We have been a part of this school community for 5 years and have always remained positive and hopeful throughout our experience. As with any school, there will be hiccups between classmates and peers, but at no point have we ever felt that the administration sidelined us or ignored our concerns.
We have multiple children that currently attend this school and they have all developed lifelong friendships alongside unforgettable teacher/student relationships. Each teacher that we have had has always had the best interest of our kids at the forefront of their minds and has significantly influenced our children to love school.
The Spanish curriculum at the school has waffled the past couple of years, but we didn't send our children to this school with the sole purpose of learning Spanish - we sent them to receive a quality education with a solid faith-based foundation. There are other families who are much more interested in the Spanish curriculum and immersion and I encourage you to weigh what matters most to you before you register and or take a tour. While the school is gaining momentum in strengthening the Spanish program, they are still learning and growing.
One thing that should be mentioned is that the PTC and other parent volunteers are truly collaborative. Do not hesitate to jump right in with the community and volunteer alongside a parent who's been there for years - they'll welcome you right in! That is yet another positive aspect that sets this school apart - the community. There is a tribe for everyone here and a supportive shoulder to lean on, should you ever need it. The school has several "adult clubs" that support the mission/vision of the school: Dads Club, PTC, Saints of Mercy, Room Parents, Hospitality Committee, etc. Dads club is a group of dads/father figures that volunteer to help with the grounds, bring coffee/donuts to parents and teachers, cook/bbq during school events - it's really special! The Saints of Mercy group is a special group of people who help families/individuals who need prayer and support during challenging times - all free of charge!
If you're curious about this school community, please reach out for a tour. You won't regret it!

Some teachers treat the students differently. For most kids they enforce the rules but for certain children they don't.
Posted: May 30, 2019
While the school talks about integrity, compassion, and respect, they do not consistently practice these traits.
Posted: May 30, 2019
The leadership at the school is very poor on communication and doesn't consistently follow their own guidelines.
Posted: May 30, 2019
Not applicable to our child as not challenged with the school work.
Posted: May 30, 2019
No, they do not. Some students are allowed to continue inappropriate behavior with no consequences. Our child has experienced having items stolen, knocked into, hit with items, picked on, teased, etc. When our child reports it, either the teachers and staff say to stop talking and do the school work or they simply tell the other students to stop it. However, the behavior will continue the next day and no action is taken.

Leadership does not communicate well, inconsistent practices in handling issues, academic level is average, parent community is really good.
Posted: May 30, 2019
We switched our child from another school to St Anthony looking for community and better academics. While the parent community is good, the academics have been below the other school. And there is not much homework.

Students are not overwhelmed with homework, but given enough to be challenged. Unfortunately it isn't consistent across all grade levels currently, but we expect that will change with all of the positive direction from Mrs. Ramirez, Mrs. Rodriguez and school deans.

In recent years, long tenured teachers with Master's Degrees have been complemented by new teachers with similar or higher credentials. All new teachers hired since 2016 required certification as well.

There is a strong spiritual influence through its Catholic identity. Even non-Catholics and non-Christians that attend the school recognize the core values and discipline, a culture enforced by both faculty and students alike.

The current principal has been part.of the St. Anthony community for over 15 years. She has served as interim Principal twice before being hired as the permanent Principal. She is taking active steps to elevate the curriculum and align it top to bottom so that it's students continue to exceed expectations at the high school level and beyond.

As resources are limited, so are the solutions St. Anthony is able to extend to its families. That said, the School works well with students with learning differences through its resource staff.

Bullying at St. Anthony is zero tolerance. The new Vice Principal (also with the School over 15 years, but recently appointed to this position) sets expectations early with parents and students, which creates a culture of respect and obedience for teachers, parents, and one another.

Our experience at St. Anthony has been mostly positive! We have been there for 12 years - one has graduated and we have to current students. Like most schools, we have had our share of challenges; but over the long haul, St. Anthony has prepared our children for standardized testing, for academic competitions (which St. Anthony consistently places in the Top 3 in Middle School and Elementary School competitions), and for high school. Our Sophomore started at St. Anthony in its KRP Pre-K program (which is outstanding BTW). He is in all Pre-AP classes and maintains a 4.05 GPA. He was not in the Top 10% of his St. Anthony graduating class, but he continues to excel in high school in a school that is traditionally academically competitive. Ultimately this real world testimonial is what keeps us at St. Anthony.

Social club for central catholic old boys and UIw sorority sisters. No room for outsiders. Subpar academic record. Low on instillation of Christian values.

My wife and I have four children and live in the neighborhood. We wanted a school that helped do more than just educate our kids. We wanted a nurturing environment which would help build the character of our children and promote a well rounded experience. We couldn't have asked for a better place than St Anthony. Our kids are surrounded by other great kids, all in a small classroom setting, where their awesome teachers balance scholastics, religious teaching, and instilling general goodness. Having reviewed test scores, I'll tell you that the scholastics are excellent. For the last few years, for example, our school has sweats 1st-2nd-3rd place in local private school math competitions. Also, having a close-knot community of parents is just awesome. We've made life-long friends and we all constantly pitch in and help each other. We love St Anthony.

Great experience for my son; however, the principals have left much to be desired by way of leadership and supporting their staff. Turnover is unfortunately high if the teacher does not bow to the principal, which negatively impacted the school in my son's time there.

The last year review sound like a piece out of the schools marketing department. But, please visit the school on your own, watch the chaos in the morning drop off cafeteria, pay attention to the lack of attention by staff during PE and recess, be careful with dismissal safety issues all 3 points illustrate a lack of supervion, consistent discpline and lack of credibility to the student-parent handbook. Ask the school board how long they have served and why new parents are not recuited for volunteer positions, copare tutition rates with other schools and see whom is the MOST expensive...find out the logistical nightmare for athletics, the amount of classroom time missed for special events, the lack of support for special needs kids and well you have your new school. Good luck.

