I have toured over 20 preschools in the San Antonio area and have sent my children to 3 different schools before finding Acorn. It is hands down the best preschool in the city. The staff has a deep knowledge of child development and gears it learning to be completely appropriate for that age. Everything from academic learning to social-emotional learning is taught through play at the Acorn. The teachers are firm but always kind and encouraging. They handled my energetic ADHD boy in a completely admirable way. They encourage the kids spirits to shine while teaching them to pay attention to friends and how to be kind. They have ample academics that is age appropriate and taught through play so that the kids never see it as a chore. They teach responsibility and self-management with a completely positive can do attitude. I LOVE the Acorn and wish we could stay forever.

We LOVE The Acorn!!! My three-year-old daughter can't wait to get out of the car and get into school every time I take her. This school is so special for so many reasons: The teachers are loving, supportive, and caring; kids are encouraged to learn through play rather than sitting and memorizing letters and numbers, etc.; the school emphasizes developing kindness and a spirit of giving amongst children; and the school involves its parents as often as possible in celebrations, including field trips and outings. I am incredibly thankful we found The Acorn!

I initially sent my child to a very well known Montessori school at age three and he had a horrific experience, complete with the Montessori teacher yanking, shoving, and threatening him then telling him he is "a delinquent." I pulled him immediately and by the grace of the universe found The Acorn had one spot available! I had not considered it before because of the distance from our home, but after an immediate tour I knew distance did not matter. It is run by advance- degrees child development professionals who base the teaching foundation on Jean Piaget. Not only did the outstanding teachers (and he had four in his class!) completely embrace him but the trauma he experienced at this Montessori school was soon forgotten. This is a child-centered school and environment. We have stayed three years now and while we had a chance to go to kindergarten at a prestigious long-wait listed private boys academy in the city I feel we 100% made the right decision to keep him at Acorn for kindergarten despite losing our spot at this other school (which told me I would have to pay for expensive tutoring prior to kindergarten to get in, which is ridiculous.) Every class is wonderful but the kindergarten is the crown jewel. From learning how to write their own books through brave writing and spelling, to science experiments, to learning soduku, to dramatic play, to learning responsibility and self management through academic weekly contracts, and on and on, you won't get this "wonder years" experience for your child anywhere else in San Antonio. This school is vibrant. The children are happy and articulate and expressive. The teachers love children and are compassionate - and after the Montessori nightmare this is extremely important. And with an advanced understanding and application of child development theory learning is fostered in a way that doesn't feel like learning, yet they are right on par. My only recommendation is that they form a first through fifth grade so we don't have to leave!

The Acorn is such a wonderful place to learn and grow! Our child has loved every year. The program is very developmentally appropriate, the teachers have many years of experience before teaching here, The Acorn school feels like an extended family. Everyone is on board to help each child experience the joy of discovery in very loving and safe environment. Our family highly recommends the Acorn, our "little acorn" is going to have strong roots.

The Acorn is a "warm hug" that embraces you the moment you grace their halls. Every teacher is amazing! The administrators are engaged, and everyone has the children's best interests in mind and protect them fiercely. It is a place of an amazing love for learning and innocence that inspires your child to reach new heights academically and socially. We were privileged to have our son blossom there from PK-3 through kindergarten. He entered a shy boy and is now a bold, outgoing, intelligent and intellectually curious second-grader. Our daughter, two years behind, is relishing her final days at Acorn in kindergarten. The experience of learning at this amazing school is one we will all cherish for our children for their lives. They're both already talking about how their own children will go to school here!

We LOVE the Acorn. Our children have attended for the last three years and every day has been a joy. I cannot say enough positive things about this wonderful school. The teachers are kind, knowledgeable, loving and the absolute best. Great facility. Wonderful community. I am so pleased my children had the opportunity to begin their school years at the Acorn.

Acorn is a unique, creative school where children are free to be who they were created to be! It is imaginative, developmentally appropriate, and teaches the children to think outside the box. It creates the most wonderful memories- I would know as I went there and am so proud to send my children there!

I am a very involved and discriminating parent when it comes to my child's schooling. I have toured many schools in several states, and we have firsthand experience with several schools. I am so happy that we found Acorn, and chose it for our son. The philosophy at Acorn is wonderful and we have we been impressed time and again with the teachers, the activities, and with our son's reaction to his time spent there. He loves it, and so do we!

The Acorn school has been the home for both my daughters and now my son. All of the programs are excellent, and the teachers are dedicated, caring, and friendly. They evaluate and help the kids with whatever developmental needs are best for them, and always encourage all children to excel. The rooms are inviting and the kids always love going. Worse thing about it is the short days, but that's probably for the best, to avoid student or teacher burnout. From the early pre-K to the Kinder program, I can't recommend Acorn school highly enough!!

I sent my daughter to school here and will not be sending my other children here. She had an "average" experience. I didn't see any great progress in learning or any other area.

I went to The Acorn through kindergarten and absolutely love it. I am now graduating from college and in a year I will be a certified teacher for elementary education. The Acorn is my dream school to work at and I would feel so lucky to be back there. The Acorn gave me such a wonderful foundation and is a big part of the reason I chose to go into education. The staff at the school is simply amazing. They remember every student they've ever had by name, as well as their parents. I took swimming lessons from one of my teachers and I was in another one of my teacher's weddings. I cannot even express with words how amazing this school is. I hope to be back there one day.

The Acorn School truly celebrates family and childhood! The Acorn has a curriculum that allows our children to learn through the joy of play...hands-on lessons in basic science, math and the natural world are part of each school day's activities. Additionally, concepts such as reading readiness, language acquisition and social skills are interwoven throughout the school day in a loving and sensitive manner. The teachers are loving and wonderful! The Acorn School is housed in a beautiful old house which has been converted to accommodate the school...it just feels like home! Each class area has a large room for group activities such as dramatic play, Spanish and music classes. There are art rooms used for daily art. And, each class area has an adorable book loft where our children can spend quiet time with books. This school is such a special place to be - it celebrates childhood and family.

My son attends the Acorn and it's the perfect balance of nurture and education for preschoolers. It's the kind of start that will help him to always enjoy learning. He wants to go everyday. The teachers and directors are outstanding.
