Harmony Science Academy-San Antonio is an excellent school that provides a strong academic foundation and a safe, supportive environment for students. The teachers and staff are dedicated, approachable, and genuinely care about student success, both in and out of the classroom.

Dont enroll your child here. This school is a joke. They have had multiple incidents with rats but only sent out one notice to the parents. My daughter says the restrooms never work, that they have had to use the boys restrooms multiple times. The front office doesnt know what they are doing the majority of the time. Mrs. Alegría in the front office still has the audacity to tell me your daughter doesnt have to come here, but she is damn right, my daughter doesnt have to go there, and she will not be going next year. The pick-up after school/club is a mess. Harmony Science Academy needs help.

My Son suffered from depression and anxiety after his passing for so much bullying inside school ,my son has a heart condition and he been punched to the chest and head and no one did nothing, every day he gets hurt,I told twice for a principal ,for others who are in charge too no one did nothing about it, I dont know else to do, I think the best too do is go to police and report them for incompetence before anything happens to my son or another kids

They give little to no homework so how do you know if your child has fully comprehended the work provided for them
Posted: May 9, 2019
You will find many of the teachers do not take the time to make sure the children understand the work presented and most of the time the children do not do well on the state test
Posted: May 9, 2019
There are quite a few students that have to see a psychologist about the bullying. The psychologist I spoke to had nothing but bad things to say about this school
Posted: May 9, 2019
They have favorite students that they will back 100% and others they will find any reason to discipline.

My child was bullied the whole school year and all they did was move my child from class to class
Posted: May 9, 2019
I would give them the worst rating possible. I feel like my child wasted a whole year at this school. I wish I would have never brought my child there. As hard as it was for my child it was hard for me as a parent to see not only do the students bully each other but that the school will treat the victim more harsh than the bully.

My experience at HSA-SA has been very positive. If you would place Harmony Science Academy next to other High Schools and Middle Schools in Bexar County in a comparison, you would find facts showing that the students are more respectful, better behaved, receive a far better education, yet still receive the whole memorable High School experience. Moving up in the 2017 school year from the 4th best High School in San Antonio ranking in 2016 , shows that the educational balance offered at HSA-SA keeps improving every year.

Teacher-parent relationship is very poor. It took days for a reply from teachers
Posted: August 8, 2017
This school made my daughter feel insecure about her learning problems.
Posted: August 8, 2017
Communication is very poor among staff. My daughter was singled out for not being at grade level. Tried to work with teachers to help my struggling daughter but no communication.

I'm not going to lie, we loved it at first. My children went there for three years. The teachers were so great for the first two years. Then, last year my son started getting bullied. They pretty much did nothing. My son, according to them, just took things too personally. I had parents and TEACHERS come up to me multiple times and tell me how horrible it was and they couldn't believe nothing was done about the bullying. That was just confirmation to me that I wasnt being a crazy overactive parent. I found out at the end of the year, when I went to unenroll my kids, that he was one of three students bullied by the same group of boys and the administration did nothing for any of them. I loved this school because the teachers are Amazing, but the administration, at least on the elementary side, is horrible. My son is now flourishing in the stone oak school district and is so much happier. His grades are letter grades higher and he has friends.
I would suggest caution when going to Harmony. I am not the only person who had issues with bullying being ignored, (I personally know two other parents who unenrolled their kids for the same reason) and I know they have an official complaint and have to under go additional training for special needs children because of the way their teachers treated a special needs child last year. I hear their high school is great, but beyond that...Seriously be careful.

My child was singled out on a daily basis by the administration. My son now has emotional issues because of the situation this school put him in.
Posted: October 19, 2015
Some of the teachers do not have a clue about being a teacher. I am not even sure they are certified teachers!

My son was singled out on a daily basis and spent more time in the hallway or being detained then in the classroom!

Looking at the schools test scores and the college acceptance rate of almost 100% I am impressed my kids have been attending HSASA since the first grade and I've seen their Math and Science knowledge almost equal to my nephew who is two grades ahead of them. Students have more one on one interaction with teachers as well as parent communications.

This school may have all the necessary opportunities, but when you dedicate yourself to your studies and at the end be denied to participate in your own graduation is just wrong. This is what my sister hoped for after 6 yrs in school and wanting to be part of her class and being proud of that accomplishment.

I am a student, and it's really not that bad... As long as your a person that usually pays attention to the rules. The school is amazing, but the problem is when you get in trouble it gets complicated. And the only thing I need to say about the classes is that once you get used to the classes, it gets easier... Sooner or later...

We took our children to Harmony as our only other option to SWISD schools. We are selling our home now and moving to NISD so our kids can go to a good public school. Harmony has **some** excellent teachers. However, their administration is lacking all ability to do anything correctly. First, you cannot just go to visit anyone in that building. You can request an appointment with someone, like the Principal. However, they are more likely to push your request off to someone else or deny it altogether. There are a lot of issues here, but the one that made us leave is the administration requesting $200 for my 4th grader (who passed the 4th grade but failed the STAR test) to go to summer school. Then they will **maybe** allow him to go to the 5th grade. The STAR test is not mandatory until the 5th grade. They also have zero ability to help my child with real learning issue. The school is lacking.

It has a lot of dedicated teacher that i am proud to work with. Sometime that inspires me a lot so that i want to do more for kids. It is just a blessing to be member of this family.

Awesome school! My children has been attending here for 6yrs and they love it. love the setting of smaller classes! I appreciate the dedication of most of the teacher, you know they don't do it for pay but because they care for the children!

As a teacher and parent. I loved this school and miss being part of the community. My daughter loved going here and was given excellent attention when it came to tutoring and help she needed. The administration changes often, but the teachers are very committed and caring about the students. Tutoring and help offered and a range of activities are provided every year. A growing community.

This school was EXEPTIONAL 3 years ago when the principal and dean would actually take the time to listen to your concerns. There was a sense of community throughout the halls. Now they have a POC that is unapproachable, rude and narrow minded. You get nowhere with her when trying to talk discuss your child/concerns. Some GREAT teachers, some not-so-great teachers. Music teacher doesn't teach music, prefers to let kiddos listen to their own music. Character Ed class deals mostly with bullying. Computer teacher lets students browse internet most class periods. Some of the teachers hardly speak English, yet kids are expected to learn and comprehend these teachers. But they only worry about student progress when it revolves around test scores. If a student is failing their mock state tests, they will jump through hoops to get them tutoring and whatever they need so they pass the actual tests. They are also cramming more students into this small school and having them share resources.

sorry to dissapoint those out there planning to take your child here, but they will never become successful in life when they come here. I came here and was not pleased whatsoever, finding my grades to vastly drop :/

I love this school! I moved my child from the NISD to this school for first grade and I am very happy with the teachers and administration. Even the parents seem friendlier, perhaps because there aren't already neighborhood cliques in place since students come from numerous neighborhoods. The school's website is updated frequently and is helpful with keeping up with what is going on. I am hoping that my second child wins the lottery this year.

Harmony Science Academy is great school. Their staff is always friendly and their teachers are dedicated to the success of their students. I highly recommend this school to anyone wanting the very best for their child.
