Safety is one of the most important factors when choosing a school, and unfortunately, I left with concerns about whether student well-being was always the top priority. While I never expected a perfect environment, I did expect clear communication, accountability, and leadership that addressed concerns promptly and transparently.
Families considering this school should ask detailed questions about how safety concerns are reported, investigated, and communicated to parents. They should also ask about staff turnover and who is responsible for overseeing student well-being. In my opinion, those conversations are essential before making a decision.
Every family has to decide what they're comfortable with, but based on my experience, I would look elsewhere.

We left in 2020. Teachers don't communicate with families. Neighborhood kids are often spraying graffiti and pestering kids during recess (even throwing rocks at them). Principal doesn't want to hear criticism of the school.
Current name is Montessori School of Dayton.

Both of my daughters attend this school. They (and we as parents) are extremely happy with their classes and teachers; they are always looking forward to the ends of breaks and the return to school. The school has a high degree of fidelity to the Montessori method and materials. The children learn and grown at their own pace in mixed age classrooms that allow older students to assist younger learners. The teachers are excellent and show a great depth of knowledge of their students. The students enjoy high quality electives including a wonderful music program, art and Spanish language instruction. Each year many of the students win prizes for their creative artwork competing against many other schools at the county wide recycled art sculpture contest.
If you are considering any type of private school education for your children, I urge you to schedule a tour of this magical school!

The wonderful community feel of the school creates a situation where there is no room for bullying to develop.

The nature of the Montessori curriculum and materials is to naturally meet students at their own level and support various skill/ability/knowledge levels. Students choose the work that they want to pursue and receive plenty of assistance from teachers and classroom aids. In addition to the beautifully supportive nature of the curriculum and methods, the staff have arranged extra support for my child from a reading specialist.

Administration is visible during the school day, the school director knows my children by name, and knows that we are their parents. Administration frequently communicates with the school community and has without fail been timely with thoughtful responses to questions.

The students are encouraged to be courteous and compassionate, and to respect the differences of others. The community of students and parents reflects a wide diversity of cultures and ethnicities. I cannot imagine a school doing a better job in instilling these values in students.

The teachers have always provided highly accurate information about our children, demonstrating that they have deep knowledge of how they learn, their interests, skills, and needs. They have always been very responsive when we have asked questions. They have made effective recommendations for ways to reinforce learning at home.

This school does not assign homework to students, at least in the lower elementary. This is developmentally appropriate and helps foster happiness and love of school in the students.

My great niece is currently attending this school. I have noted great gains in her self control, willingness to work through problems herself and her interface with other children. She visibly blossoming and is almost desolate if for any reason she must miss any time at school. I have always believed in and supported the Montessori method and my own three children attended Montessori schools in three different states. These schools are priceless in that they are not a fad but a true educational process that works wonders and has stood the test of time.

This school is TOP NOTCH! Currently our child is in the 3-6 program and has been for the past two years. I am so impressed with the work she comes home with. Her level of reading for a 5 year old is amazing, she knows more geography than I do, and the best part is she loves school. If you have never seen a great Montessori classroom in action, please do so. Go observe and you will be amazed at how a classroom of 3-6 year olds can be structured, fun, and effective with no behavior or discipline problems. Each child progresses at his/her own pace. It is what education should be! This school has strict limits but is also fun. It is nurturing yet they have high standards. I couldn't ask for a better Kindergarten experience for her. We are moving next year out of state and I am heartbroken to pull her out of here. It is worth every penny, especially in a time of constant budget cuts in public schools. We have no regrets. If nothing else go and observe!

The recent expansion of the school to include 4th through 8th grades has been managed well and is clearly a success. The kids really enjoy learning and are excited to go to school. It is so convenient to have Preschool through Middle School all under one roof with curriculum that flows logically throughout. Especially noteworthy is the new music program which includes a school band and several other ensembles. The student-run coffee shop teaches students practical skills in how to run a business while providing a convenience for the parents. A further conveinience: before- and after-care are offered on an as-needed basis.
