We sought out Steele upon our return from overseas. It has been exactly what our son needed. The administration and teachers are responsive, and I am always informed. If you're looking for a diverse student body and support, Steele is the school for you.

My child has enjoyed the opportunities available from athletics, to band/fine arts, to CTE. She's developed fantastic relationships with her teachers and the staff on campus genuinely care about the students.

My child transferred from Clemens to Steele 21-22 school year. I ended up withdrawing due to lack of support from Special Education. The teachers were not following her ARD/IEP. I felt she got lost here. My child said she was belittled by teachers because of her special needs. Samuel Clemens High School was just as bad if not worse. The school district used to be highly rated but possibly do to the tremendous increase in student population the school recourses/teachers cannot keep up. Makes me wonder where my annual $7k in school taxes are going.

My son has absolutely excelled here. I can’t thank his coaches enough for their care and mentorship. The support from parents and the community keeps these teens engaged and safe without being smothered. The principal is fun and seems to genuinely love the kids she serves. Most of the staff really care about the students and are accommodating to individual needs. I’m so glad we moved here. Go knights!

Graduated in 2016...my daughter will be a future student here. I am currently commuting from Lackland and back so she can do this along with her future siblings. While being a student there I had a few personal close friends take their life/pass away and while the school handled them well a certain teach had been very rude in telling my class "I know we just had a classmate pass away but we need to get back to work" in response to myself and a couple other classmates crying. Very insensitive. I don't agree with how much homework was being assigned. After being in class for 8 hours no student should have to come home and spend another 4 hours on homework. The sports program is great with amazing coaches that impact you beyond your high school years. There were a few coaches during my time that absolutely played favorites. But overall great school and would recommend to parents looking for great education for their kids.

Great military family focused school. Have not heard any bad things about the school. My daughter is excited to go to Steele High School.

I loved this school and was almost depressed when I had to move. A great school with awesome students and teachers with avery awesome athletic and academic program

Volleyball coach is the worst we have had. It is obvious she has favorites and plays them over better firls sitting on the bench. Maybe she is getting kick backs from those parents. She is biast toward #4 even though she cant play back row....and she can only play front row 1/2 the time.....maybe because her mom is runs the booster program. If it was any other girl....she would be yanked because thats what happens to all the other girls who make just one mistake. They have lost so many games....and unfortunately, I hope they lose the rest of them. DO NOT come here for the girls Vball program until this coach leaves. Its a shame cause we like the rest of the school, but she caused us to have a negative outlook on this school. Please Steele....get someone who knows how to coach!!!

Being that the San Antonio area is a large military community, a majority of the children that attend this and the other surrounding schools are from military families. If it weren't for this demographic the population would be half of what it is. Yes, there is a huge emphasis on football, this is Texas. There are a ton of other extra-curricular that the school offers and are rated by UIL competitions. I'm pleased with the education that my daughter has been receiving at Steele, she has been involved with softball and band as well as being enrolled in AP and dual credit classes. At least once a week there is a message sent via recording to my phone from the VP letting me know what is going on in the coming week, or if there was a drill of some kind. All of the teachers have been very encouraging and fair. All of the staff and faculty that my daughter has been in contact with utilize both phone and e-mail to keep the parents informed. This is a wonderful school and I am grateful for the opportunity to be a mom of Steele.

Being military and when we first were looking where to move in this area, I liked this school looked the best of the many we saw. The other high school, Clemens, was at a 7 with Steele at an 8. This is not solely what helped our decision, but we liked the area, so Steele was our zoned school. It has been a real eye opener. First, a coach who said try outs were for two weeks, didn't pay attention to most of the girls, and then decided after one week. Here, I say no integrity. Next, a dance teacher who was supposed to be in charge of a team didn't show up a lot of the time. The students were left to work things out and there were sometimes disputes. I am glad things didn't get too out of control and no one got hurt. To this, no accountability. I had to go in to discuss the fact that my child could not hear the teacher because there was always so much talking around her. The counselor's suggestion was to change her to a different class. Hmm. I think this school exudes the positive, but I can't pinpoint what makes it that way. Needless to say, we are disappointed with this school. If it didn't mean another new school, we'd change. HS is hard enough. Our expectations were too high.

As an active duty member, I have had my children enrolled in many schools throughout the US. Steele is by far one of the best ones! Teachers, Extra curricular activities, classes offered, availability of staff, school guide lines, school equipment, bus routes and wear of clothes are all excellent in my opinion. They have students available to assist new students transitioning from other schools during the school year (S2S program) Teachers actually communicate with the parents if needed, and they have provided after school help for catching up. Football IS a big deal, and a lot of attention is given to it, however, I dont feel it has taken away from my childrens education here, if anything, it has provided my kids a huge sense of pride in their school. They are slightly over crowded right now, but I believe the huge amount of homes that are being built in the area have a lot to do with it, and I believe they will be re-zoning soon.

This is the best school in the area! As a military member for 19+ years, I actually have commuted from Lackland for the last 3 years just so my kids could stay in this district (after Barbara Jordan which was also great). Sports program is very competitive which is why some parents have rated lower that deserved. Football team has been to two state Div 5A Championship Games (Won 1) in the last two years and is ranked in the top 10 again this year. Girls programs are very good also which is why I want my kids here (competing against the best everyday in practice only makes you better). Almost every teacher I've met has been great and active both in the classroom and online when necessary by posting classwork to make learning a 24/7 envrironment. Go Knights!
