No sports, no art, have been promising for years to open the gym but it remains unfinished. The tall building next door is not owned by the school. Potential buyers have been an apartment complex or the church of Scientology.

Administration cares more about money than they do about students. They preach about maintaining Christian morals but then didn't know how to practice the most important principle- love.

This school used to be one of the best schools in Albuquerque and that is why we came back, but the standard has since declined. For the money that they charge they should invest more in sports, music, arts and more qualified teachers. Please make improvements.

They just sent loads of home work without proper guidance and time to complete it
Posted: July 2, 2019
Please hire more teachers. With all the money they get, the administration need to invest in more qualified teachers

The leadership only cares about money. They need to invest in the students and the school

I watched the students interact with each other many times and when behavior was inappropriate the matter was handled immediately and with care and concern.

Teachers are dedicated to making sure students are prepared if they decide to go off to college and homework is a huge part of that.
Posted: May 22, 2019
Many of the teachers use creative and loving methods to reach hard to deal with kids. I have seen nothing but love and caring used even in discipline.
Posted: May 22, 2019
I have never seen anything but respect and honor paid to others by both the teachers and students.
Posted: May 22, 2019
The teachers and principal care deeply that students advance and become contributing adults to society.
Posted: May 22, 2019
All the students are treated fairly and with respect. Teachers work with students who need extra care.

Bullying is never tolerated and when exposed it is dealt with effectively. Caring and love are the example set by teachers and even other students.

Integrity, compassion, and respect ought to be fundamental to a Christian school. I, however, feel that these traits can become muddled when religious extremism is involved. Compassion especially seems to be reserved only for believers, and not for people who doubt any of the leadership's rhetoric.

So, I'll try to keep this review as unbiased as possible. I'm not only a community member, I'm a former student. For many years I had no feeling about this school, in recent years looking back I've realized how truly awful it was.
I attended this school for four years from 8th grade to 11th grade, at which point I dropped out and got my GED. As it wasn't (still isn't?) accredited I would have had to do that even if I graduated.
In my entire four years I had two teachers that actually seemed to know what they were talking about. Bible and math. Every other subject was taught by a church insider, and they should never have been teachers. Our English class was a joke and the teacher almost never actually got up from behind her desk. How can you teach English without writing on the board? History was actually drama half the time (Yes, I mean literally acting out skits in front of the class). Sometimes we had a decent science teacher, but they tended to come and go. And can you believe I don't even remember what other subjects they taught? That's how bad it was.
Now, maybe things have changed since I went there, but I wouldn't bet on it. The nepotism in both the school and church is actually stunning in retrospect. I was very active in both, and even after more than four years I still felt like an outsider. Likely because I wouldn't conform 100%. With nepotism as such, it no surprise that the teachers were so unqualified at that time.
If you're more concerned with religious indoctrination into the far right wing of evangelicalism than your child's education, this is the place for you.
Today I am well educated. Not because of this school, but in spite of this school. Most regrettable time in my life. Don't do that to your children.

I only ever had consistent homework in one subject: Math. And it was usually just ten or twenty problems. We had a vocabulary quiz weekly. That's literally all the homework we regularly had.

I had two children attend Calvary Christian Academy. It was such a good experience for them. Both children learned great social skills that I believe came from the schools leadership and teachers. My children were accepted into colleges where they received highest honors. Thank you Calvary

CCA is biblical based education which encourages growth in a Christian way. The students are able to encourage each other and learn from one another.

Calvary Christian Academy is a wonderful school where your children are nurtured, supported, and loved! My children receive individual like attention and the teachers are in constant communication. Class sizes are small and the children are all so very loving which proves that they are only being encouraged to do so! Love that the lunches are prepared in house and are healthy and wholesome and that there are so many different groups and programs to encourage growth! Thanks CCA!

Calvary Christian Academy is a HORRIBLE school! Don't waste your money! The staff does not have a Christian background and they only want your money. A public school offers a more caring environment, higher safety standards and a higher level of academics. Calvary doesn't require their teachers to have a Christian background. They have constant turnover which results in poor communication, inconsistencies and no organization. They will tell you anything you want to hear during the tour and registration process, but that all changes once you pay your tuition. The administration is rude and unprofessional. Your child will not be in a safe or secure school....the security is nonexistent. They don't have prayer during the day (not even before they eat lunch). Teachers are overwhelmed with large class sizes, and are unable to give your child individual attention. Please don't make the mistake of enrolling your child in this school. They don't issue refunds for any reason, so your child is stuck in a horrible school for the entire year. They are well below public school standards. ****You will also notice that all of the good reviews are from teachers or members of the church****

This is my first year at Calvary Christian. I have one child in Kindergarten (Mrs. Lemoine) and another in preschool (Mrs. Gray). We absolutely love our teachers and their loving nature. They are consistent with what they expect from their students and parents. We have great communication on my child's behavior and learning capabilities. I am astonished how much my Kindergartener has learned. He has weekly spelling tests and is reading, which is not how we started the year and he's doing great. My preschooler is writing letters and is always telling me stories about his day. The aftercare is amazing as well (Ms. Kim, Ms. Amanda, etc). In aftercare, my child finishes his homework, gets active exercise whenever possible, and they have several, fun indoor activities. My kids ask to go to aftercare, which I think is awesome! The only thing they lack is a gymnasium, but through consistent fundraising, I believe they will have one in the next few years. I do not know the principal very well, but the teachers I've experienced are amazing. Thank you for all you do!

