I am just elated that my kid is done with this school. Teachers don’t have control over the classes and administration is terrible. There has been bullying with no consequences and teachers with no control on the class most of the time. If you have a choice pick a different one.

As a current student here, I can say that most students aren't interested in learning at all. Teachers are either too invested or not invested enough. A lot of teachers don't care about the students life's other than their grades. A few teachers are amazing and are the reason I haven't left this school but many of them don't care enough about the students. The school does nothing about statements, abuse or emotional problems. It takes weeks to get called in and when you tell them about your problems they rarely ever do anything. The kids in the special education program at our school are not payed any more attention to than normal kids. They are heavily bullied and left out and they aren't given the same chances and students who are able. I honestly wish I could've rated safety a 0. I never thought that every period I would be thinking if the route to my next class was safe or not. Kids get bullied physically and mentally in front of the teachers and most teachers don't even realize. There are at least 2 fights per day and I don't think there is one person at this school who doesn't have someone that wants to physically or mentally hurt them. This school is a dangerous place to most kids and it's a shame. The last thing I'm going to mention is the unfair dress code. Teachers tend to less harshly dress code students they like or students that have less curves. The more curves you have and the more 'attractive' you are the more likely you are to get dress coded. My words might seem unnecessary but these are my honest words. If I get in trouble for saying my honest opinions at school then so be it.

Jefferson is a great school the coaches are great. The teachers actually care about you.

Every we do so many thing like fall festival, Reindeer games, and your school dances. All the teachers are just a amazing, well most of the. One of the 7th grade and most of the 6th grade teachers are very mean so times. I am not going to say any names. Also for or you should really do dance because we do so much and it really fun.
The only bad thing at the school is the dress code. I know every school is the same, but none do anything about it except for here. Also like every school the food is the best, but good half the time.

The staff is highly unethical and refused to assist my medically at risk child despite the doctor's recommendation.

Here at Jefferson I will walk down the halls seeing kids get bullied and the teachers dont even notice even though it's right in front of them. Not just that some of the teachers at this encourage it by bullying the kids by embarrassing in front of class or assuming they did something wrong even though they didnt.

0 because I am always pressured to do work that I cant always get done and I get a bad grade for that. The teachers give WAY to much homework and they dont listen to what the kids need. They dont help with bulling and the teachers can also be a bully. The new principle change a lot of thing that should have stayed the same. I dont like this school I feel unsafe and stressed.

They over do on homework I started my homework at 5pm and finished at 11pm I was half asleep when I realized I still had to study for Spanish. They give kids to much homework some teachers give packets of homework like they think we dont get homework from other teachers

My son attended 6th grade at this school before we moved away from San Antonio. Although we LOVED his elementary school (Kuentz), we only give this school an average rating. He was in all Pre-AP classes and they seemed fine. Until we moved, I didn't know how different another middle school could be. I don't think I received one single email from anyone at Jefferson the entire year except for a few emails from his choir teacher. (He had a fabulous choir teacher who has since retired.) The teachers in our new district send out at least weekly emails and don't hesitate to email parents for any reason. So, although I didn't realize it at the time, there was a definite lack of communication with parents on the whole. My son experienced a fair amount of bullying at Jefferson. The vice principal called me several times during the year with "boys will be boys" types of explanations that didn't always sit well with me. Much of the bullying occurred in PE class when they have way too many students with too little supervision.

When my child started Jefferson. He was picked on daily. I went and talked with the VP, and for the most part, it was fixed for a moment.The bulling lasted from 6-8 grade. My child's last year there, my child, got seriously depressed, that she no longer wanted to go to school. We went up there and talked with the counselors. They made my child feel worse then before. We then talked with the principal, and boy! he cannot be reason with. He feels like he runs a perfect school. That his school has no bullies, only kids that are not being nice. The principal and the counselor both made us feel like our child was the villain, and not the victim. Overall, we thought that the teachers were pretty good.

The staff in the younger grades tends to be quite good. However, as the kids grow older, the staff is less interested and connected. And the administrative staff is does not even rate a star. The principal is never available. Multiple calls and messages will eventually be returned by the Assistant Principal. The secretaries are unfriendly and rude, both in person & on the phone. Student's freedom is nonexistant. They are told where to sit before school, at lunch and after school. There is no free time whatsoever to have even the shortest conversation about what your weekend was like. Students are do not rush to lunch are even given an In School Suspension at lunch time, wherein they sit alone at a side table. Don't even think about trying to stop at the bathroom on your way in!! Other absurd requirements include removing, or covering with band-aides, girl's earrings during PE. Gasp!! How did anyone else survive all the decades with such danger lurking right there on your head?!?! Plus, the dress code indicates no shorts, skorts or tank tops... despite the region being a desert. I believe the catholic school has LESS restrictions than this campus.

First of, i'm a student a Jefferson Middle School.. and before all you parents come out and start dissing my school let me just say. Jefferson has the highest TAKS/STAAR scores compared to other public schools. The reason our faculity is busy is cause we have a very large JMS family, Jefferson was only built for a couple hundred kids, and now we have about 1,500+ kids roaming the halls. Yes, our website isn't always updated but that is the least of their worries we have so many kids that the Academic Dean, Principal, Vice Princapal etc. are out on their feet every 15 minutes in the hallways making sure everyone is where they're supposed to be. However, Jefferson DOES have parent connection that sends you e-mails every time your childs grade drops below a 70, or is absent/tardy. The vice principal and princapal may come across rude to you cause some of you parents come here with dumb questions/problems that isn't their responsibility. Jefferson is a great school and is a Exemplary school. Jefferson is also one of the newest schools and like i said was only built for a few hundred kids but now has 1,500+ kids , yet we're still Exmplary.. You tell me if Jefferson is a bad school.
