I believe that the school does help students who want to help themselves. There have been students who start out very defensive or not doing well that improve greatly over their time there.

This school has a very small environment, less than 20 per class. It is nice that families can have all of their kids in one school. The staff is great and hardworking. So many rumors go around that sometimes what people think is fact is really just an assumption and don't bother to find out the truth.
The school is not perfect, but no school is. I would say that this school is no worse than many of the surrounding traditional schools. In many ways they are better because the children can get more direct attention with the smaller class sizes.
Over the past couple of years I have seen many of the graduates go on to college and the military (rumors at one time said the military wouldn't take their diplomas but that was false). Most who go to college do go to Sinclair at least at first because it is cheaper, and last year's graduating class all went to college the following year.
I would advise anyone to check it out for their kids, you can get complete tours of the whole facility.

This school offers a small school environment in a large city. The teachers and staff are caring and know each of their students. The school offers students more one-on-one attention and helps students be successful in their core curriculum classes as well as offer visual arts and PE and Health. The school continues to just get better and better. The new gym floor, additional computers and additional teachers have all added up to a great place to have your children educated!!

If you send your child here you would be making a huge mistake. The teachers are alright... I'll give them that, but if your child is even somewhat intelligent they won't be getting any attention because the rest of the students don't care about learning. The other parent was right, my child just went to school and played on her iPod all day. The kids will be given online assignments and will never complete them due to the fact that they can easily access facebook, myspace, YouTube, or whatever. The teachers eventually get upset and give up on this students. The school is a disaster. The lunches are gross. My daughter even brought some home to show me. It's like "prison food" as the students say. If your student is struggling or has anger management problems or got in fights at their previous school, then maybe this is the school you should send them to, because that's the kind of kids that attend this school. Not to mention the fact that if you get a high school diploma from MVA no college except a community college will accept you. The air force won't even accept graduates from MVA and that is a fact that was told to me by the principal.

Miami Valley Academies is a great charter school! They are compassionate and caring. The school of choice is a great place to send your children. They boost small class enrollment sizes, they have updated technology and offer after-school tutoring. The school itself is small so offering one-on-one help and individual attention happens daily. The food is catered in each day for breakfast and lunch and the school follows the USDA requirements. Advanced Placement courses and foreign language will be offered via on-line so students can have access 24/7. Great School and Great Staff!

It's not even an actual school. It's literally an old lumber factory that they put classrooms into. It's like a daycare... The kids go there, and play on computers and ipods all day during their classes. The school is dirty, they don't have enough books for every student, and the lunches are either undercooked, or burnt, but either way they're served cold. The heaters never work, my kids had to wear layers of clothing just to stay somewhat warm in the winter. The work that is given to the students is grade levels below what they should be learning. The high school classrooms are tiny, and sometimes didn't have enough seats to fit all of the students (if all of the students actually showed up that day... which is rare). The class sizes are small, no more than 25 kids per grade. If you are considering taking your child to learn at MVA, please ask for a tour of the entire building before enrolling them. I was fooled my the polished look of the front office, and wasn't aware of the horrors that were found in the main part of the school until after my kids were anrolled.
