This is the biggest one for me. Since my son has a major learning disability and is far behind the rest of his class, his teacher has taken all the necessary steps to start getting him tested for his disabilities so that we can correct them before they get worse.

100% Anytime I have any sort of issue with my son being picked on, his teacher handles it immediately. She stated that she absolutely does not tolerate that type of behavior.

Overall this has been the best experience that we have had so far. Both of my kids love their school, teachers, and peers. We have our difficult days, but the teachers really help with that. They are all so compassionate and truly care.

My son struggles with reading and writing and his teacher has given us alternative options for homework instead of forcing him to do what the rest of the class is doing

My son is in second grade and his teacher is ABSOLUTELY amazing! I have never seen a teacher so involved, loving, and caring as she is. She goes above and beyond for him every day and that means so much to us.

My daughter is in 1st grade and I love the fact that her teacher is strict with the class. I tell my daughter (when she complains) that she will thank her teacher for this later on in life. Right now she is teaching them respect and building their character.

Deer Creek Elementary is a great school! Our experience one year was very mediocre (not bad but not great, which left us in question) and the following year was awesome... so much depends on the teacher! I was very thankful my son got an amazing teacher the second year and he has thrived. Things to note: This is a larger school but very well run, organized, and structured. The principal, VP, and front desk lady are all awesome! There are a couple staff who are not very friendly though. Cons: This school desperately needs a way to welcome new families, whether it be beginning of the year or mid year. There are many new families in the area and would like to know what is going on and not just have to learn through word of mouth, while our kid misses the opportunity. How about a DCE-specific welcome packet with all the info, clubs, etc? Anything would have been nice to be informed! This info is not self explanatory on the websites to new families, who have come from other school districts/states/countries. Also, school starts fairly early, too early in my opinion for kids to engage in school work, but that is a district thing. Lastly, another con is- I was shocked there is almost no security. It is VERY relaxed. In this day and age, and coming from an elementary school where you are "buzzed" in, this school (and district) needs to get with the times. Securing a school is a good thing to do! I understand there are plans to change this currently and I hope that is correct. There is a very strong parent/teacher organization, yes lots of fundraising, but I see that as a good thing. Lots of parent involvement! I would recommend this school! The principal is doing a great job- thank you Mr. Wilhite!!

We spent 5 years with this school. Be prepared to be asked to send in money for anything and everything. The PTA loves to fund-raise and you will be asked to sell and buy all of it. The Principal likes to keep her high school-ratings and sweeps any negative incidents under the rug, quickly and quietly!

I will agree with another parent...The registrar is very unfriendly. Sour faced, bad attitude and will tell you anything (untrue) just to give an answer. very controlling. My daughters teacher however is wonderful. There is now a new principal. I didnt have any issues with the old one as others seem to have. Just be prepared that there will be no welcome committee when you arrive.

We began the school year with great excitement for our new kindergarten student. The staff seems to be very caring and supportive and my child is enjoying school. However, I am shocked by the attitude and the treatment I have received by the principal. She is extremely condescending and has made it obvious that parent volunteers are not welcome.

This is amazing elementary. My kid is learning more than I expected from my kindergarten kid. They have very good teachers and are very organized. It has security system installed. Leadership is very good. They also have a very good PTA participation, so you will never feel short of services. And because school is within the Deer Creek Community, it feels really safe.

Although parent involvement is great, the principal is dreadful. There is high teacher turnover at this school due to the principals tactics. The only thing saving my rating to average (I moved form the area) is the community and teachers. The principal needs to retire!
