Very difficult to understand how this school is rated 5-Star when their scores are consistently below state average, per your own site statistics

My son has basically stated every day that there is a race war happening here. He hates going because the black kids are favored by teachers as well as if he stands up for himself than he is "racist".
The only redeeming quality is the education is more than decent. Most teachers are willing to work hard to make sure kids are learning. Minus one awful drama teacher (but she is gone now)

I am very happy with our experiences at Barber. Learning is happening, social skills are being developed, and my son looks forward to going to school every day. The school is orderly, clean and well-managed. I was happy to see the longer classes this year. Very pleased.

Barber is a great campus. The teachers there go above and beyond, they buy meals for students, provide extra tutoring and are easy to get a hold of. The clubs there are fantastic and my child loved to go to school.

My child attends this BMS as di her siblings. The staff is phenomenal. They are professional, highly qualified to teach and most of all care about each student as an individual. Communication with home is excellent. The campus is state of the art, clean and inviting. My child feels safe there and nurtured. Dickinson is a great place to raise your family!

Barber Middle School is a dynamic positive force shaping the lives of hundreds of students each year. The staff is very dedicated to meeting the academic, social and emotional needs of all our students. Yes, we set high expectaions for academics, but we also work towards helping children thrive and grow in today's world. Hat's off to our front office team, custodial staff and cafeteria staff for helping us make Barber a safe haven for kids. You won't find a more dedicated team of teachers and administrators working to meet the needs of all the students.

As a grandparent of one of the 6th graders , I attended many of the functions. I was especially impressed with the band director who enthusiastically took charge and the young folks were great in a very short period of time. The other activity that impressed me was the Robotics club. The two monitors encouraged the kids and they responded and did quite well. I appreciate their enthusiastic leadership. I had the opportunity to speak with other teachers and the principal and was very impressed. My thanks to all.

I have been working at BMS for 6 years now and I love my job. It is rewarding to help mold Dickinson children into great ambassadors for learning. We set high expectations and accept nothing but the best from each child. We have many clubs to allow students to find their niche in their creativity. Our office staff shows exemplary professionalism and is welcoming to each individual that comes in our doors. Our administrators demonstrate excellent leadership and fairness. We as a staff become hero's for the next generation of leaders. I am proud to work at BMS.

If you have no other choice to enroll your kids here at this school Then Make Sure you have a Computer because I have lost count how many times they have messed up on online grades, attendance, and so forth. You have to be on top of it because they aren't. I have never seen such a DISORGANIZED SCHOOL like this in my life. PARENTS BEWARE!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this school to anyone!
