I've been impressed with the teachers and the curriculum over the last 3+ years that I've had kids in the Leadership program here (Leadership At Wright = LAW). The LAW program at ELW allows students the experience of a smaller school and can get to know their classmates better. ----

One of my kids just told me that she loves her 7th grade LAW experience so far: that the subject matter is fascinating, and that her teachers engage the students in her classes. ----

Every year I especially love the band / chorus/ orchestra concerts. I enjoy the atmosphere with fun music. The advanced band was particularly good, and the chorus articulated their words enough that I could understand them, which can be tough for a young group. It's great to see kids supporting one another and cheering for each other. ----

On a different note, the car rider line has improved greatly since the new construction, but you might want to figure out a carpool or the bus, especially for the afternoon. Last time I did afternoon pickup (last year), the line didn't start to clear up until about 40 minutes after the end of school.

The school is okay but some teachers just don’t care or just mean as heck! The students there plan a fight and there is like 3 fights everyday no matter what grade. A lot of people have beef and fight and the teachers don’t do anything. After fights and stuff they do a pretty good job but that’s pretty much it. If a school shooting or fire or something happens the school is calm and safe. I don’t really know what to say about if you should go to the school or not, but you can make friends and have fun it’s just there is some bullies or stupid playful kids that might just ruin your day or experience there. It’s alright to be honest.

My student was assaulted, bullied and harassed. I filed several complaints, and nothing was done. I felt like they cared more about the number of students over the safety of the student. I asked what the process was for bullies and physical assault and the response was they will be expelled however nothing was done. BUT... the staff did suggest I set him up for online school since there was a problem with him being bullied. mind you instead of removing the kids who were at fault you want me to remove my student. It also caused issues in his studies, and they would not address this other than to say my student was slipping in grades.

This has been the absolute worse experience I have ever had enrolling and getting an response from any one that works here about anything. We are prior military and have lived all over and this school is the worse. My child's first week, coming home she explains how the teachers have no control over their classes. I have tried to get answers to finish the enrollment with no response. I have reached out to district supervisors and it's just horrible all the way around. I see how this school has two stars. Living it personally, not impressed at all.

This school is the best; sometimes people can get into fights, but that's okay because we all make the wrong decision.

If you are not able to make friends with people that have bad behavior don't come here, black kids call each other monkeys, and the N word. You get to learn every curse word here, you get changed by this school in the worst way possible. If you are to come here try to get in LAW it is better than IB. White kids get attacked for saying the N word. There is always 2 fights, people get sexually abused and taken advantage of, drugs disguised a candy have been sold here, i have seen multiple deals. The teachers in IB are terrible and it is hard to keep them. Kids have sex in the bathrooms and talk about sex all the time. We have frequent police around the area just in case of a fight but they do nothing. THIS SCHOOL IS TERRIBLE DONT COME HERE.

I had the greatest experience. My teachers helped me learn. I had no issues here. They have great leadership. Their magnet program is literally called Leadership Acadamy.

Very very poor poor. You look on Parent Portal grades are not updated after a month or more lazy Ela teacher eighth grade. Have the nerve to get mad when you ask about your kid grades. Teacher don't care so the parent got to care. I don't care if you do get mad, I am going to continue to ask questions about grades ,if you don't want to answer a parent question. Maybe you are in the wrong business.

I think they could do a lot better

The principal won't meet with every parent that want a meeting with her. It's like she want to put you off to the assistant principal. When you don't get the results you want from an assistant principal then who is next in line? The principal!!!!

I really agree and disagree reason why ,you do have some good teachers. That cares!!! You also have some that don't. My son fail Ela for the first quarter so the second quarter he did all the extra credits. One of the extra credit had to have a form filled out and attached to it I personally stapled the form to it. With that being said I kept checking Parent Portal to see when she was going to put in the credit. Check with her and asked , she would not email back with answer. Emailed her again about a week or two later ask the same question ,why isn't it a great put in for extra credit. Her statement to me was he did not bring back the form signed. You got a student in your class failed first quarter the parent staple the papers together ,if the paper was missing when it got to the teacher what harm was it to let the parent know she needed the form? Especially if it was missing? What's wrong with saying the child did the work I would hate for him not to get credit for it. All I need is the form. Just don't care!

My daughter has been Bullied since the 1st Day of school. Nothing has been done. They give these bullies a slap on the wrist and tell the “victim” if it happens again, tells teacher. Well my daughter did just that, and the teachers response was “that’s life”. I’ve tried calling the 8th Grade Principal and the Principal of the school, and they’re never available. This school does not have a Zero Tolerance Bullying Policy.

My daughter has come home on SEVERAL occasions telling me how the teacher(s) let the students run the class. Her Chromebook was stolen while she was getting a drink, how did the teacher not see this?!?!
But it’s not just the teachers, it’s the parents too.

This school is awful! They don't handle the bullying well, the kids at this school think they're adults and the students makes the teachers cry. Also Fights and drama happen often for no reason. I wouldn't recommend sending your child here.

I give this school a 1 because my girls have come home with bruises and black eyes because of a fight the good thing is that they win all of them but my oldest needs help from her younger sister because she would get jumped. I recommend you stay away from this school keep you kids safe. The cops need to shut this down.!!

They don't give out homework about 30% of the school is falling

I have seen a whole lot but this is mad my kid would come home with black eyes at least three times a week and my husband would come home saying kids were fighting 10 times a day the bad thing is that the teachers are not allowed to break up the girl fights

Posted: May 21, 2017

Teacher at not effective at this school if they were there would be a whole lot less fights and kids would be passing

Posted: February 19, 2014

Horrible! Stay away. Teachers yell and demean kids regularly. Staff offers lip service only, very hard to work with admin. Poor teaching goes addressed. Another reason why SC is so low academically. Pulling my children out!

Posted: February 9, 2014

Very poor after school programs. Says it is enrichment but it is baby sitting at best. Poor quality of teachers; many not certified properly. Poor response to bullying. Find another school!

So far so good, My son is in the MID class, he likes the school. However I saw what the other comment was and totally agreed with it. Due to I have seen kids act like animals and girls act like its a fashion show with tight clothes and lots and lots of cosmetics on their face. Adults doesn't say much do to their jobs at risk when they do. Like I said as long as they don't bully my son, so far so good far now.
