Does not care about students, death threats almost every month. Fights every week, I don't feel safe here and teachers don't care about teaching students. I will say that some teachers actually like their job and teach students to the best of their capability, but that is rare. Moving on the bathrooms have no soap, barely are cleaned, and there is always trash in there. Going to lunch, they can't even maintain an "A" from the health department. If you don't have your ID they starve you for 15 more minutes and leave you with about 5-7 minutes to eat your lunch. I absolutely HATE THIS SCHOOL.

This school has little to no parent engagement. Most of the teachers don’t seem to care much about grades or students turning in assignments. My daughter has been there for two years and not once have I been contacted about grades or behavior good or bad. Unless it’s an extreme event such as a fight. I wouldn’t suggest sending kids to long leaf. The entire public schooling in this state horrible.

Longleaf middle is, in my opinion, the best middle school in the area. Every morning when I walk in to school, teachers greet me with a simple "good morning", and even though I'm sure they do that for every student, it helps me start my day with a positive attitude. The teachers are all incredibly kind and intelligent, and always help me when I have bad grades. They truly understand that despite my bad grades, I really do have potential. They have helped me bring up my grades all year.
The school lunches could use a little work, but that's the case for any public school. Their safety procedures during CoViD-19 are keeping the students safe, and are very effective. I haven't heard of any outbreaks in the school thus far.
Each student gets a personalized learning experience, as the teachers care about each of their students. For me, the teachers were glad to tutor me during the week.
I'm happy to say this is the best middle school I've ever attended.

Zoobot teachers are more effective than regular teachers in my opinion

If your gay, This is not your school... You will be picked on and left out of the crowd

They have a class for mentally ill students which is good

Posted: March 2, 2020

This one makes me laugh, Theres at least 3 fights a week and i see students get bullied all the time. Its kind of normal here

Posted: January 27, 2020

The overall experience at LMS has been terrible. We are pulling our child out of that school

Posted: January 27, 2020

They do not teach the content prior to assigning homework nor do the teachers assist students who need additional assistance.

Posted: January 27, 2020

The teachers do not support student success. They often disrespect the students, do not respond to bullying, etc.

My daughter was bullied. When brought to the schools attention they did nothing

It is an advanced school. They are equipped with needed necessities and more. They have occasional activities that are fun and interesting most of the time. There are really good teachers there but they are some awful ones. It's my first year here after a private school and I think it is really good I just don't like the students though but nobody likes everyone. You should try it.

Posted: February 19, 2019

Some teachers give a lot of homework some barely and some at a moderation like every school.

Posted: February 19, 2019

Their good teachers and even though some very few are bad most are good some are even amazing and receive lots of praise

Posted: February 19, 2019

Posted: February 19, 2019

It supports student leadership so much and I like that.

Posted: February 19, 2019

It has multiple classes for this and I visited one before and it seems nice and warm like a family and the teachers really cared for the disabled children

Posted: February 19, 2019

It does input a no bullying tolerated rule and it is serious but not that serious.

Posted: February 21, 2018

This school does pretty decent homework but the homework is not challenging enough and not at the right grade level I came into math having a A+ on stuff i didn't even learn.

Posted: February 21, 2018

Most of the teachers in this school pick favorites not all of them but most, Teachers don't really punish the students a lot like they're supposed to(some teachers),and can be very leanient and not do work or being very helpful .

Posted: February 21, 2018

This is completely un-correct the students here bring you down all the time if you act Bi-sexaul/gay in the littlest way you will be shut-out and basically bullied , they aren't welcoming either they just ignore them and scream all day in the class.

Posted: February 21, 2018

No the leadership is very poor at this school children are constantly getting ISS,OSS and call homes and the parents act like they just don't care because they do the same thing the next day.(ISS=in school suspention)

Posted: February 21, 2018

Yes this is true because this school has a program who supports mentally ill children.

Posted: February 21, 2018

If there was a half of a star then i would put that.(This is a student that has been here for 1 week and this bad of a review is unacceptable Step it up longleaf .)

This school has been the worst my kids have ever been to. From the bullying to the education. No support for children who struggle, all they do is push them thru with credit recovery or summer school.

I realize that there are some complaints on this site. So I had to give my opinion because I disagree. I was worried about sending my child to middle school. She has had a great experience at this school. The teachers are helpful and there if you need them. The administration is great even though this is a newer school.

Posted: July 24, 2015

My daughter had some really great teachers in her 6th grade year. She comes home a lot saying good things about her classes.

Posted: February 23, 2015

This school was seemingly average with a lot of racism towards all groups *not just blacks* and homophobia. I am not sending my second child here because my first daughter hated it and the teachers were overall pretty distant with a few here and there being decent. If your kid wants to exceed please do not send them to this school. The Zoobot program is alright but you have to be in the "inner circle" to get the benefits. My daughter's schedule filled up so she could not take the classes 7th and 8th grade year.

My daughter attends this school and for the last two i have not been impressed. My daughter gets pushed along and no one helps her I have asked for help but getting a conference with anyone is nearly impossible. She is very shy and unique in her own way. She had one teacher last year that called her name wrong all year I even had to step in and tell her off. Read the comments you will see the students cant even spell that should tell its own story of the school.

Longleaf Middle School is a great school with phenomenal teachers. The ZooBot magnet program has teachers that truly care about their students and want them to be successful learners for life. They also just became a whole school magnet with a STEAM focus. Looking forward to seeing what this next year has in store for this wonderful school.
