All of my high school years were spent at the Methodist Children's Home attending University Of Texas Charter School. The reviews I just read about how awful this place is and how there is no teaching/learning done here are preposterous! These negative remarks couldn't be further from the truth. In fact I feel as though I've been reading the bitter, senseless journal entries of disgruntled students. You ought to be ashamed of yourselves.

This isn't a school. It's a holding tank until the kids age out of foster care. Don't let the "university" in the title fool you. Students are given no responsibility, no consequences, and no education. Drugs, sex, theft, dishonesty--those are the lessons your child will learn at this school. This "school" is simply an avenue for Methodist Children's Home to acquire funds from the government to increase their capacity to prepare even more children for futures in the streets and in the jails.

The only support they show students with learning differences is their complete elimination of expectations. Remove the expectations, and any child can pass. This school is not designed in any way to educate.

The student behavior is so bad and the administration of the home and school make it absolutely impossible for the teacher to create an environment that is conducive to learning. The standards are set so low, all a student must do to pass, is simply show up at school.

I only knew people that went there and they absolutely hated it. They did terrible on much of the school work at A.J. Moore because of the stresses of living there and poor role models. Their learning was nearly nil and they ended up just lashing out at the world once most of them finally got old enough to get out of there. I don't blame them once bit since they all feel unwanted and disliked. Expect your kid to fail at life if you send them here.
