They do this thing during rewards ceremony where they will pass put an EMPTY envelope to the students who supposedly didnt earn any rewards. How any school can think that this is acceptable to do to a child is beyond disgusting. I can only imagine how angry the parents must feel on behalf of their child receiving an EMPTY envelope. Its no wonder parents are looking at private schools. Can you imagine receiving an EMPTY envelope during an awards ceremony with everyone on stage with you? Its one thing to receive nothing....but an EMPTY envelope? Pathetic and shame to the adults running this school.

The punishments here for forgetting homework or not finishing their work on time during class is to miss out on recess. These are elementary students...not High Schoolers. All this has done is increase my child's self hatred towards himself. It did not motivate him to finish faster. It only caused him to make more mistakes. My other child had a teacher who had no business being around children. Her short temper and conduct towards the class was highly unprofessional. One classmate/friend of my child expressed to me how much he begged his mom to not send him to school. His mom would tell me about him crying in the car on the way to school...because of a teacher. No child should feel that way. The teachers seem to only want to punish students and ignore them everytime they raise their hand to answer a question.

Amazing that some of the reviews below are allowed to stay… if your child has a truancy issue, they are required by law to address it- sounds like that person had been avoiding all communication from the school so the principal had to step in… for the review indicating that there is poor communication between teachers and parents on test dates and content, they clearly aren’t using the technology tools available to them (class dojo) or reading the teacher’s weekly status reports… sounds like the issue is your son not bringing information home and not an issue with his teacher. Also, one of the main goals of school is to grow our children into responsible members of society. If the parent is the one managing the child’s schedule and reminding every time there is a test, that child will never learn to take responsibility and the consequences of not being accountable.

My family’s experience with LES has been completely different from these reviews. Every concern I have raised has been met with professionalism and accountability. The teachers have been phenomenal. Communication comes home weekly and there is an envelope you must sign acknowledging the receipt of the communication. The principal posts at least monthly on upcoming events and school wide initiatives. They are intentional about creating a nurturing and welcoming environment for all students. I can’t say enough positives about this school and it’s administration.

Also, school was torn down and rebuilt in 2018 (I believe), so the reviews about the building being run down are out of date.

Well it happened again today I went all the through the car line . First the gym teacher did not call for my granddaughter. When I got up to where my granddaughter should have got in the car with a letter that other children were handed before they got in there cars. The principal who knew who I was walked up very arrogant handed me the letter and said with a bad attitude and mask down and closer then six feet told me that I needed to account for absences and when she did not get the reaction she wanted she then went and got my granddaughter. It was very childish of them and I feel like they are trying to provoke me.

There is less classroom communication to parents than at the other school in the district we attended. It's always a struggle to know what a test is actually going to be on (to help our son prepare) when homework is actually due, etc. We have to make our son ask the teacher these questions and then trust him to relay the answers back. The previous school in the same district always send home information about what day the test would happen and the subject matter, when homework was do, etc. Now, at best, you'll get something like "Probably due sometime next week". And that's after asking the teacher.

My son is learning, although we work with him a great deal at home as well. He hasn't fallen behind since moving to the new school. He likes his teacher.

We moved to this school in the middle of the year at Christmas break a year ago (having now been in the school 2+ semesters). My son has indicated that the culture in the school has been declining with time. The number of students involved in light bullying and relatively harmless verbal harassment has been steadily climbing according to him. You're more likely all the time to be made fun of because of your footwear or your hair cut, etc.

The administration at this school is terrible. This is what inspired me to write this review today. They all have an attitude of complete disrespect for parents. At every turn you can expect to be treated worse than at the DMV. My family came from a nearby elementary school (Blaney) in the same district, and the difference in attitude was shocking.
Here is just one small example from early in the year:
They send home two pieces of printed construction paper with the name of the student and a school logo printed on them to be placed in car windows during dismissal. My family has more than two vehicles, and I asked if I could get more of the signs. The lady told me, without a drop of humor, that I simply "Had too many vehicles". I agreed with as if she was joking and returned the subject again to getting more signs. She told me that there would be a charge of $10 per piece of paper. I suggested the easiest thing would be for me to simply make a copy of the signs but she insisted I was not allowed to do so and turned her back on me and walked off.
Every interaction the administration has been dismissive, unhelpful, visibly annoyed, and condescending.

I'm not aware of anyone being severely bullied, but the culture has declined in quality according to my son who says that verbal harassment is on the rise.

Very poor, as a parent. My limited interaction with teachers has been positive, but every single interaction with administration is a nightmare.

Homework reinforces what is learned in the classroom. It is not busy work. The amount is just right.

This school is fantastic. The building is dated, but they are in process of building a new one.

My daughter has been at this school since kindergarten and is finishing up 5th grade. My other daughter just started this year. I have been very happy with the school. We have had some minor issues come up over the years, but all have been worked out to my satisfaction. Good cooperation from teachers and administration.

I am not at all happy with the curriculum or the quality of teachers they have. Not that some of the teachers aren't good. They did have one teacher win an award. I don't think the principal will be winning any awards though. The principal is responsible for the overall well being of the school and I feel the school has been let down. The school has potential but they don't seem to be seeking it.
