Teachers are usually helpful and give good resources to help students with understanding the material, and the later due dates for assignments and having no live classes on Fridays makes it easier to work at your own pace. I will say however that it is VERY hard to make friends through school here unless you're attending the outings. There are very few opportunities to exchange contact info with other students/communicate outside of class, which makes it very difficult to get to know your classmates. If you don't have a lot of local events to attend or don't already have a strong friend group it can be very lonely :/

Do not send your kids to this school because it takes forever for them to communicate with. Also my daughter has ADHD and the chats really distract her the teacher told her to close the chat but she showed me that you can still see when someone typed in the chat and this teacher had a nasty attitude towards me basically saying this is my class I don’t have to turn the chat off if I don’t want to.

Seriously one of the worst schools I've ever attended. If you have no social life and dedicate your entire days and nights to school, this place is for you. If you miss even ONE ASSIGNMENT you'll fall behind and get terrorized by your teachers through email. Telling you to "try to keep up" instead of helping. I wish I never went here.

This school is far superior to brick-and-mortar schools. It allows parents to be fully aware of what their children are learning, and the classes are recorded. You are always able to access your child's assignments, grades, and content. I no longer worry about indoctrination and feel that I feel that I once again have parental control.

This school offers help sessions, so you can get help if you need it and you can get help from other students if you ask them to help.

This school is very flexible and challenging. The teachers try their very best to teach every student and make sure everyone understand before they move on to another topic. If the student doesn't understand, they may not have asked for any help. Some guidance counselors are slack, but you can report them and get help from other advisors (guidance counselors). This is a pretty good school with a few flaws that they are trying to work out.

This is a horrible school. They withdrew my child right before his IEP meeting for no reason other than, "We don't believe our school is a good fit for your student." Now I am struggling try to find the right class placement without the proper paperwork. This school is definitely not a good option for any child that learns differently. So much for "individualized learning".

Absolute WORST SCHOOL I have ever been enrolled in. The class is not made to fit different needs (algebra especially!!) and doesn't teach you enough to know the material. The course has broken on me. Absolutely ridiculous. I failed algebra 2 because of the poor design of this school, had I gone with my normal school I would have passed, because unlike this school it offers different learning approaches. Never doing this school again.

Terrible administration staff. I had to make a records request 5 times before they even replied to my request, and then they tried to play it off as if it was my error.

If my request was missing some required info, then why not point that out to me BEFORE I HAVE HAD TO ASK 5 TIMES?!

Is a solidly average school if you have an above average student who needs a flexible schedule. If your student needs special attention, then they are not the right choice.

AND, if you ever need any information out of them....Better just forget about it.....

There really is no "homework" since you structure your day yourself but you also need to be able to truly teach yourself if you aren't able to watch the live classes (even when we did watch them though I can't say they were related to the tests for the classes. The AP classes are pathetic and my biology class consists of watching other teachers on YouTube

Communication with the high school teachers is frustrating and frequently takes a few days to get a response. Our guidance counselor did not provide accurate info with initial registration and classes such as AP Biology are offered through a different online school and start a month or so after the regular school year so it isn't possible to change classes if you need the science credit and really struggle in the class. If my student were not a senior I would absolutely try to come up with an alternative to this experience.

There was barely any, perhaps if they offered more practice work and didn't just throw quizzes at students, the students would actually have the ability to learn something from the very little "text book" reading that is provided.

I attended SCVCS for all 4 years of my high school education and had nothing but trouble the entire time. I had one or two teacher who were truly helpful but most were distant and lazy. There is nothing but quizzes and test, no practice or building work. The tech support is a joke and the "class connect" live classes rarely work and through 4 years and dozens of teachers most of them rambled on about the weather or other random topics and rarely addressed actual work. The ones who did would just show all the same info from the slideshow they call a text book. I was no A+ student in physical school but once entering this school my gpa dropped to a 1.3. Work, especially for the art or digital classes, entirely consisted of " copy these steps exactly to create an exact copy of this project, and then create your own original work despite not actually being taught, merely just copy and pasting. I could go on and on about the flaws the school and its horrible councilors were but it would take another wasted 4 years of my life. I quite literately had one black mail me cause I asked for help due to the fact I had missed many days due to an unrelated severe trauma, claiming since she helped me she could do what she wants and have me kicked out of the school, and then when I called her out on it she conveniently dropped me and had me moved to a new councilor before I had her reported. It's unbelievable how many poor students fall for the K12 commercials hoping this school can give them a safe haven to learn only to have many fail and be disappointing, sure you could blame the students but think about it like this. I was told about approximately 600 students were enrolled as seniors this year, only 105 passed. Perhaps its the students, but with those number seems more like the school to me.

SCVCS is one of the worst schools I've ever attended. First off, this school lacks communication. It took forever to set up my schedule. Ever single time I would try to email admistration, I wouldn't get a response until 2 or more days later. SCVCS's curriculum is deplorable. I've had nothing but quizes and tests. Hardly any actual practice work to complete. Thirdly, the live lessons are awful and unispiring. The program they use for it constantly malfuctions. They say the lessons are "mandatory" but don't punish you if you don't attend. Lastly all the courses they advertise on the official K12 page aren't actually available at SCVCS. The courses they do offer are in small pickings and basic courses. Hardly any AP classes and zero honors. Overall, I've had a nightmare at this school and can't wait to go back to real highschool.

Same curriculum but kids move at their own pace, no more changing classes, teacher issues, teaching to the lowest common denominator. We love it!

I absolutely love SCVCS!!! It gives me the chance to do what I could not do at a brick and mortar school. I plan on staying with SCVCS all the way up to graduation from high school.
