The school has gone down hill quite a bit. I thought my child was getting a quality education but there is so much disruption throughout the day with dealing with misbehavior and bullying that the teachers are rushing through the day and students who are wanting to learning but are struggling are falling further behind. Their test scores are below average and the lack of communication is sad.
Teachers are late returning texts, emails or phone calls or never respond at all. I do understand they have more than one student but a simple respond should be sent at least within 72 hours, it is lacking on all fronts even calling the office can be a problem because nobody ever answers and all you get is voicemails that are never returned. Parent teacher conferences are held on a tight schedule that it is rushed and with many concerns unanswered and not addressed. If a child is struggling or isnt getting the concept there is very little help being offered even if a parent has expressed concern. Progress reports are late or never come and when you inquire about them still no response, and they sometimes dont reflect how your child is really do so when you get the report card a few weeks later you are confused because it how did they get a great progress report and be failing everything a week or 2 later.
Once upon a time this was a great school heading in a great direction but as the years go by the attitude of many who work there has changed and sadly the school is a sorry example of its former self. They allow alot of things such as bullying and bad behavior fly and telling the kids who are subjected to this to totally ignored or told to suck it up. I hope Deca turns it around and become what is supposed to be a great that focused on every child going to college.

The school helps my children prepare for college and prepare them for academic success it can be a bit challenging to kids who’s doesn’t college readiness. The environment plays a big factor in academic progress kids are unable to focus and stay on task due to the misbehaving kids that are disruptive and disrespectful and there is lack of disciplinary action for the bullying and children misbehaving. Overall the academic standards are excellent they push you children to aim high and prepare for college! Test scores are below average but the staff are working hard to succeed and meet standards as well as working with the parents. The teachers can be nonchalant to the behaviors of the children it can be challenging for other students who are willing to learn and succeed.
