They have too many students in the classroom with various different behaviors and the teach can't manage this.

Lesson plans are posted onine but they don't list the classwork or homework. How are parents suppose to know what is supposed to be done in classf?

The teachers are average and they try hard. Communication is awful between parents and staff. 504 plans are not implemented with fidelity. This campus is in great need of an overhaul of out with the substandard and on to find the above standard.

SJHS has found a way to balance academics, fine arts, and athletics in a way that other small schools have not. SJHS was one of just 3% of schools in the state to earn the Texas Honors Circle Campus Award and their standardized test scores consistently beat the state average by 10% or more. There are caring and intelligent teachers throughout the building who put the best interest of the student first, and while athletics is an important part of the culture at SJHS, the coaches put academics first and support teachers and administration in making sure students put academics first as well. Hands down the best middle school in the area!

Sports are way more important than education. The kids leave early, multiple times a week, to attend sports. Hours early off their education is lost, to play sports. These kids have athletics in the morning, some for the first 3 hours of the day. Lets do the math: 7 hours in a school day. Minus the 3 hours of sports: leaves 4 hours. If they leave 2 hours early, that leaves 2 hours in a day. They get to eat lunch (35 minutes) and have 5 minutes between each class (8 periods a day-40 minutes): That leaves 45 minutes for MATH, SCIENCE, ENGLISH, HISTORY, MUSIC, MASS COM, STUDY HALL, ETC ETC, ETC. All the important educational classes are pushed aside to make that all important baseball, or football, or soccer, or track , or whatever game. Priorities make the world a better place. SISD has Zero for these kids education.

The education base here is less than it appears to be. The schools have great ratings, some of the best in the nation. This is all smoke and mirrors. The children are graded by showing up to class, not for the content of their work. My child comes home with 100s on papers with misspellings and punctuation errors. This should be seen and taught in class, not after the grades have come home. I urge you to seek other alternatives than SISD. Tuition is waived because the district would like new buildings. Because of this, the class sizes are too large and education falls to wayside. Job postings seek 'FOOTBALL COACH with history experience' instead of 'HISTORY TEACHER with football experience'. Clearly we know where the priorities are.

I love this school and the entire school system. Principal Diem has great leadership and has the support of the faculty, staff, parents, and administration. He has a can do attitude, us very responsive to questions and recommendations. The faculty really care about the student's whole experience from an academics standpoint as well as extra curricular perspective. This is a smaller school, which allows students to try different things. I love how the faculty and staff support the students' dreams and encourage the kids to reach for the stars. Trying new things is encouraged by all.

This school is amazing. This is my first year here and I already love it. They have the most amazing teachers. All are super nice and give each and every student attention. The principal is so nice.

My son is surronded by caring teachers at this school--and that and a caring community is what makes a difference.
