I volunteer on a regular basis. Therefore, I see the good, bad and the ugly. The good: I appreciate the field experiences the students at Jones PK/K receives. The teachers are enthusiastic about teaching and go beyond the call of duty. The bad: Unfortunately, many students are not taught the values of respect. I witnessed teachers redirecting students on a consistence bases. Redirecting non-compliance students takes away instructional time from my child. The ugly: Students often sit in the nurses office for hours waiting on their parents to bring a chance of clothes (just put extra clothes in your child backpack). The bus often bring students back to school because the parent is not at the bus stop. I know life happens. It would not hurt to call the school and notify someone that you are aware and have made arrangements to pick-up your child from school. So often we (parents) make excuses instead of making a change to help our child(ren) be successful in school. Many thank-yous to the teachers at A. W. Jones EC/Pk/K for helping my child be the best she can be.

This school is awful. The administration is rude and unhelpful. My son has a disability and instead of helping him they grab my son. Last week my son came home bruises all over him. Don't send your babies here. They won't be safe. Staff constantly looses your kids. You go to pick your child up and they have no idea where he is. If I could give it no stars I would.

The teachers are amazing and willing to go beyond to help the students. I can see how the para-prof. position staff can care like any other job, but some don't have the heart like the teachers. It is a kids environment so all the staff should have smiles on there faces with visitors are in the school, but some have rude faces. Sorry just being honest! The principal needs to be replaced. She does not care so much about the kids events, and turns down anything the PTO wants to do for the kids to enjoy while in school. We need a principal that cares and is welcoming of parents help and ideas. Aldine is not the best school district, but it starts at home and getting parents involved . The principal wants parents to help but does not want them too much involved. I love my daughters teacher but my kids will be attending another school district the following year.

The staff enjoy their jobs and it shows! They really work to ensure the students come first. They're welcoming to parent volunteers and are so appreciative of community involvement. The administration is beyond excellent and I'm very pleased.

This school has not updated their website in some time. That would reflect how many teachers left. Rotating a child with bad behavior through several classes in a day is not a solution and splitting classes instead of hiring substitutes is unacceptable. More parents should speak up and stop these things from happening.

The leadership at this school is outstanding! The scores are excellent and children are learning. I am planning to send my grandson to this school. He has excellent behavior at home and knows how to act at school. I will be an active grandparent in the school to help where there is a need. When parents, teachers, and leadership work together it creates a positive environment. I see that when I walk into Jones Elementary. I believe this school is a great choice for my grandson. I hope they hire more seasoned teachers by the time he begins school.
