If your child speaks English only, this is NOT the school for you. Spanish speaking kids get full advantage and learning preferences. Any child who throws chairs or exposes themselves in public gets disciplined by being put in the English only classes.

There are 0 spelling tests, and the teacher turnover in the English speaking classes is insane.

Some teachers do care alot and are great, but the administration limits English only speaking kids so much that it doesn't matter

This is our first experience with CCISD, and I am very happy with the change. My daughter truly enjoys attending classes and is always excited about every project, lesson, and extracurricular activity they offer. She is in the GT program and also participates in the dual language program. All of her teachers have been wonderful, caring, and well-prepared professionals. We are very grateful for the positive environment and support she receives.

Everyone is friendly enough, but if you’re not a native Spanish speaker, you are often overlooked. There’s so much emphasis on the dual language program that they’ve completely forgotten about the mono language classes. It’s very obvious when first and second graders are just coloring vs learning to read, put sounds together etc. they are bored or not advancing. My son was repeatedly teased by kids in his class and he was constantly in trouble for eventually responding to them.
Another note - The boy girl ratio is out of control. 13 -14 boys vs 2-3 girls. I’d be very upset if I was a girl mother!
The students are also told that they cannot ask questions during a lesson. Makes zero sense…if you don’t understand concept#1 how will you understand concept #2, #3….
Hopefully, this is not universal among CCISD, as we have decided to request a transfer to another elementary school.

Our child went to this school's dual language program. We as parents were so excited to have him enrolled in this program, we feel dual language is a very important language skill to have. UNFORTUNATELY, this school's program is not designed to teach English speakers Spanish. The English-speaking kids are only there to support and help the Spanish speakers learn English. If you are not a dual-speaking home your child will not learn Spanish in this program. They bypass English speakers' ability to pick up Spanish so quickly that your child will have no hope of learning Spanish. They teach to the Spanish kids. Our child is a high achiever academically and is also in the Gifted program. FYI

Bullying is a topic that is actively addressed and talked about frequently (not just during a "anti-bullying week"). As a parent I appreciate the fact that my child is aware of the signs of bullying and how that act(s) affects people.

My son came into Kindergarten being a slow reader. The school worked with him one-on-one to make him a much better reader.

The campus staff convey positive messages to students and support it with lessons on the District's Core Values (Trustworthiness. Act with honesty in all that you do. Respect. Value yourself and others. Responsibility. Own your choices. Fairness. Play by the rules and consider the needs of others. Caring. Be kind to others. Citizenship. Work to improve your school, community, and country.

The amazing teachers and support staff are the reason for this school's success. My child needed additional help with reading and I felt like the staff made it clear they would help my child become a great reader...and they did. The campus promotes character development and ensures everyone will receive a quality education. The campus honors student achievements and finds practical ways to implement classroom and life lessons at home so there is a consistent message from school to home. We feel very fortunate to be a part of this great campus!

Each month the students have a spirit rally and honor students who demonstrate the character trait of the month (i.e., honesty, integrity, compassion, etc.). It is a wonderful way to motivate and honor student's non-academic achievements that are important traits in life!

Stewart Elementary is outstanding! The administration and staff are professional, knowledgeable and welcoming. It is evident when you first walk in the building and are greeted by a warm smile and helpful hand. The Principals are in the halls, classrooms and at school events warmly interacting with the students and connecting with them. The teachers are passionate and amazing. They are excited to watch the students grow and are continually challenging them in creative ways. They are always open to discuss any questions or concerns from parents or students and genuinely love their job. After moving from another highly ranked district in the state, we are pleasantly surprised to find an even better school. Stewart Elementary is an exceptional school and we are so happy that our children attend.

This school is awful. I had my kid tested there for the Dual Language Program and the teacher who tested him said he did great. A few weeks later they sent a letter informing us that he had not made it, so we spoke to the director who assure me he was not good enough to be in the program due to his low test results. I explain to her he had been at Primrose and was doing well there. I almost felt discriminated so I had him tested at Brookwood elementary which is by far better school than Stewart and he passed there, which made me so upset. I found out from some moms that this school is packed with kids from many other places and they barely have spots for all of them so my husband told me not to even think about this place. Now he is attending Mossman Elementary and is in the top of his class and I must say with a great teacher.

I have three children in Stewart Lavace Elementary. It is evident that the teachers and office staff all LOVE their jobs by the way they interact with each other and the kids. My children have loved their teachers every year. Staff works with you to resolve anything that may come up. I'm SO thankful my children go to Stewart.

Needs major work in special education. School restrains students and has isolation rooms which are disturbing. Called daily about issues that were manageable at other schools before district switched her placement. Forgot to put her on the bus one day and the bus had to turn around for her to get her home. All in all the worst experience I have ever had. I had heard good things about them but our experience with them has been so bad we are looking into switching her to a new school.

We just moved to this district and we are still evaluating the school. There are many Spanish speaking students here!

They need to focus on all students not just Spanish speaking students. At times you feel as if they are biased and that if your child is not in the bilingual program, they don't care much. The gifted and talented services are not made to challenge the students, but merely to keep them busy. That misses the purpose of having a pull-out program. Teachers are not willing to do subject acceleration nor curriculum compacting, and make GT students do drill problems and endless worksheets instead of giving them challenging work.
