If you're not Turkish, your kids will be treated terribly at this school. Extremely bizarre. Most of the teachers are Turkish nationals here on visas who have never taught kids before. After some research, I found that this school is connected to the "gullen movement", which was extremely concerning. My child told me that one of the teachers had mentioned in a HISTORY course that the Holocaust was "debatable".
The only decent thing about this school was that it was close to my house!
Save yourself the time and energy, and research this school and movement before you waste your time like I did.

As a previous student I would not recommend sending your child here at all! If youre sending you child here because you think that it would be a better alternative to public school please reconsider your decision. I attended the academy for 1 year and it was the worst experience of my life. Teachers have admitted to not wanting to be there, students run the class, and bullying is not taken seriously at all. If you are on here then Ill assume that truly care about your childs quality of education and wellbeing; if so I would recommend that you look into The Dayton Regional STEM School. It requires a bit of a process to be accepted into the school be it is well worth the essay and interview process. I attended Horizon for 1 year and ended significantly behind and doing terrible. I left and ended up graduating from STEM. STEM is an open district school so it is very diverse and teachers and staff care deeply about the wellbeing and education quality of their students so I would recommend checking it out if you are looking for an alternative to public school!

Awesome school. Great caring teachers who always go above and beyond to give each and every child a chance at success. They put in time after school and tutor children when need over more one on one time during school hours when needed. College prep courses. Plenty of after school activities for everyone. Staff and all teachers are super friendly and go the distance to ensue relationships with the families as well and make sure they are included in the education of their child. I love knowing my child's teacher is only an email or phone call away and will assist me with any concern I have or trouble my child is having at a moments notice even after hours. Awesome school. The very best in the area. Love it and would recommend to anyone.

My two children go to this school. The teachers and administration are doing their best to provide a good education. The discipline is tough, and I like it. I do not want my children's right to learn is interrupted by very rude and disrespectful students. This is a college prep school and the teachers' expectations are high. I love this school and recommend it to families. If you want a childcare for your kid, please send them to another school. There is still room for improvement, and I see that they are on the right track...

7-12 grades are not at this location. There are actually three Horizon(Concept Schools) schools in Dayton. It is a good alternative to some other schools in the area, however the Turkish run school needs a better grasp on Special Education,

the 3rd.grade teacher & director of displine are very rude & disrepectful period. I would NOT recommend your child to attend this school if he or she has been diagnosised with special needs. The staff is not trained to deal with children w/ IEP's. ALL they want to do is suspend, suspend and suspend. I was excited about my child attending the school then once the teacher read my child had an IEP her attitude changed towards him and she didn't want to deal with him at all. There is a law into effect no child left behind. maybe it just don't apply to this school.
