My son was in PPCD and ALE, the special needs teachers were awesome, he had so much progress and they did everything in their power to accommodate him.

Special needs teachers and staff are great! They never give up on the kids, they provide the services needed and make sure the kids are learning, my son loved them, and he learned so much his progress was just incredible!

Students are given a reasonable amount of homework that gives them the opportunity to practice each day’s lesson in a brief amount of time.

The teachers at Mead are some of the hardest working teachers I know. They dedicate their lives for 9 months a year, sometimes more entirely to their students at great personal sacrifice to their health and personal lives. They have very little support and are often required to teach over 20 students without help.

There are programs in place for counselors to teach the pillars of character. There is not time or resources provided for desperately needed groups for social skills, meditation, yoga, or any other type of forward thinking methods of teaching students compassion for themselves and others. Discipyis a huge problem at Mead.

The principal does the best she can with the resources she has. Unfortunately, there’s not enough funding or support for her to hire much needed support personnel. She is also torn between doing what’s right for children and what’s required by the district and the state. The problems stem from the lack of adequate funding from the state of Texas and the ignorance and selfishness of our congressmen.

There is not enough personnel to accommodate the multitude of students with learning difficulties. Many get overlooked because so many students are transient and do not attend Northside schools for long enough to get diagnosed. Classes are set aside for each grade to have one collaborative class per grade with additional support all day long but the other classes are inundated with students with special needs who didn’t get into the collaborative classroom because it is full. This leaves regular ed classes unbalanced, with way too many special needs students and not enough support. This in turn lowers the bar for performance among the students because the smarter students often get overlooked and underperform simply because they don’t get challenged. They know they can skate by doing the minimal amount of work and still get good grades. It is not the students’ fault, the teachers’ fault, the administrations’ fault, or the districts’ fault. It is the fault of our government for not making education a priority.

I would rate my 9 years of experience as a teacher at Mead as exhausting and unhealthy, resulting in many health problems exacerbated by years of intense pressure to perform miracles and do more work than most people cannot possibly imagine each day. I would rate it as poor for students because they do not get enough attention to reach their potential no matter how hard the teachers try. I would not send my child to Mead. Despite all the great teachers and good leadership, Mead is just not enough.

This is the best school my son has ever been to. The administration is super friendly and knows my son and I by sight, always greets me by name. There is one rude person in front office but she is the exception not the norm. The teachers are great and have brought my son from remedial reading to grade level in just a few short months.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL.... My son and had to move around alot this past year. This school made us feel right where we belong. Keep up theh good work Mead Elementary!!

It's a good school as of my opinion.Teachers are good.Very dedicated,most of them.They try to understand students qualities and encourages them.Music and PE dept:are really commendable.

My kids go to mead elementary and i love this school my kids learn alot and they love there teachers.
