I highly recommend it! Preschool-8th grade

EHCA is an excellent school that provides students with a great education with a Christian foundation. Between our two sons, we have experienced EHCA from the pre-school through the middle school. The teachers and other faculty really care about the kids beyond just their learning experiences. It is a family-like environment. The class sizes are ideal with typically no more than 14-15 students per class. This allows for the teachers to have more individualized time with the students and focus on their needs. The curriculum has prepared the children well and that is reflected in their testing scores, which are consistently higher than the national average. We have been very pleased with the school and would highly recommend it to other families.

Eastern Hills Christian School is the best kept secret in Albuquerque. Our family has been at EHCA's elementary school. Under the leadership of Camille Miller, the staff and students are held to the highest standards academically and spiritually. Each year, our daughter's teacher has been more fabulous than the previous, and teacher/administration/parent communication is excellent. Mrs. Miller personally greets each child and their family at drop off every day. She and the staff know and pray for every child. Our daughter, at the tender age of eight, is confident enough spiritually to ask her teachers for prayer. Data from standardized test scores is available for your review. Mrs. Miller will provide summary and comparison data for the Terra Nova. If your family is searching for an elementary or middle school with small class sizes, high parent involvement, excellent standardized test scores, and a loving environment that prioritizes providing a Biblical foundation for every child, you simply must consider EHCA. Finally, I have read the three "unsatisfactory" and "below average" reviews for EHCA on this web site. Their remarks are completely out of character for the school.

Eastern Hills Academy is such a wonderful school! We are new to the school and everyone has been very warm & welcoming towards our entire family. Our children have met many new friends who are also intelligent, kind, and well mannered. The academics are held to a much higher standard than public schools. Actually, they compare with other private schools that charge the highest tuition in the city. We are extremely pleased with our decision to come to Eastern Hills!

Our oldest child attended pre-school thru 8th grade, currently we have a 3rd grader and pre-k student at Eastern Hills. Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. After graduating from Eastern Hills, our eldest child attends a competitive high school, is in the top of her class, is graduating with honors, and was awarded a rich scholarship to a top university. She attributes her success in high school to the academic preparation Eastern Hills offered. The smaller classes enable the teachers to hold the students accountable for their work and the students don't get lost in the system. The administration is direct, but fair and holds parents accountable as well. It offers a very loving, safe environment, student supporting students.

I have 3 children that have attended EHCA. Two of them are currently attending... One is in the elementary & one in the middle school. My oldest already graduated last year from the middle school, and is now off to public high school. But she has attended EHCA since pre-school. I recommend this school to everyone because my experience for the past 11 years has been great. I feel that my oldest is now well equipped to be in public HS. She's in honor classes & is well equipped academically, socially & spiritually. Our kids need all 3 to truly succeed in life. They need to be equipped with strong academics but also with a strong Godly character. I find that crucial especially in the kind of world we live in today!

Long ago before they expanded this was a good school..it is no longer. Many teachers arent certified but I guess that is OK in NM? Kids kicked out of public school routinely end up showing up for a few weeks until kicked out yet again. .

Our family has been at Eastern Hills for four years now. Both our children started when they were three years old. We are very pleased with our children's experience. The classes are small, parent involvement is highly encouraged, teachers and staff are very accessible, and tuition is kept fairly reasonable through many fundraisers throughout the year. We are not members of EHBC and have never once been discriminated against, as one reviewer claimed. They are open to all denominations and you do not even need to have a home church to be accepted. Christian values are taught throughout and children are encouraged in self-discipline and good citizenship. I highly recommend Eastern Hills Christian Academy to anyone looking for a quality private school.

Wrote my first review of this school (1-11-08) when I had a 3rd grader. That child is now in 7th grade and I another child in 3rd. Feel even more strongly about school creating an environment that stresses academics without stress and pressures at other schools. Both children enjoy school, their teachers and friends. We are not Baptist and don't attend Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Teachers are Christian but of mixed Christian denominations. Christian priniciples are taught and valued but not preached. I have witnessed unacceptable behavior of students being dealt with immediately. Disrespect to a teacher/ fellow student is not tolerated. There is 100% access to teachers. Middle school campus is a secret gem - it feels like a mini college campus. There is a commons area - brand new beautiful bathrooms - large outdoor area in the back with new basketball hoops. True- lunches leave something to be desired- they're contracted through a company providing lunches to many schools. Wish more parents demanded better food. Kids not forced to buy lunch, we prefer to pack sack lunches. No school is for everyone. If you're looking...this one deserves a visit. Submitted by a parent

My daughter went to kindergarten at Eastern Hills last year (2010-11) We were so pleased! low teacher/student ratio, excellent curriculum and a nurturing environment from all the staff and parents. We will continue to have her go!

Amazing school!! We move a lot and my children have attended several different christian schools. This academy is by far the best in every area. EHCA has highly qualified and loving teachers. Administration, teachers and parents all work together as a team! EHCA is the best christian school in Albuquerque!!!

I have two girls at EHCA. I am very pleased. Academics are excellent. My older daughter has scored consistently above 95% on all subjects on yearly standardized test. My young daughter is given books to read at her current level which is above her grade level. You have open access to teachers, administrators, classrooms. Whenever I have a question, they are willing and able to answer and address your concerns. Most importantly I know my daughters are in a wonderful Christian environment that operates in a spirit of love and grace. I know that if I ever have a question or a problem, I will be heard and treated with love and respect. I am so thankful that we are at EHCA.