I've been happy with this school in the past with my eldest. Now I have my middle child looking forward to starting her high school years next year and will be attending.

Okay well I'm a student & I'm graduating this year, 2014. I absolutely love this school. Words can't explain my love for it. Teachers & students have become my family over the years I've been here, which is 11. If you looking for a school that you will never forget, becomes your family, understands you, try our school first. You won't regret it now forget it. I sure didnt.

Our child has been in the school for 8 years and cannot say enough about what a great school it is. It has had its challenges, but the current leadership is amazing. We could not be happier with the education and the amazing community of parents.

Our first year was great! We had multiple children here, for the most part the teachers are great, however, the administration in unresponsive and secretive. I no longer trust the administration to tell me the truth. Heaven forbid, something were to happen to a child there, I think they would cover it up to limit their perceived liability, not realizing parents understand things happen. Many small issues become big ones when administration members are not honest and fail to take things head on. Although Catholic, it's not ran by a Priest. The Priest the school borrows from the HSis great, however, he is not a member of administration/someone to go to if you had any problems with the school. Nor, is he responsible for any day to day activities or real interaction with the students. The school affiliated with a Parish, it is a stand alone school. We were very happy with the school the first year under the interim principal, however, the new principal. It has gone through too many principals, don't stick around to find out why. We were warned but didn't listen, we regret it. It also lacks proper sports facilities Positives, it is a diverse school and most teachers do care.

I have two children who are in their second year at St. Anthony's. St. Anthony's has been amazing for my children both academically and socially and emotionally. St. Anthony's has a rigorous curriculum that is not based on worksheets but instead contains creative, engaged, and experiential activities. My children have a balanced workload that challenges them without becoming rote. The children and community are kind. I have never heard of any bullying or unkindness and all the children are welcoming and inclusive. The school also has a solid involved parent base that avoids being overly involved or in helicopter mode. The recent board decisions to expand the school by adding a new facility, and implement a health, freshly prepared, locally sustainable lunch program, show vision for a truly innovative school. My children continue to thrive here and I am blessed beyond measure to have a school that nurtures them intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally.

I have 3 children attending St. Anthony Catholic School. My oldest has been there since k4 and is graduating this year. In addition to the strong academics, which recently were confirmed through a very high high school placement test score, SACS is a close community with parental involvement and extremely dedicated faculty and staff. Each of my 3 children have unique needs, but they are all succeeding with the support of the faculty at SACS. I highly recommend SACS if you are looking for a balanced, loving environment with high academic standards and Christian values.

Very happy with quality of curriculum. My two children are appropriately challenged and are scoring in the 80th and 90th percentile on national tests of achievement. Community of parents and teachers way above average. Environment is warm and conducive to learning. Principals at accepting high schools continue to rank students highly in terms of preparation to do high school work. This school has been around for over 100 years and there is a strong contingency of graduates in the community. Children seem very happy at this school.

This is for the person that posted on September 13, 2011: Could you please say which school you chose for your children after leaving st anthony? I'm looking for a good catholic school . thank you

We have been a member of the St. Anthony family for several years. We are very pleased with the progress our child has made at the school, mainly due to the fact of the dedicated teachers and staff. The school is very focused on fostering the children s education and Christianity. The preparation the children receive for the next level and life in general is truly a remarkable experience. If you haven t had an opportunity to visit St Anthony s, I d strongly recommended it and believe that most families would be encouraged about the future which St Anthony s has to offer.

Update, I wrote the May review BEFORE learning that the board terminated principal I along with many other parents were caught completely off guard with the termination & were only emailed asking us to extend farewells as the board wrote the principal resigned(she had already been terminated and email cut off) Heard from principal in a private email that was circulated that while she was away board held a private meeting ( which they deny) & when she returned she was FORCED to resign many parents attended the PTC board meeting to only hear of new programs & programs that would continue to be in place but NO MENTION of WHY they let her leave One board member continually evaded the question when it was posed, & in not so many words said that she was not "people friendly"(Staff did not like that she was noticing that they were not challenging students, the bar was not being held high, & middle school parents did not want change) Sadly we spent quite a bit of money, never wanted to have our child begin a new school, but after touring many other Catholic Schools realize it was a God Send as the curriculum at new school is so far Superior & higher expectations than St. Anthony's

Buyer beware, lack of leadership is evident and is affecting learning and teaching. Board not focused on education of students, but rather on capital campaign. Latest principal was not qualified and clearly not a fit- lasted less than a year. This once thriving school will continue to decline under current board who continues to make poor decisions.

I love St. Anthony's. Although there HAS been recent turnover in staff, it is all part of growth & a better vision for academics for our children. I have always felt the warmth and sincerity of the staff and principal. The children are engaged in learning and continue the desire to learn outside the classroom. It has a small village feel and definitely is God Centered. As with all things new, no one likes change, however the direction the school is taking with the new programs being offered and the new programs being implemented, it is a great thing for children!

What a difference a year makes! This school is coming apart at the seams; almost all the middle school teachers were fired at the same time leaving the 7th & 6th graders to flounder next year. I would not recommend St. Anthony's because decisions like these make it obvious that the students do not come first. These teachers were well respected and nurturing. Appealing to the Board was useless; your child deserves a better education than can be found here.

Thsi school is not well run. The academics used to be very strong then became very weak over the last 4-5 years. Teacher turnover and discontent impacted the learning environment. Social development is also weak; lots of bullying with little oversight. There are too many kids in very tight spaces.
