This school has not caught up with the trend to separate 6th grade from Middle School and allow a smoother transition. Kids are thrown into an 8-period class day with no support. The counselor ignored my emails for weeks until we got the principal involved. I have been a fan of Beavercreek schools until this year. Suggest hiring more counselors, changing the format of the 6th grade year to allow for transition time, and switching to a block schedule so kids have more time in class and less stress.

Our experience has been good and bad with this school. Overall academics are excellent and the quality of the teaching staff is good. The schools understanding of mental health issues and how they effect children is lacking. Our child was labeled "immature" by a teacher and discriminated against from taking higher level courses because of that behavior. There was no support from the administration. If your child has any special needs and you are looking at districts to move to Beavercreek is not the strongest. Kettering and Centerville have better special needs/IEP programs.

I have a special needs child with an anxiety disorder as well as Autism Spectrum Disorder. This is his first year in middle school at Coy. They make no arrangements for special needs kids to meet their Invervention Specialist before the school year begins. They just send them into a program where they are going into 8 different classrooms with 8 different sets of expectations. He has struggled throughout this first quarter because of this and I have found his intervention specialist not all that helpful. The intervention specialist has kids with IEP's for their study hall period so I spoke to her at open house about helping him get organized so he could handle the demands of middle school. She assured me she would. I have had to email weekly about the same subject She keeps telling me she will do things and never follows through.
If you have a child with special needs, I would recommend you find a school district other than Beavercreek.

Beavercreek city school district In general, is a horrible district to place your child at. Housing prices are the same in cities with far better school districts. Please, put your kids there.

Our girl has been attending this school for 3 years and loved the band program there. The band direction works magic with kids! As a parent, I have been really impressed with the leadership of this school starting with the friendly and helpful secretaries. The principle is a very caring man. The local community is very friendly toward the military families. The kids in this area are mostly well behaved. This is the last year in this building as they are moving to the brand new one.

We are so pleased with Ferguson's quality of leadeership and staff. I've volunteered at the school for 3 years now and you can tell by the staff's attitude and professionalism it's a great place for everyone, especially the students. We have been especially impressed with the 8th grade teachers. My son is in all honors classes and the caliber of enthusiastic teaching is outstanding. Teachers are always available to meet and address any concerns you may have. I am so happy we chose Ferguson and we also LOVE Beavercreek schools!
