Airport High School is really what you make of it. Make sure your student stays in the highest level of classes possible and they will be good. There are not major differences between the coursework, but there is a huge difference in the quality of the classroom. The lower level classes are filled with students that don't care about being there, being quiet or behaving, making it impossible for the students that do care to learn anything. The higher level courses, the students are well behaved and carry on insightful class conversations and make it a wonderful learning environment.
I've found that majority of the teachers like the school and care about their students. Safety is not a major issue in this school- never felt threatened or saw any physical violence between students. There is a high emphasis on sports at the school and between the two high schools in Lexington II, Airport Football usually performs much better than Brookland-Cayce, and draws more attention.
