I enrolled 2 of my children to this school because their last school was failing them. I had hopes that Pathway would be better for them and help them succeed and progress, but both of them started off doing better at the beginning, now closer to the end of the school year, have declined. This school has no benefits for children with any type of disability and holds disabled students to the same accountability/ standards as the average student without disabilities. They seem to be less focused on helping the children succeed and more overly focused on discipline. Seems to be more of a prison like atmosphere. There is no help for children with ADHD or any other mental or physical enailments. It took more than half the school year for my child to finally get the help needed when she has an IEP. This was all in the record but I had to push this repeatedly. They did not have anyone in the school to help with intervention and it is required by law. I get calls every day for small minor stuff. No sports are aloud to be played if even a child with an IEP who has not yet been given the intervention that is required can not meet up to the grades and good behavior of the average student. I made a mistake putting my children at this school and they have extremely failed my kids. I cant image how worse it would be if I wasn't working with my kids daily after work with their homework and such. Sadly, most of the schools in the area are bad. As much as Emerson and Horizon seem like prisons due to their locations and older buildings, they atleast have a prepared school for the needs of all children and not just for the average child. A couple teachers at pathway I can really say are helpful and actually want to see all the kids thrive, but then there are many who are just lazy and dont care if the kids learn or not, nor do they give that extra help for the ones who are in need or have learning disabilities. The school is NOT at all welcoming to children that are on the spectrum in any way. They talk like they are, but its just that! My kids seemed to be more of a problem because they needed the extra help. Took a whole school year of me fighting for my kid's to get them help, where there is now conflicts of interest.
Extremely disappointed.

Please do NOT send your child to this terrible school. It's known to have a MAJOR bullying problem as well as overly prioritizing discipline instead of education. My student had to be STUCK inside a room the WHOLE school year without receiving ANY school work & could only leave once a day to grab lunch and come inside. Then they falsely diagnosed her with an "emotional disorder" without running any tests? The teacher running it wasn't even CERTIFIED and ended up on administrative leave! What kind of SICK joke is that!? They give out petty write ups like: not walking straight on a blue line, or "petty" misunderstandings that add up and acummilate over time. They treat students like hoodlums or bad students out of spite. My student received no 8th grade education and needed much emotional support, DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Hectic, aimless, and outright laughable. A great school to let your child fall behind at. If there are any issues, you will find no solutions. The IEP students there could get away with theft and bringing fake guns to school, so unless you want your kid being harassed by That, stick to home school.

the teachers are great there for the most part its the students there messy and the 8th graders act like 6th grades because they haven't been taught or just don't know how to act there sneaky and the students cause the school to be draining the students drove me mad all they have is negative energy and more negative energy and they pick on kids until there's nothing left to pick at.

My experience at Pathway School of Discovery these past 4 1/2 years has for the most part been Great! Nothing is going to be 100% perfect but I can honestly say that they strive to make all students achieve success in learning and developing to their fullest potential. I read the score percentage / race percentage for Pathway and I do not agree that it is a mark against the school and staff of Pathway. I say this because my Child is of non- white race and so far she has not made anything below a B. And I firmly believe that its because Pathway positively pushes students to do their best in a way that the child, my child can embrace the academics being taught knowing that she is in my opinion, learning from a great, knowledgeable ,caring and compassionate group of teachers that take the success of each and every student seriously.

I have noticed that the homework packet can be used as a vital tool for understanding the classroom curriculum as well as a study guide for testing. It helps to keep what is being taught fresh in my childs brain. I personally love it and my childs grades reflect the importance of how Pathway does homework.

My daughter has attended Pathway since Kindergarten and where each teacher has a certain style of teaching they all come together for the better of the student. And it works!

They strongly impress the importance of integrity, compassion and respect. They do this through many different ways including verbal discussions. To have my child at a school that practices those important values the way we embrace them at home is a key factor in why my child is still a student at pathway school of Discovery.

Pathway I have noticed, has many programs in place for all levels of learning differences . They do not expect each child to learn the same or on the same level but they work one on one or in small groups with students that may have learning differences and work with them according to that student needs.

As with all schools, bullying is an increasing problem, but I do feel that Pathway need to really step up whatever plan of action that is presently in place because from seeing bullying at the school myself, I feel its not working to its fullest capabilities.

My daughter has been going to this school since 3rd grade. She is now in the 8th grade. We have never encountered any issues or concerns until this year. This year has been the worse. My daughter has been mistaken for behavior concerns multiple times. This school has a terrible way of communicating with parents about their child. Most of the teachers do not respond to emailing that are sent. The 8th grade dean is unprofessional and does not know how to communicate with an adult besides being rude, disrespectful and privileged. She talks to the parents like she talks to the kids in a demeaning and aggressive tone. I honestly in the process of removing my daughter from this school. I use to feel that my daughter was getting a good education but I have not felt that way in about two years. I am sorry it has taken me this long to realize this. But this is the last straw. I should of recognized the signs when teachers started leaving also.

awful. I feel bad for sometime don't listen my child. he get emotional and mental damaged at this school. all the time they put my son like he was a bad kid. I change him to another school and his teacher and the Principal tell me that they read his record from Pathway and he is the all the opposite what they write on his record. in this new school is grade are A, B his behavior is awesome and academic his is doing a lot better. So I will not recommend this school at all to no one.

I found the teachers dont have an overall experience when dealing with children of color, secretaries are nice and helpful, ut the dean and principal are HORRIBLE with returning emails and calls especially pertaining to discipline issues. Suspension is their immediate answer even when your child was the victim of bullying and defends themselves!