One of the best things about CCA is the small class size. This allows teachers to focus on individual students and their educational needs. Small class sizes also allow us freedom to connect with our students and their families, developing strong relationships. Another great thing about CCA is the atmosphere of authentic support we foster. Teachers, administrators, parent volunteers, and the students look out for one another. It is impossible to explain adequately. Please come in for a visit and see this for yourself!

I can't say enough how wonderful this school has been for my children. This is our first year here at CCA and my family and I have been blessed considerably. The recent Christmas performances highlighted all of the programs that my children participated in. Also incredibly impressed with the enrichment program that is new this year and the robotics team that leave my son with a thirst for knowledge through learning and play. Can't speak highly enough!

This is the worst school I have ever sent my child to. The teachers are mediocre at best. The administration is unprofessional, rude, and demeaning. They don't communicate about problems just post them on your renweb, Never speak to you about things and expect changes. My child attended this school for 2 years and his/her educational abilities went south. This school is to focused on dictating what should be thought and done, and no focus on self thinking and regulating. Please do your research when looking into this school for your children. I will say that there are SOME really good teachers here who truly care.

CCA offers a gifted enrichment program for elementary students in a Christ-centered, private school environment. As a parent of a highly gifted student, the school offers a refreshing opportunity for students who need to be challenged beyond grade level to grow both spiritually and intellectually. I am very pleased with the variety of program offerings which personalize the educational experience for all students.

I love this school! I feel so blessed to teach Music in a place where I can proclaim my faith and share the importance of worshiping God with the gifts He has given each of us. Mrs. Urquidez is a wonderful leader for our staff and holds weekly training sessions for the staff to better us as educators. The teachers are more than just teachers, but leaders and mentors and encouragers. Thanks to small classroom sizes, each child receives one-on-one attention from their teachers on a daily basis. I feel very safe and at home at CCA and I hope one day my own children will have the privilege of attending.

This is the 5th school year that my children have attended CCA. I feel that it is constantly improving, especially in the quality of teachers and the level of parent involvement. The leadership has made great efforts to find highly qualified teachers who are genuinely following a calling to teaching. Each year has been better than the previous year in that respect. Parent involvement has also been on the rise now that parents are expected to fulfill a quota of volunteer hours each year. Parents have options of volunteering during school hours, on weekends or evenings for special events, or even by taking special projects home. I see a lot more parents donating things the school and teachers can use in the classroom, too. All in all, I am happy to be part of this school community and believe my children are receiving a high quality education.

Great help from teachers and administrators - I have been looking for a school like this for many years and I finally found it. God is awesome! I pray for this school every day because it does a fantastic job and it is not easy.

What I find tragic about this school how unappreciated the staff is. Through commitment and determination, they create an environment where every student has the opportunity to build a solid foundation - spiritually and academically - upon Biblical principles. All of this is done with little to no participation from the child's parents. Rather than support the teachers and administration, parents take offense and gossip to each other about their disappointments without acknowledging that their lack of involvement may be the reason they're disappointed. The staff goes through great lengths to engage families through special events, regular correspondence, and creative projects. Most often, their efforts are lost on parents with no dedication or motivation. No school is perfect. No ONE is perfect. But Calvary Christian Academy clearly states in their handbook what is expected of their parents and students, and what parents and students can expect from them. And unlike other schools where expectations are often altered, CCA adheres to and enforces what God requires of those who claim to be His children. Their standard is and will always be the perfect, inerrant Word of God.

I enrolled my daughter here for Kindergarten a couple years ago. She went from writing and coloring to scribbling, from knowing her ABCs to not knowing them at all, from counting to 20 to counting to 5, and from being not scared of doing things to having an affinity of saying "I can't do that. I'm too little." By the time my daughter told me that her teacher was telling her that she "couldn't do that" because she was too little in regards to the above listed it was too late. It took the next two years at an another school, that turned out to be excellent, to build her confidence back up. I can't speak for all the teachers at the school but I can speak for this attrocity of a person that calls themself an educator. If you send your child to this school, please keep a very close eye on your childs developement or you could have the same thing happen to you.
