I started at this school with really high hopes and I have been a regular volunteer. I have one son who is classic add, but because he isn't a behavior problem and came in knowing a lot of the material already has been pretty much ignored and when I express concerns that he hasn't learned new material or he is struggling with certain things no one offers suggestions or assistance because he is "good enough". No interest in teaching to his potential or helping him learn, the classes are too full to do more than teach to the test. My other son has been diagnosed with severe depression and anxiety, and is very gifted and the leadership has been AWFUL. It's like they don't know what mental illness is, when I was asking for accommodations I was literally told, "that's life" and the principal went out of her way to belittle me and my son, I ended up having to get the district involved. If you want your typical child to get an average education with sweet teachers this is a great school. If you have a gifted and/or special education child, run away! I've seen them be great with the severely disabled children, but with Asperger kids or children with impulse control problems they have no idea what they are doing, and I've seen aides and teachers make a mildly difficult situation a disastrous one because they don't have any patience with these children. Their gifted program is a joke at the lower levels, there's a slight amount of in class differentiation but if you have a child who's a couple grades ahead it's not going to offer anything other than frustration for your kid and you. In my case, I will say once I got the district involved everything was much better, so I think overall Beavercreek is a good district, but I don't think I should have to do that to get results. I'm surviving the rest of this year and then getting my kids out of there.

Fairbrook Elementary is a loving, caring environment that really supports the kids. The principal is very visible and involved. They have an incredible PTO and there are so many opportunities to be involved at the school as a parent. Our children love attending Fairbrook.

I have had children at Fairbrook for seven years straight now and it is our home away from home. This is the second year for our new principal and she is wonderful. She knows our children and is incredibly supportive. I have met with her a few times now with concerns and she has never failed to put my mind and ease and work with me to my complete satisfaction. She is pleasant and warm and very knowledgable. One of my children had a problem on the bus and he was comfortable enough with her to go to her on his own and discuss the problem and he never had trouble after that day. The teachers are supportive and welcome parent involvement. I often see teachers going above and beyond to help their students. From purchasing crayons for the entire class because so many of the children talked about not having any at home to passing out Hershey bars to work on fractions, these little things matter and help give our students a warmer environment in which to learn and a better education. The character education program is an added bonus. Children in grades 1-4 work together, led by fifth grade den leaders and staff members, to teach things such as respect, trustworthiness and caring.

I would have agreed with all the positive ratings listed here if the previous principal had stayed at Fairbrook. The new is one outdated, uncommunicative, difficult and rude. I do not find that they are doing what needs to be done for my special needs child or my typical child. They teach to the tests to maintain their "excellent" rating rather than caring if the kids learn. They are more concerned about appearances than teaching. It is a poor example of education and does nothing to live up to the Beavercreek reputation. Worst school my kids have ever attended!
