Most teachers are pretty awesome. Mostly the male ones are the best, but of course there are variations. There are some very stingy and outright low quality teachers though, some that not only dont teach, but then give massive busy work on the topics they didnt instruct. The sports area is also quite buns the flagship is football of course, yet the team is usually pretty horrendous. Staff (principles+administrators) are also bad .their sensitivity to non-issues is quite interesting as they cancel the most important time of the days (half time), where students can have a break + go to clubs or get tutored, over slight rain or cold temperatures. Seriously what are we thinking there. All in all, its not a terrible school, and the only thing saving it are a select few teachers and the opportunities for driven students.

As a former student, I highly encourage parents to take your child somewhere else. Teachers have a "don't care" attitude and the few teachers that were good have left this school. This school has failed me in all levels. It has not prepared me for real life and my fiance was looked down on in college because he went here. Teachers and staff do not care unless your child is well known or popular. Teachers do what they want. (For example: Teachers would play on their phone and give students busy work, instead of teaching.) Bullies are not disciplined. Their motto is "enter to learn, go forth to serve!" because with the education you receive from Brookland-Cayce is only good to be a server at a restaurant.

BC is a wonderful school located a couple blocks over the bridge from downtown Columbia. I have found the school to be a wonderful high school for the area- teachers are engaging, the students are interested in what they are studying, and are able to carry on well thought-out discussions about the material during class time. The i2tech program that started this past year is amazing- the students are very engaged in their projects.
As for atmosphere, majority of students are well-behaved and friendly; never felt threatened or that students were grossly misbehaving.
