This school has come a long way in culture and performance over the last half decade or so. New leadership has really made the difference. Teachers and admin care about the whole student: physical, emotional, and educational health.

My child learned a lot of new skills in the school. The teachers who wrote negative comments are well known by the school community who did not do a good job teaching and were fired because of it.

This school has little interest in maintaining its standards. Teaches and students alike are leaving this school. The administration does not offer services to English Language Learners and the Title 1 support for remedial learners is sub par at best.. The school boasts 100% college acceptance but many of these students apply to colleges that will take anyone. There is no standards for high performance, Just look at the OAA scores. The police frequent the school as discipline fails to keep control of the students. If you are a teacher looking at a job at this school, look elsewhere. With cameras in every room the administration is going to use these cameras to monitor the students and teachers from the office..

This school is not about the students. It is all about how to make money for the Turkish men who run the company. Student needs such as academic intervention, special education, counseling, and limited English assistance are not met. There were several times this past school year that there were not even substitute teachers in classrooms when the regular staff member was out. The principal even fired people by e-mail on a Sunday night right after school ended. I hardly call that ethical. The OAA test scores for grades 5-8 were pathetic. I do not recommend this non-unionized, public charter school to anyone. Teachers looking for jobs--keep on looking--you will find a better place. Parents--look carefully at their actual track record for academic success not just at their marketing materials. How many of the kids actually attend and stay enrolled in college once they do get in? What are the teachers' credentials? How long have teachers actually been in the country? What teaching experience do they have in inner city environments? Why are cameras needed in classrooms? It's because things ARE that bad at Horizon.

My school is not really great but, it is ok. The teachers mostly don't teach really well, and students don't learn good, and that's why most students go to another school, and some other students just stay there because they don't have any choice......

They only take the best of the best. Your child must pass the interview. We waited on a waiting list 8 months, no call. Then reapplied the next year only to be told there was no room.

Teachers and staff take care of the students because its a small school. I love it because its a College-Prep Academy
