Tarver Elementary School

I pulled my daughter out of this UNSAFE school. No protections or cameras to watch children. Besides the fact that children are not protected she learned nothing. She can't do long division, doesn't know how to convert kilometers, can't solve for fractions. What are you even doing, math teachers? I have to reteach her the entire year. I was even told she was mastering math at an advanced level, what a joke! That same teacher was terminated. I am so disappointed and frustrated with my experience here at Tarver.

Also, they somehow turned off Google reviews, probably because they don't want anyone to review the truth. Do your research before putting your child here, I would never go to any school in BISD again.

Tarver has some of the most amazing staff members our family has ever encountered! Our son has been at this school since kindergarten and our experience has been great! We have loved being apart of the Tarver family!

Horrible. We had 1 teacher who put any effort with our child. As the year passed even she began to fade with concerns. Staff has a horrible attitude towards parents who work or ask questions. Do not question them or treatment toward your child is horrible. Son came home daily upset or yelled at by office for things completely out of his control. My son has always loved school and excelled, however, his grades were barely passing and his attitude changed. Addressed this issue many times but no one helped and staff snubbed their noses and refused to address issue. Spoke with many parents who also had the similar if not the same issues.
The year could not have gone by fast enough. Moved out this school zone and hope to never see any of these people again .

Students aren't able to build character when the role models are staff who bully and intimate kids.

Administrative staff needs major improvement. The principal shows no ability to lead. She only favors the popular groups and lacks discipline and the ability to focus on the needs of her students and teachers. The office staff is unable to communicate anything and refuses to discuss anything with parents face to face. Which is a direct issue with how the principal behaves. Students are yelled at by administration staff repeatedly for problems that should be discussed with parents. The only concern staff has is if they make numbers for state funding, not if students retain information. If you question staff on anything your child will have a horrible year. Beware, not worth your child being bullied by staff...

My children have had great experiences at this school. They have many positive rewards for behavior, Accelerated Reading, and attendance. My children love this school because they feel loved!

My child will no longer attend Tarver Elementary , we will enroll him in another Belton school . Tarver staff fails to empathize with parents and students current situations. Staff crosses boundaries , not giving parents respect and privacy . Staff is rude and fail to communicate properly when trying to establish information required by parents .

Bottom line is that Tarver Elementary has lost my respect since they have gotten a new principal . Tarver elementary fails to empathize with parents . Tarver elementary will treat your child different if they fail to make a connection with the parent. Tarver elementary will count your child half a day late only to really be late 2 min not considering weather or other factors . Your child will hardly ever go outside to play . The lunch custodian is rude and disrepectful towards the children not allowing them to socialize but only eat in a very fast manner as if they were running a prison cafeteria. You will be questioned if your child is sick , you will only be able to furnish a doctors note , a parental note is not effective enough for them ..only leading you to ring up a number of copay payments even if your child is only running a temp ..you have to take your child to the school so they can make the determination if your child is sick enough to stay home . You as a parent have no say or rights to determine what is best for your child at Tarver Elementary . Principal Knox was the best principal for Tarver Elementary and since her retirement from Tarver , Tarver Elementary will never be the same .

My son had been attending Tarver Elementary since Kindergarten, my husband and I were residing with a family member upon moving to belton tx . My son was enrolled in Tarver with a notarized letter from the family member we were living with since we only had few weeks living in Belton tx and had not established yet a place of our own . During the time my husband and I had chosen to separate, while my husband continued to live in belton with his relative I chose to move to Temple . We would coparent and make the transition as minimal as possible for the sake of our son , so that he would not feel any discomfort in our choices . We chose to keep our son at Tarver since his father would have him stay with him in belton on his weeks off from work , being that he was working and at times gone for weeks at a time we figured it would be best our son continue to attend Tarver so that his life was as consistent as possible dispite our sepration in the household.
I had chose to change the mailing address to my Temple residence being that I was more responsive to any notifications coming directly from the school , but chose to keep my sons primary residence with his father in belton since he did live with his father and I combined . Tarver principal and staff were very rude and inconsiderate towards my personal life , they chose to act very suspicious and made me feel very uncomfortable and ashamed of my current situation. They insisted I retain a notarized letter , his father not being able to furnish due to his employment for the next 30 days at least. Within the next two weeks of school starting I am left with having to relocate my son to Temple school district. Due to their lack of empathy and understanding my son will have to suffer the consequences of having to relocate to a new school and leave his friends behind.

1 grade comes home with more home work than 4 grade. I do not think that first grade should have that much home work

I had 2 children at Tarver this last year. My husband and I were very disappointed I. The school. The principal is rude and hard to talk to. When you come to her with a question or concern she acts as though it's not a big deal to her and she has more inportant things to do. Tarver has no parent involvement and the principal does nothing to help get them involved, In my opinion she hinders it cause no one wants to deal with her.
My younger child who is a active child was now allowed recess for the last 2 months of school because it was raining or to hit or old so they sat inside and watched several movies. Then my child would get sent home with a note saying that they were on "red". Which means they were bad. Well when a active child does not get time to expend some of their energy they will do it in class. I pulled my kids from Tarver and are having them sent to another school in the district.

My children have attended BISD for 10 years. Most of their teachers have been wonderful but there are a few that really should not be teaching. It has been our experience that when you voice a concern, it is never confidential and the child is treated differently for speaking up. BISD relies on a punishment/reward system that is often inconsistent. Once a child believes they are bad and unworthy.... they stop trying and BISD allows that to happen way to often. I have a child that struggles and he needs support and encouragement but I often feel unwelcome and pushed away when I attempt to advocate in his best interest. I work with him at home so he is always prepared for tests and he makes excellent grades. He struggles with the little things like sitting still but the teachers are very quick to take away his recess..... which is counterproductive for a child with so much energy. Currently, it is very difficult for parents to advocate for their kids at BISD. There is a greivance process and I highly reccomend submitting your complaints formally and in writing using that process. The principals are highly political and always say what you want to hear but do nothing.

I presently have my child enrolled in kindergarten here. I have been very impressed with our experience here. I regularly communicate with her teacher via email as well as at parent night's and that allows us to work as a team in our child's education. They have an accelerated reader program here as well as a reading log program which has assisted our child greatly in her skills. We have found a steady improvement in her grades (or ratings for this grade level) through the year. As far as the principal, you can see her everywhere. Each morning she is out in front of the school helping get the kids inside safely. You can see her, rain or shine, opening car doors with a group of student assistants and greeting both student and parents. She has also been available on parent nights to visit with. We also receive regular school updates on what major fundraisers are going on in the classroom or as a school. Tarver also celebrates the success of their students in many ways. It's been a very positive experience.
