Our daughter has been attending this school since kinder and she's in second grade now. I could not have asked for a better environment for her. All teachers and staff are amazing. Communication with the school is great, I love their one call system to remind of upcoming school delays, closings, teacher in-service days, etc. The behavior color system they have set up is amazing because it isn't to just punish those making poor choices, but rewards those who show the schools star behaviors (be responsible, be a problem solver, be caring, be respectful) and making good choices throughout the day. I know the overall rating for this school is low, but I believe it should be higher. This school has been amazing over the years and we are sad to have to be leaving such a great school.

My son attended K at VS for just a few months (we then moved out of the area, unfortunately). His class was very well organized, homework was straightforward, age appropriate, and easy for me, as a parent, to instruct my son at home. The behavior chart in class was wonderful because it didn't just punish for bad choices made. It provided positive feedback when good choices were made and allowed kids to change their behavior so that they could be rewarded for their good behavior. I was so worried about sending my son to this school originally, due to the lower rating from greatschools. But after visiting the school and attending, my mind was put at ease. We were sad to leave VS because we saw our son flourish there (he learned to read, made great friends, and loved going to school!). Now he is at a school with an excellent rating and I am disappointed. There is bullying at his new school, things are completely disorganized, and I feel like he isn't learning or being challenged :( I learned that the ratings given to schools don't always accurately portray the school. Virginia Stevenson was a 10 in my book!

This is my child's first year at VS. So far, both my husband and I are happy with the school. The class sizes are small and the teachers keep you well up to date with your child's progress. I've had no problems with her classmates as I did at her previous school (Dayton Public). There seems to be no issue with bullying and the focus is most definately on Math and Reading. My only complaint is that they don't offer a Art classes other than the projects they do in class.

I love Virginia Stevenson's. My son attended there K-4th and the staff was amazing. We are sad to move on to Spinning but excited for the new adventures ahead. Lisa Otto was such a life changer to my son. She was always there for my son and willing to reach out and help in any way she could. I love her! The kids all love her. Darlene Miller made coming into Stevenson feel as if you are welcome and at home. She was always there to listen. All the teachers and other staff members are there for the kids and make the parents feel good about being involved. I am going to miss Stevenson's.

My boys have gone to this school for the past 3 years and they love it! When we decided to move out of base housing, we made sure we built our home in the Mad River school district so our boys could continue going to Stevenson. All of the teachers there are awesome and have gone above and beyond with my kiddos. I always feel welcome whenever I come in to help out. The principal and staff are just awesome! We are moving this summer and not only are our boys sad that they can't come back to Stevenson, but we as parents are sad too! Stevenson ROCKS!

This is the first year my children have went to this school and after this year it will be the last. My children have come home with headlice 4 times as the school promised to have it taken care of, but my children told me they never checked their heads. I had to take the issue to the board to make sure something was done about it. Also, I called the school to inform them they needed to let my kids know to get off at their sitters busstop because I had to work. I got a call at work saying my kids were home alone. They are 7 and 9. Very unprofessional! This is our last year here!

Virginia Stevenson Elementary is an outstanding school. The teachers and staff are very kind and genuinly care about the children they teach! My son excelled in every aspect while attending this school. We were so sad when it was time to leave Virginia Stevenson behind and move on to the next school.
