This school has gone downhill quickly over the years. We have seen a decline in our children's learning and increased anxiety. More bullying by staff and students. Administration covers up anything that unpleasant.
The new admin does not discipline and students are physically abused and bullied. Principal tells the bullying student to sit in her office for 10 min offers the student a huge. Then let's the student go back to the class . Even if that student had just thrown a chair, stabbed someone with a pencil, hit a student in the face with their boot... All the while the parents of the student who got injured is never called.
The teachers either do nothing because the principal won't do anything to back then up or just watch and laugh. Many teachers are so rude to students it is astounding.
The students are not learning anything that is not on the state test. Math and Language Arts... but only if it's on the state test. Writing, Handwriting skills and spelling are not taught.
I am sending my children to a different district. We have had enough of the darkness that the school portrays after having addressed this issue many times. Good staff leave every year and are replaced by the clique or unqualified people that will just go along.
"Head in sand" is the theme for many community members. They don't go into the school and actually see things. They believe the facade of the newsletters and fake smile and waves by the principal.
Find a better school environment for your elementary child.

Poor accounting of school funds. No gifted/advanced classes offered. School counselor for elementary passes students off to third party counselor without ever seeing the student. High turnover of third party counselors. Teachers either give no homework or entirely too much homework. Administration is kind, but lacks follow through and experience. Looking to send our children somewhere else.

If you need to go to work and your kids need daycare and transportation to school, RUN! This is not the school district for your family.
THERE IS NO DAYCARE IN THE DISTRICT!!!!
The before and after school program is only for kindergarten and up!
No problem with my older kid. He loves the school!

Either there is so much homework you have to beg and then be denied more time to finish the homework or there is no homework.

Teachers do not care about the students. The only thing the teachers care about is good students who can raise their test scores.

The school allows bullying. The school treats the students like prisoners.

Both of my kids have been diagnosed dyslexic and the school special education department refuses to help them. They don't care what our doctor says.

When my kids tried to tell a teacher about a bully they were ignored. If your child defends themselves from a bully, they will be the one punished by the school.

Terrible! The children are forced to be quiet during lunch. Even to say, "Stop bothering me" or "Please leave me alone" and they are a rushed to a "special" table in front of the school to finish their food. Once there and finished eating, they are ushered to a room where they are not allowed recess. Children are not allowed to explain themselves. If enough children speak, again, just a single word, the entire lunch room is denied recess. Keep in mind, a lunch room is comprised of lots of young and enthusiastic children, maybe 100 students. 1-2 students uttering A SINGLE WORD can cost the whole room recess. The only place I can think of that treats people like this is prison.

I am in the military and we are leaving Waynesville. The experience at Wayne Local Schools was great initially, but there were many changes in district and building policies with absolutely no parent input. My daughter had a substitute teacher for her entire school year. The sub did not teach and my daughter fell very behind in her school subjects. Her new district tested her and she lost 2 grade levels of math and reading while at Waynesville. I tried to arrange a meeting with the principal discuss some issues and was told no. In fact, the school principal indicated it would be a waste of time to meet with me. They stopped accepting parent notes for illness as an excused absence, but will send your student home if he, or she is sick. Even if the school sent the student home, you will receive an automated call that your student was absent. Then they expect your student to serve detention for this.
