I went to this school from 2nd to 9th and as a student they deemed “unruly” I was constantly mistreated and bullied by students and staff. Like many other comments in this thread I felt alone and targeted. They don’t do anything to reach out and help a struggling child. I received hundreds of detentions and punishments. All the way to being forced to come in on Saturday’s and clean the gym by hand with other “unruly” students. They preach the word of the lord, but grossly misunderstand being a person with feelings and woes. Avoid this place if you are anything but a white Christian conservative.

This school is a blessing in disguise, while it may not look as fancy as other local private schools, it provides a beautiful environment of caring teachers and supportive staff to ensure our children have a safe and fun environment to thrive. I loved our kindergarten teacher and the supporting staff. Only con is the front office staff. They are unwelcoming and often visibly frustrated that you come in there with questions or concerns. I can handle it, but others may feel unwelcome due to the nature of the front office staff.
Otherwise, I LOVE EDCS and I am so sad we are moving.

I would give it no stars if I could. They just collect your money and pass your child right on through each grade whether or not they are ready. If the special ED teacher likes your child she will actually help them, but if not good luck getting your child the proper education.

I attended this school and regret it immensely. Despite claiming to be Christian, I experienced constant racism, sexism, and homophobia. The staff allow their students to be bullied and staff engage in bullying as well. The children here are either immensely favored, or slandered and treated abysmally across multiple classrooms. This school does not offer much in terms of college prep or AP classes, and the education is subpar. This school cares about their students believing what the teachers tell them, not about their students actual well being. Stay well away if you are a minority.

Both my kids go to EDCS. They've always loved it there and I've loved the communications from the teachers to us parents. They slso love the lunch choices! I absolutely love the Christian faith based curriculum. I love that my kids can graduate with the same kids from kindergarten they started with! My son had to go thru speech therapy for a few years there and successfully finished and his speech is beautiful.

The teachers in the pre-school are unqualified to teach early childhood education! They lack the skills, compassion, professionalism.

The director of the daycare/preschool area is a poor fit. She lacks personality & any expertise in dealing with young children and with young, often times, first time parents.

This is where the lack of proper ECE strongly comes into play! The basics of child developmentally appropriate practices are a mystery to these 'teachers' and their pieced together curriculum is not effective! Children meet certain milestones of development during the preschool years...these ladies are not educated to see these children advance from stage to stage.

I have found the majority of the bullying coming from teachers to students who they have labeled unruly or misbehaved. Never once was any compassion witnessed or an attempt to work with a child who obviously learns in a differently. way!!

I am a current high school student at EDCS, and I can honestly say I've grown closer to God since I started attending this school. I love my teachers. Some of them are close friends that go out of their way to help me and other students with anything. The lunch isn't great in my opinion, so I always pack. All the sports I've participated in have been fun, and I made new friends through them. The concert choir at this school is one of the best things I have ever joined. Our director knows what he's doing, and we as a choir have made so many unforgettable memories.

I've been a student here for 7 years. The teachers are great (yes, they do explain things) and as far as I know, no bullying ever occurs. It's a close school, if something happens everyone will know about it in a few days. But no one gets judged for anything. That's the type of people that go to our school. The lunch isn't the greatest (you'd be better off packing). It isn't worth the amount they make you pay for it. I also play sports, which is a great way for new students to get to know people! Every school has drama, I'll admit that, but East Dayton Christian has the best teachers and advisors for every situation. The Bible teachers are by far the best you'll find in Dayton. They teach you the Word of God in a fun way which makes you remember it. There are some things they could change, but its a great deal considering how much EDCS cost.

My kids have been going to East Dayton Christian for many years. They are getting a good education, from teachers that truly care about them. For a small school, they offer quite a bit. I love that in the high school they put in service hours, learning that the world doesn't just revolve around them. The school is continuously improving. The tuition is also a great deal less than other area Christian schools. It's not the fanciest, but it's a good value.

My children attended East Dayton Christian
School for several years. I found the teachers for the most part to be excellent. My children were well prepared for high school and even reported that they used what they learned at EDCS in college. They both look back on their years at EDCS with fond memories. Several teachers made an impact on their lives that they will never forget.

My children received a great education for the nine years they attended the school. For the teachers to be very effective, it takes effort from the student themselves and support from the family.

Of course that depends on the specific subject and the specific teacher. At times the load was too heavy and other times it was just right.

I've read some of the previous reviews and all I can say is that things have certainly changed since then! My kids have gone to East Dayton for several years and I honestly couldn't be much happier with our experience there. I have children that have special needs and we as a family have been given assistance with helping them achieve success. The administration has always been proactive in partnering with us. No school is perfect. There are a few teachers that seem a little unfriendly but when approached about helping my children, they were more than willing to help. We love that our kids are attending a school that loves Jesus and shows grace as He would. We highly recommend this school!

EDCS is an awesome place....What more could one ask for wit a faith based, great moral teaching school. My child gets to grow academically while getting to build her relationship with God. I am so thankful for all that the school does for the students. We are there to stay!

Our children have been at EDCS for several years. Early on we were fairly pleased. We soon learned that EDCS is not all that they claim to be. They do not have the ability, training or resources to teach children with any type of learning challenges. Reading intervention does not exist at this school. Their answer to everything is private tutoring and/or to charge your family additional fees on top of the tuition so that your child can receive intervention services. Classes sometimes have less than 15 children to a classroom yet last year the teachers were requesting parents to volunteer to grade seat work for the children. Papers were graded incorrectly so this was stopped. The teachers complain that the academic requirements give them zero extra time to spend with the children that need a little extra assistance. What on earth would these teachers do if they taught in a classroom with 30 children? We are completely dissatisfied with the school and their lack of resources, training and method of teaching our future leaders.

They are so behind public school kids academically. On my first day of public school I was so lost. It was so weird to have freedom. At EDCS I never got help from the principal with problems like bullying. I had too much homework and now I have none. Glad I switched and I never want to go back.

Administrators seem legalistic/ follow the letter more than the spirit of the law. Not very adaptable to parent and student input....academically, not very good that one teacher covers all of one subject for 4 or 5 grades-- if that teacher is inferior, the child will have 4-5 years with that subject poorly taught...

Initially, we thought this was a great school because the christian and/or Biblical principles were consistent with what our child is taught at home and at church. However, after being there for several years, we realized our child was not getting the level of "teaching" considering we were paying tuition. The administration is also rather closed minded in they way things are done. We feel that our child is getting a much better education and experience(s) in public school. The teachers actually teach instead of pushing tons of papers. Our other child will not be attending this school.
