The principal is very unprofessional when it comes to situations regarding her students . The school is very unorganized , and there has been multiple incidents where they don’t know where my daughter is .

They teach the kids that it is acceptable to allow others to treat you poorly while not being allowed to stick up for yourself. Bullying is not only allowed, but ENCOURAGED at this school. If you teach your kid not to bully as well as not allowing others to bully them, they will be mistreated by the staff as the problem. They think it is ok to not teach the kids because on average all children are 6 months or more behind schedule anyways. Instead of helping the children, they are misleading them. My child has had bad experience after bad experience while only trying to learn and not be bullied. This school has made him hate going daily because of the way he has been treated. Only one teacher he has had there has helped him and she came from another school when it was shut down. If she followed him yearly, maybe things would be different. Maybe the school needs to take some recommendations from her.
The principal will not call you back to resolve issues, and if by chance you get in touch with her, she will state she is looking into something and still do nothing to help better a situation.

As a parent I even think the other reviews are fake as I don’t think its a very great school cause on the first day my son got into the car crying cause of how mean the said “teachers” were he said he got in trouble for calling the teacher a name I’m guessing idiot but I couldn’t tell cause of how he was talking cause he was still crying at this moment and I knew he didn’t say the name to the teachers face cause he told me some kid told on him and he had to sit out recess for 30 minutes and he also told me “ there was also like 18 other kids sit tough out recess too and me and some other kid asked if we could sit in the shade but the teacher said “no your going to sit where I can see you” and where she could see us was on the hot pavement and the teachers weren’t even looking at us they were talking and watching kids play basketball also we were sitting near an open gate” after this I honestly think I’m going to transfer my kid to a different school also he told me that the teachers were wokeists and as a Christian mother I don’t think my son should be learning any of that.

first day of preschool ruined. I dropped my 4 yrs old child on car line drop off(stop car at front of school and staff from school help kids off and walk him). I told them he already had breakfast but they took my child to breakfast hall which he was not told and not expecting. He was sitting in the hall all by himself eating(confused) when i went inside after parking my car. I panicked outside when i didn't see my child with his teacher. When i asked about my child, she said i don't know may be he is in breakfast hall inside. Visitor pass should have provided or informed earlier. sitting almost more than 20 minutes for visitor pass line confused me even though its for my child's safety. finally when I am inside his classroom to drop him for his first day. I was expecting his teacher will greet my child, hold his hand and show him seat even if he is late(because of long line in visitor pass) because it is his first day after all. I think all children really need is a big welcome on first day which will make both teacher and parent's life way much easier on following days. I am upset how my crying child is pulled inside classroom when he followed me to the door. I wish she assured him saying your mom will come back and let him say bye and pull him in. I understand it is not only my child, there is 20 children to take care but first day is first day no mater what. The child doesn't care there is 20 students to take care, all he care is where i am? who are these strangers? is this place fun and safe to stay? In my opinion first day of Pre-k is all about making kids happy and making sure they accept their teacher as trustful grown up in the absence of their parents and classroom(their second home) but not scaring them away. I believe if children feel welcomed and loved and not rushed on first day, they will enjoy and learn more. I am not saying his teacher is bad she seems very nice and she must be trying her best. this is my review observing based on my first day drop off . I felt bad that means something is not right so i am writing. I wondered how long did he cry or how he got settled. I know my child and he is very scared this morning.

My son had the privilege of attending Whittier from kindergarten through 5th grade. My daughter has gone to Whittier since kindergarten and is now in 3rd grade. Whittier is not just a school but it is a family. Students know they are loved and wanted!

As a grandmother of two student attending Whittier, I have had nothing but positive encounters with all the staff and some of the families there. The teachers work more hours than their pay covers finding ways to help each student in their classroom be successful. A well rounded school and staff!

Despite the ridiculous state grading system, Whittier is an A+ school. Children are not expected to fit into a cookie cutter mold. In fact, they are encouraged to pursue their individual gifts. Staff has always been professional yet warm and caring. I cannot think of any place I would send my children.

I have a son that attended Whittier Elementary a long time ago he is now 28 year old. When he was there it was a great school then and that has not changed except it got even GREATER than it was back then. Teachers come and go over the years, but what that school stands for doesn't. That is for the way that school has been ran that helps out for the care those teacher give the children. You have to have a strong teachers to do what they do everyday and it really helps to have a very strong principle like Whittier has in Melanie Nungesser. Now how I know that now is because I have 2 grandson yet again that going to Whittier and one going to being there in a few more years. Mrs. Nungesser and all of the teachers that I have been in contacted with and seeing all of the other teachers that haven't had contact with yet are the most caring, loving and they want what will be best for each and everyone of the children that attend Whittier and even after they leave and move on to middle school and high school they try to keep tabs on them to make sure BEST! My daughter is in her 3rd year at Whittier Elem. School. I have always heard wonderful things about the staff at Whittier and the children who graduate from Whittier. My daughter is a transfer child. (Our home is out of Whittier school area) I am so pleased that my daughter attends Whittier and she enjoys going to school everyday! The teachers and staff are so friendly, and the loving attention that is given to each child is apparent for everyone to see. I volunteer frequently at the school and enjoy the time spent with students and faculty. The children that attend Whittier are proud, caring, supportive, smart and talented students. The opportunities to learn a musical instrument and/or read music are given. The children are praised for their academic achievements and attendance is applauded by everyone. To be apart of the Whittier team is a privilege and I know that my daughter will have a brighter future for being apart of it!

Whittier is a child centered school. When you walk in the halls you can feel the warm, friendly atmosphere. It's been a Great Expectations Model School the last 10 years. The annual Arts for Small is a tradition like no other. The staff provides hands-on experiences to make learning FUN! Whittier is amazing!

I love this school! My sin attended two years for first and second grade. This school was like a second family to him. It's a tight knit community. It is a Great Expectations model school making the classroom and school wide management absolutely amazing. Children really do learn to love and respect each other. All in all it really is an amazing school.
