My family's experience with this school was disappointing, not because childhood conflicts occurred, but because of how they were handled.

Over the course of the year, we experienced significant challenges with communication, transparency, and consistency in administrative decision-making. Situations that appeared to be normal childhood conflicts were escalated into formal disciplinary matters without what I felt was sufficient emphasis on mediation, coaching, restorative conversations, or conflict-resolution strategies.

One of the most frustrating aspects was the lack of clarity surrounding investigations and disciplinary decisions. Despite repeated attempts to obtain answers and understand how conclusions were reached, many questions remained unanswered until the matter was elevated beyond the campus level through the district grievance process.

I was particularly concerned by the inconsistency in how student incidents appeared to be handled. Some situations involving my child resulted in formal investigations and significant consequences, while repeated physical incidents involving other students raised questions about when investigations are initiated, what thresholds are applied, and what preventative measures are taken to protect students from recurring problems.

To be fair, some later interactions were more constructive. I appreciated seeing restorative conversations, mediation between students, and staff members who focused on reflection, guidance, and helping children learn from mistakes rather than simply imposing consequences. Those experiences demonstrated that more supportive approaches are possible and, in my view, often more effective.

My hope is that the school continues improving transparency, consistency, communication with families, student safety practices, and the use of restorative approaches to conflict. Schools play an important role not only in academics, but also in helping children develop communication skills, emotional regulation, accountability, and healthy peer relationships.

Based on our experience, I cannot recommend the school without reservation.

We have had a wonderful experience at canyon ridge for the past three years and excited to continue until our youngest finishes 5th grade. The teachers are so invested in the students love of learning and gaining confidence in their skills. Our youngest was diagnosed with dyslexia at this school and has been making great strides ever since. His confidence has soared. There is such a wonderful community feel. So many events for you to get to know the other families and school staff. Every one encourages everyone else. It is such a positive learning environment.y oldest struggles with anxiety and his fifth grade teacher knew exactly what he needed when he was having a stressful moment. They all seem to just know how to adapt to each child’s needs. We are a military family and are so happy to have moved here and enjoy the close family feel. The administration is involved and leads the way with this encouraging environment. Hogy recommend Canyon Ridge Elementary!

We have been attending Canyon Ridge for the past 5 years. My daughter was identified as dyslexic in her second grade year. The school was fast to identify and put the measures needed to assist her in reaching her full potential. Her test scores improved as well as her confidence. From Admin to the Teachers to the staff, everyone strives to make Canyon Ridge the best school for learning and inclusion.

Canyon Ridge is such an incredible place to learn! The students are not just another face, but individuals with specific learning needs. The teachers are OUTSTANDING and truly know how to teach using various techniques to reach all learners. The entire lower elementary faculty is specially trained in the Science of Reading, and the curricula are STEAM driven.

When it comes to this school's community, it's welcoming, whether it's a member of the PTA, administration, or teacher. The administration, teachers, and staff are hard working individuals who care students needs. The student to teacher ratio is good. When there is a child who is struggling the school does a stellar job at finding a solution that works for the child and the child's classroom environment.

I would highly recommend this school to anyone who has a child that is about to enter school or transferring from another school. It's rewarding to see the hard work and dedication that these educators have for the children and families within the community.

My children are always excited to go to school and learn. The school community is so welcoming from the administration and teachers to the PTA. I would highly recommend sending your child to Canyon Ridge Elementary. The student to teacher ratio is great and throughout the years each teacher that my children have had care about my child's success.

Administration is clueless. Bullying is rampant. Class sizes are enormous and overwhelming for the teachers. If you want your child just to be a number, and not a student - this is the perfect school for you. Avoid this school at all costs.

After a rough start in Kindergarten, my ADHD son finally found his perfect match. The staff cares about the children and getting them the resources they need to flourish.

This is the third year my son is attending this school. For such a large school, it's amazing how much individual attention each student gets. My son is receiving a top rate education.

Canyon Ridge is not only one of the largest most beautiful elementary schools in the city.......it also has the best teachers! My daughter and I both could not imagine her attending any other school. Their educational program allows for all kinds of different levels in any given classroom. They are super hyper focused on developing Leaders through the Leader in Me Program.

I have 2 children that have been going to canyon ridge...my wife is a former teacher and now a stay at home mom...this school is one of the best elementary schools that you could get your kids into..I was kind of hesitant about public schools here....I don't believe you could find a private school here that has such passion, ethics and love for the children in this country.
