I am currently finishing my last year here, I joined this school in 7th grade. From the experience I learned that bullying is something that is not dealt with correctly here, staff completely dismisses it! And does nothing except talk to the bullys and hope they stop. Drugs here is also another serious things there has been many kids in Leo this whole year for vaping in buses, in class, in the locker rooms, and most commonly in the bathroom. Unfortunately this school has not been great in my mental health and when I report something going on such as bullying, the bullies get a slap on the wrist and a lollipop on the way out. Bullying and drugs is a serious thing here. I do admit though this school is so much better than my old one. (Cedar park middle school) but still awful. Dont come here unless you want your mental health to be dismissed completely. I would rather be homeschooled.

Both of my kids have attended Knox Wiley. My oldest is now in high school, and my youngest is finishing his last year here. Overall, its a very average experience.
When my oldest was enrolled, he received special education services. Unfortunately, there wasnt much that felt special about it the feedback from teachers often sounded like a broken record: I have to tell him a lot that he needs to focus. There wasnt a lot of meaningful support beyond that.
As for my youngest, weve seen both positives and negatives.
1. Bullying is a real problem and its something youll need to stay aware of.
2. Teacher quality is hit or miss some truly care, while others seem to be just going through the motions.
3. Band is in a world of its own while the band sounds incredible, the directors seem more focused on building their own resumes. Multiple parents have shared concerns about directors belittling or yelling at students. Holding kids accountable is important, but repeated reports of yelling cross the line.
Lastly, while this school isnt in Austin, drug issues are still present its important not to assume its completely safe.
I wouldnt say Knox Wiley is the worst option out there, but I do recommend staying involved and keeping a close eye on your childs experience.

This is our 2nd year at Wiley and we are very happy with the school. Band director is amazing he is knowledgeable, organized and talented. Football coaches have been great too. The new principal and teachers are doing a magnificent job!
Bus driver cares so much for our kids.

I have been enrolled in this school for 3 years. At the time of writing this, it's the end of my 8th grade year. The discrimination (not racial, but is joked about all the time) is pretty bad, this school is very strict, lunch/breakfast is... fine..., but the teachers are surprisingly very kind and decent at teaching. The laptops given to us SUUUUUCK, though, it's rumored that we are getting new ones next year.

It sucked. The principal was awfully strict, the teachers all sucked, except the nice ones which quit because they somehow got the worst students

The school is decent. Nothing crazy about it. I would say that the electives section is pretty good.

I've been going to wiley all my middle school years. I would just like to say I am a little disappointed.
Wiley middle school isn't all inclusive like stated. Many students deal with bullying, racism, and more from there students AND teachers.
Many of the new teachers that arrived at wiley don't even teach, rather they posted videos and told us to write notes. But if we tried to tell them that we were confused we were just "Not paying attention".
I also understand that they were short staffed because of covid, and the food cant be as good as it used to. But they go to the point they only had spoons in buckets which is quite gross as there was NO SOAP in the bathrooms (girls and boys), not only no soap there was not even any signs to show which was the girl and boy bathrooms.
Hopefully it becomes better in the near future.

Top notch school with a multitude of learning and activity options. We currently have a 6th and 8th grader, and both love their campus and teachers.

Wiley is a very nice school. I was there for 7th grade and the kids are all great. You definatly won't have any problems with bullying. The only problem I had was that the teachers were stuck up, don't let them walk all over you (some will try) Athletics is awesome and band is really fun. Others have said the school is big but its really not, I think they say that because its the only middle school they have seen. It's easy to get around and you won't get lost EVER after the first week, I don't know how you could. I miss Wiley so much! You're son/daughter will love this school for sure!
