East Providence High School has an epidemic of terrible leadership and often discourages students. Very few teachers are willing to teach as most just puts a power point for students to take notes and then give out homework oppose to something much more hands on and interesting. Being that it is my last year here, I can honestly say that EPHS is not a fair environment to both students and faculty members. The teachers that do teach and provide a helpful and interesting classroom do not have the resources that they need (broken SmartBoards, cold classrooms) and as for the students, the staff (administration) gives a special privilege to athletes. Some members of the staff are biased and even though the school's policy of discrimination is "re-enforced", it really isn't. How they deal with bullying and other important issues are not helpful. EPHS does have a social worker (who is great by the way!), but many students who are struggling with mental health issues (anxiety, depression, etcetra) are not really offered the opportunity to meet the social worker; many students actually don't know that we have this service. When it comes to a safe environment, East Providence High School would rank a 3.5/10 for me personally due to the lack of mental health help and the condition of the school overall. The school has much potential if it was under better leadership and provided teachers that actually cared about the students and are passionate about the subject, but I would say that only 50% (maybe less) of the teachers are actually passionate about what they teach. I enjoyed the (semi) diverse environment that an urban ring public school provides, but when it comes to racism, EPHS is pretty bad at dealing with it. Caucasian students are allowed to speak bigotry and xenophobic views with little to no consequences. The social probation rule that the school has also discourages students to join in school activities since after six tardies/unexcused absences, you're not allowed to go to (most) functions, including battle of classes. When it comes to spirit, if it wasn't for the students, there would absolutely be none.

Our son is getting a wonderful education at East Providence High School. The character they build in this school is beyond compare. Teachers are caring, competent, and go above-and-beyond to reach their students. The administration team in place is organized, approachable, and caring. The students who emerge from this school are well-rounded citizens: smart, centered, and committed to their community.

Ok, can anyone tell me what is the purpose of the senior project. I can tell you that in my household it has just been just the stress and the expense. For Gods sake let the senior year be a year that these seniors can enjoy since the other 3 years have difficult ones East Providence High is not the greatest school to be in.

The teachers in this school care about their students however that same level of caring about education isn't necessarily replicated within the student body. In fact the student body here is the most disgusting i have ever seen. They swear constantly, they enjoy bullying. The level of Homophobia is at unparalleled levels.

I attended East Providence High School and I can honestly say that the teachers, staff, nor the principal was at all helpful in ANY situation. If you are having trouble in your classes the teachers tell you to try harder when students can only try so hard. When a student asks for help it should be given. I failed English 9 due to issues with me, my parents, and the teacher. Instead of giving me a different teacher the next year they gave me the same one.. 3 TIMES. Each time failing while I was passing 10th and 11th grade English with no issues, I have a post high school reading level and found this to be ridiculous. If you are absent for a week or more due to personal reasons or being sick, instead of the staff showing compassion and caring, they threaten to suspend and even expel you. This school is utterly ridiculous and I DO NOT BY ANY MEANS RECOMMEND SENDING YOUR CHILD THERE. It is an unsafe, un-nurturing environment with hostile staff, students, and teachers. And the school buildings state? The School is falling apart at every corner no matter how many "renovations" they are doing. (Tiles containing asbestos still remain after 2 YEARS when they were told to remove it)

Avoid this school at all costs - My daughter has been going here for almost a year and her grades have done a nose dive do the teachers feel any respoinsibility for this (you know cause they are the ones teaching) nope they blame everyone but themselves for your childs bad grades it either the student not working hard enough or the parent is not doing enough but you will never hear them say its me I need more time with your child to get them to understand the subject at hand

EPHS is a jungle. The staff will appear helpful when u go in to meet with them but they do not come through at all. I sent my child here and her grades plummeted right down, along with other issues. Which, btw did not get addressed as of yet and now it is summer time. Some children can survive the large, urban school but then some cannot. Mine cannot and I am working on finding another environment for her. ADVICE: If your child has a learning issue, find another small setting. Or get ready to be chasing down faculty there all year long!
