Comal ISD is horrible this year. We have been under a excessive heat warning with temperatures feeling like 103-105 during recess and even hotter in afternoon Garden ridge doesn't even have a covered playground and the school still makes them go outside. Even if they did have a covered playground the heat is still too horrible to be in. The school goes by a wet bulb system that's at davenport high school for their sports which is stupid to go by. They do not go by actual temperature they go by a rating. If it gets to 92.1 the kids stay inside. The temperature during recess felt like 103 yesterday and today at recess felt like 105. I looked at the reading score of the wet bulb it was at 91. Still not at 92.1 so basically the schools have not heat guidelines. This is NOT sports so don't go by that. This is school where kids are in school clothes and have to come back inside hot , sweating and miserable which is a distraction while trying to do work or could be worse is kids get so hot then get sick from being in the excessive heat.

The principal at this school is cold and robotic. She doesnt care about her staff and is a poor leader. The poor leadership is reflected in the poor scores. When 3/4 of the staff cant stand their leader its time to make a change. Mr. Kim, your district is better than this, the city of Garden Ridge deserves better than this. This school is great, the staff loves the kids and they take care of each other. They just need to throw out the rotten apple at the top of the pile.

I strongly disagree because our grandkids got into a bus accident and parents werent notified till later on in the day we questioned it and everyone pointed fingers

I cant say much due to I havent witnessed
Posted: March 23, 2020
The reason I disagree is because my grandkids got bullied and not much was done again depending who you are and who you know
Posted: March 23, 2020
I would rate it a 2 due to this school is no different than Edgewood district or SAISD at least in these school you can justify why some kids do wrong things . and doesnt rate its self a high rating .

Garden Ridge ES (Comal ISD) is a great school. The teachers are first rate, friendly, and take the time to get know each student. The school has a competitive interscholastic robotics team (students compete for team membership as early as 3rd grade), a string program, and a gifted and talented program second to none. Active PTA, aggressive professional educator development, and community involvement.
