I have an older child who has graduated from CMS and has thrived due to his time there. He has excelled academically and emotionally. I can’t say enough about our experience at this school. It is rare to find kids who love to learn and go to school. The middle school program was an exceptional and unique experience. I truly feel kids are lucky to be part of such a warm and supportive environment. It is a pleasure to see a bunch of teenagers who are so bonded together. My younger child is a current student and again it has been a positive experience. The guides have been exceptional. There has been a change in the director of the school but that has not affected the education and experience our child has had. In fact the change has been a positive one in our experience and we are excited for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year.

We love this school so much! Both of our kids have flourished under the care of incredible Montessori guides. Their language abilities, problem-solving skills, and social-emotional skills are incredible. Best of all, they are learning independence and to self-govern themselves, which is hard to get anywhere besides a true AMI-certified Montessori school. Highly recommend.

We have had an incredible experience over the past 3 years with our 2 children at CMS. The guides offer a great learning space for the kids and the staff is available to support or questions. I would recommend anyone to CMS.

We've sent 2 kids here and can't say enough good things. Great facilities. Great staff. The Montessori teaching method really makes sense and I feel our kids are ahead of her peers because of it.

Amazing school. My son is doing fantastic in his class and really enjoys going to school everyday.
CMS values culture, diversity and respect for the community. The expectations and communications are clear, gentle and unique to each families needs.

My two kids have been at Community for 2 years now and are starting their third year (lower elementary and children's house). The school and staff have been wonderful; it's a true Montessori school. I love that it's a toddler through 8th grade school, providing continuity for our family. The school has a great campus with lots of nature integrated into the school day, including backyards for each room, large playgrounds, and outdoor space for nature walks. As for learning, my kids have learned, developed, and grown into great kids. The school culture is aligned with our home/family culture, which is very important to me in providing continuity for our family.

We have been with this school for 8 yrs and they continue to impress. The guides are amazing and are always doing whats best for the children. My kids are who they are because of the staff!! Lastly I just have to say..."Have you seen the campus and the classroom size?" Its HUGE...bigger than any public/private school in the area.

Highly highly recommend them!

The guides at this school are amazing and so invested in the children. Our child is currently in the Casita, but also went through the Nido (infant) class. We have LOVED our experience with the school and the Montessori method followed here. It is an excellent environment for children. They have 18 acres, classrooms gardens that grow fresh food, and chickens. It is an amazing campus and a superior education!

My boys have been attending community Montessori school since 18-months & they are about to turn 5. It's a great school and consistent in it's philosophies. They are AMI certified and a true montessori & have been around since 1981. They have done a great job fostering independence and teaching in a way that is self-driven for the children. It's an amazing school and almost all families that start there, stay there until upper elementary because they love it so much.

CMS is an excellent, happy environment. We have 7 years experience here between 2 kids. I couldn't be more pleased. Our kids have been extremely happy and content here. And have learned so much! Our older daughter is now in middle school and is in all honors classes and continually exceeds expectations. I would highly recommend this school -- and I am super particular with where I sent my kids etc -- some may even say overprotective. :) God bless this school and the staff! Looooove CMS.

I agree in not understanding the negative reviews. The school has been a fantastic experience for my 5 year old daughter. She enjoys the class, the guides, and most importantly has developed and shown an enormous love to learn. That's what Montessori is all about and I feel that CMS does a great job instilling that love to learn in kids. I can only speak for the 3-6 year old range class, where my daughter has been for over two years now. I strongly feel CMS offers the best in a child's development and education at this age. I'm excited to see her develop over the years at CMS as I have also been impressed with their lower and upper elementary for older kids. I know she can't wait to be in those classes too. Do yourself a favor, check out Community Montessori School, take a tour of the school, observe the kids at work and play and then form your own opinion. I think it will be well worth your time and your child's development!

I am honored to have my daughter at such a beautiful school where the love of learning is encouraged in an inspired way on a daily basis. Actual knowledge can be given through multiple modalities, books, computers, lectures, etc, but love of learning is a very hard thing to pass along, and this is priceless. The guides at the school are selfless in their love of the children and their teaching of life skills and academic ones at a high level. It reminds me of the saying, 'give a man a fish and they will eat for a day, teach him to fish and he will eat for a lifetime'. CMS specializes in teaching children how to learn to learn in an independent manner, so through their guided lessons, they are shifting the impetus of learning from themselves to the children. Essentially, passing along all the tools for the students to be able to do everything for themselves, and creating lifelong inspired learners through an andragogical model where adults collaborate with children instead of ordering them around. This prepares children for the adult world so that they can be the creative leaders of tomorrow, quite literally teaching them to 'learn for a lifetime'.

Our children at the school over six years. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The children can take their learning and interests as far and deep academically as they wish. There are no limits on their learning; no ditto sheets; no sitting at desks; no "our class is not working on that, so you cannot" comments attitude. The school has expanded its Spanish program, with many bilingual staff, and my six-year old speaks it as often as possible. My child learned about fractions in first grade using measuring cups and sand and water, outside with a friend (in plain view of the class and guides). The educational materials are intuitive, and children learn very complex concepts at young ages because of it. Starting in 3rd grade, the kids take the grade-level appropriate SAT each year. Many children qualify for the Duke Talented and Gifted program. The school also added a spelling program to shore up the weaknesses in typical Montessori training. The kids do have weekly math and spelling tests, but they are learning proper grammer, punctuations, parts of sentences, etc. not just spelling. A great place for a kid to be a kid, and still achieve academic excellence.
