This school is an absolute nightmare. It feels like a dark cloud hangs over every corner, and no one seems to care about the torment I go through each day. The teachers and staff turn a blind eye to the bullying that suffocates my existence. It's heart-wrenching to be sitting in the guidance counselor's room, tears streaming down my cheeks, as I desperately beg for someone to do something, anything, about the cruelty I endure.

But all they tell me is to 'ignore' the pain and 'be the bigger person.' How can I be expected to carry this burden alone? I've been strong for so long, trying to be the bigger person, swallowing my tears and fears, but the torment never stops. It feels like I'm drowning in a sea of heartlessness and indifference.

To make matters worse, the teachers play favorites, glorifying those who disrupt classes, act out, or are popular, while the rest of us are left feeling invisible and insignificant. It's soul-crushing to see how these so-called educators value loudness over empathy, disruption over understanding, and popularity over genuine kindness.

Nothing seems to matter to them unless it impacts the school's precious reputation. They turn a blind eye to the horrors of bullying until it's too late – when violence, harassment, and threats loom over the school. It's sickening to realize that our pain only matters when it threatens their image.

This school, this place that should nurture and protect us, has become a battleground of pain and suffering. It feels like I'm trapped in a nightmarish world where I'm constantly belittled, dehumanized, and broken.

I dream of a place where compassion and empathy reign, where students are cherished for who they are, and their dreams are supported, not crushed. I long for a sanctuary where my cries for help are heard, and my pain is acknowledged. But as of now, this school is nothing more than a heartless, gut-wrenching nightmare, and it's simply not right.

Imro high has clearly dissapointed my by showing racial discrimiation and biased towards students of color. The caucasian student did not recieve any disciplanary action although the code of conduct was broken. Irmo high school states that they have a zero tolerance for bullying and using racial slurs against another student, but clearly that was not the case. The student of color was sent to alternative school because the student that was being bullied finally retalated after days on end of being called curse words and the "N" word, As of this day, it has been verified that the other student remained at the school to be able to continue her activities of bullying, which I am sure her parents are unaware of and the school district has no plans to uphold the code of conduct on the caucasian student.

This school has fallen a part. My son graduated in '21 and the last year was really rough, even by pandemic standards. Teachers were required to maintain online and in person classes. If your student went in person, then you had to deal with changes to the number of days a week students would go to class several times throughout the semester because the school wanted kids in person but did not have the adequate staff to support in person teaching when there were spikes in community viral activity. If you opted for online teaching, then you had to deal with an entire teaching staff have to learn to teach a completely different way with little to no training or support from the school. Little was done to prepare teachers to teach online, parents to support it or students to be held accountable. Now my daughter just completed her sophomore year and it appears that parents that valued school move their children elsewhere. My daughter often speaks of disruptive students making class impossible or students setting off the fire alarms for fun or from smoking in the bathrooms. Multiple teachers have alluded to most students failing to every turn in work. When I contacted one teacher to see what help my daughter could get since she had a C in her class, I was told by the teacher that she had students that never turned in any work and that a C student turning in most work was simply not a problem for her. (To be clear, I do not blame the teacher for this attitude and understand why she responded that way.) I went to the school mid-day to pick up paperwork to smell marijuana permeating the office area. That school is overrun by misbehaving students and a staff that is over-worked and not supported. My daughter will not be going to this school next year.

I know my children are learning relevant and in-depth information. They do have homework. On the other hand, they also have time to participate in sports and extracurricular activities. Homework is meaningful and not too much.

Teachers are informed, smart, kind. What more can I ask for?! They know the material well and present it in various ways. I know my children are learning and are learning from capable teachers when they are at school.

I am a parent of two students at IHS. They are receiving a well-rounded academic education as well as opportunities to participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities (language club, investments, theater tech, & academic science team, for example) and sports. Academics are well balanced and relevant. It is a great school!

Irmo is a great high school. There is something that appeals to all; from the arts, athletics, and technologies. Plus the teachers and staff genuinely care about the well being of the students.

We absolutely love Irmo High! The leadership, students, coaches, support staff, and of course teachers all work together to make Irmo the best it can be. We wouldn't have chosen another school for our son to attend.

Teachers take the time to make sure your student understands the material and offers assistance when needed. Several teachers have been teaching at Irmo for 15+ years. They are involved in extra curricular activities as well and support students in and out of the classroom.

Dr. Hardy is incredible! This is her first year at Irmo High and her dedication and commitment to the school is evident through her visibility at events from athletics to the arts. Great school. Wonderful students, teachers and administrators. ACT and SAT scores are above state and national average. Niche.com ranks in top 30 high schools in SC. Students are prepared for college once they graduate from Irmo High. My children received a well-rounded education. They were prepared for college and the diversity of the real world. Irmo High is an excellent school. Irmo High has outstanding IB, AP, and arts programs. I have two children that recently graduated from Irmo and both were very well prepared for college. The faculty, staff and administrators really care about the students and their success. Principal Riegel has done an excellent job in the three years he has been at Irmo High. The rating of 3 on here in no way accurately portrays this school.
