My daughter is currently in her 3rd year at Morton Middle School and I absolutely love the staff and teachers. They have been very helpful to me and my child.
I was a substitute teacher for a year for the district and Morton Middle School is when you're going to experience a higher volume of children being mean to other children they aren't associated with or that are different to what isn't the 'norm'. This school was by far the hardest for me to substitute at, but it's mostly the age. They're approaching their teenage years and every child has some sort of a struggle trying to find themselves as a young adult. I don't think that this is any different at this age level at any other middle school during a child's formative years.
We are living in a completely different environment than what us parents were used to when we were young. Social media does not help.

My kid used to go here before she transferred due to bullying. The other teachers don't do anything to prevent bullying.

We are a family with experiences in 5 different school districts, across 11 different schools with our children.
Morton Middle School has been the worst experience to date with plenty of comparisons to draw from.
The administration of discipline is subjective and extreme, and certainly doesnt follow a progressive discipline approach.
Athletic selection is another area that exudes bias. Essentially if you didnt graduate from this district (alumni) or are not from here, be ready for a challenge.
Unfortunately this school is an important factor in our decision to not make this area our home.

If your child requires a 504 plan, STAY AWAY! They will not use my sons 504 plan, he went from straight A's in 5th grade to failing in 6th. His teacher doesn't care one bit, only complains about him. He has severe ADHD, but is highly intelligent. If you can afford it, send your child to ST. Chris. until High school. Do not bother even attempting to interact with the principle, she has no time for parent concerns. Collective punishment is used here often. Bullying happens all the time and nothing is ever done.