My son is in kindergarten. We were a little apprehensive about sending him this year as he was only 4 years old at the start of school. However, he has absolutely flourished at Pathway! When he started kindergarten he could barely write his name, now he is almost reading and is on track to be a reader before he starts 1st grade! I would recommend Pathway to anyone that will listen! We could not have chosen a better school for our child!

The teachers are all wonderful. I truly feel that they care about each and every student and genuinely want them to succeed. We see our child's teacher out in the community from time to time and she always seems genuinely happy to see our son.

Kindergarten brings home a packet on Monday's and they have all week to work on it. They also have sight words to review every night. I think this approach works well for this grade as it gets them ready for the responsibility of homework and helps reinforce what they are learning all week in class.

I have a student in the second year of school here at Pathway School of Discovery. My student is in second grade

I have a good student overall and her grades reflect mostly A's and occasional B's.
The (2) administrative support employees in the office staff are exceptional. The principal seems fair if you speak his language.

So why the poor rating? The school adopted a "clustering" style of education this year with children that are struggling, on level and advanced in the same class.

My student started complaining the second week of school. She contends the students that she is seated next to are not paying attention and the work from 1st grade and sometimes kindergarten.

She also states the children ask her excessive questions and will not be quiet. I talked this over with the teacher and she advised she is aware of the challenges with clustering; and she would be working on any problems after testing was completed.

My student started to show signs of boredom and refused to do the work that was from First Grade and sometimes Kindergarten. I followed up with the teacher about the status of her giving Sincere the work that was suited for her skill set and received no response.

My student was referred to the Deans office and and was advised by the 2nd Grade Dean that she did not appreciate her putting one adult against the other! I asked the Dean about this and she advised she asked her to come into the office to discuss her Tupperware lunch containers.

I explained to the Principal who seemed to act as if this was a "cat fight" and it did not involve him. After much persuasion he responded and my student was given the work our family was
promised.

This school is horrible and honestly I dont know where to begin. Before I start ranting I will say that we are so glad school is OVERR. Now I dont have a bad child by any means(Hes very respectful) with that being said he has been treated like a hoodlum allll year! Like a problem child. My son six grade teacher did not like him,for what reason I do not know but she didnt. She would find any reason she could get away with to take fun activites away from him. Just yesterday my son left an assignment in the locker and she wouldnt let him get it ALTHOUGH IT WAS RIGHT OUTSIDE THE ROOM AND COMPLETE she marked the assignment missing but yet let other children go to their locker. If I sent her an email asking about something that I heard happened she would approach my child about it during class for the other children to see and hear(and did I mention that she wouldnt even reply to my email yet she would discuss the matter with my son)?? The dean would discuss matters I addressed with her with the teacher then the teacher would AGAIN APPROACH MY SON INSTEAD OF REACHING OUT TO ME! Thats just a few TRUST ME ITS MUCH MORE.. I also would like to say that for some time I made excuses for this teachers behavior, I told my son it was gonna be ok and that she was probubly frustrated with the hard headed children there until I couldnt make anymore excuses. Things started not sounding right and it was blatent things that stood out to my husband and I. Things that was just unfair and things that made my 12 year old son cry and its rare that he get that upset. This year broke my heart. To see my son so stressed and unhappy and there was nothing I could do about it until now. PARENTS Listen to your children and beware that the staff here will pick a side in a matter like mine and it wont be your side nor will it be neutral. Pathway is not the place to be but like I had to learn the hard way despite reviews,by all means see for yourself.

The teachers are fantastic, however, the principal and a couple of the deans clearly need to be more involved with the children and parents. I know for a fact that myself and several other parents have had very serious concerns about issues and neither the dean or principal would return calls or take the time to meet with us. For these reasons I would not recommend Pathway. However, the teachers are some of the best I have ever encountered. I taught high school for 12 years and these teachers are by far the most compassionate and caring I think I have ever met.

This school has a lot to offer younger students. My children have been students at Pathway since Kindergarten with my oldest now just starting middle school. The middle school leaves a lot to be desired. There is a lot of teacher turnover and inconsistencies regarding expectations and consequences. Even worse, my oldest does not feel safe at school. This is not acceptable at all. I'm reluctant to mention specific issues that lead to this. I am giving the school 3 stars, but if I could I would give Kinder-grade five 5 stars and the middle school only 2. There are good things going on and the principal cares for the kids but it is obvious that the bad kids rule the school, sadly.

All of my children attended this school and I can not rave enough. My oldest is now 22 working a full time job. He never attended college rather chose a MVCTC as did his father. All of my children passed the OGT my middle child and youngest passed the test the first time my oldest struggled with the math. My middle child attended middle school till 8th recently graduated DRSS with a full ride to WSU. My youngest is still in high school and also attending MVCTC however this is a college track career and is an honor student that is excluding one grade all A's. Your child's education is 75% what you put into them but if you can not homeschool them successfully then this is the place for them. The whole school system cares and encourages the parents to be very involved which I loved. The teachers assisted my youngest with Dyslexia I never once fought over IEP or IDEA they wanted him to succeed. My middle child is also Asperger syndrome same experience they helped my children become successful individuals. The final thought is my children loved this school and have to this day very fond memories.

Pathway is an awesome school and my daughter loves it! The teachers keep the parents involved so if a subject needs worked on, we are not blindsided with it by receiving the report card. The school is constantly having activities to keep the students involved as well as the parents - fun things like Mom's and Dad's day, grandparents day, student/teacher games, things like that. It creates a sense of community within the school.

My school is: wonderful, amazing, and awesome! The entire staff really care about every child. They bring out the best in my child! Every staff member works hard to make sure every student does their best. I am glad I found this school, and my child loves being there. I only wish that they went up to the 12th grade!
