As a military family with three children, we've experienced many elementary schools across the country, and unfortunately, this has been our worst experience to date. Over the years, we've had four different teachers here, and most have been unhelpful—some even coming across as hostile. There is little to no academic support offered, and struggling students are often left to fall further behind without intervention. The principal appears more focused on enforcing arbitrary rules than fostering a supportive learning environment, and her leadership feels more about control than care. Additionally, the carpool system is poorly managed and hazardous. The entire parking lot is blocked off, forcing parents to park along a busy street or in a nearby neighborhood, creating an unsafe situation for children and drivers alike.

My special needs son did not get any assistance and often felt lost in class. The sped teacher was bouncing from class to class and my son felt like he wasn’t getting the attention he needed.

The school doesn’t provide a safe environment. The teacher left the classroom unattended and that is when a student with behavior issues decided to hit my son in the back of his head with an eraser. After this incident, I Decided to pull my son from this school because lack of care and the insensitive nature of how the faculty treated this situation. They had a no care attitude about it and till this day no one owned up nor apologized.

My child has attended many schools and for being in such a nice area, I thought this school would be better. No bilingual program. Can't say much about the extracurricular activities as they were limited, lottery based, and always full. My child signed up for every single one and wasn't selected for any. Can't speak for other teachers, but my daughters teacher's attitude showed that she was annoyed to even be there. My child does exceptionally well in school and has loved all her previous teachers but she didn't like her teacher at this school, which was a first. My child complained that she would snap at the whole class when one/two other students acted up and punished everyone because of it. Little to no communication from the teacher. My experience was one of a disorganized school. PTA involvement is the lowest I have seen in any school my child attended. Counselors offered great programs. The GT program was great and my child absolutely adored the GT teacher. The GT program and the counselors seemed like the only good things about this school. Would give this school a 4/10.

I'm surprised to see the negative reviews on Henderson Elementary. I noticed many are simply old reviews and do not speak to the core values that are instilled at Henderson. Both of my boys (6 and 5 yrs. old) are currently attending Henderson and both of their teachers are extremely attentive. The faculty and staff go above and beyond to ensure the children are fully engaged. School sponsored events are hosted periodically throughout the year and this shows exactly how much Henderson has invested in my children's learning. A big heartfelt shoutout to Ms. Keith and Ms. Macias for making my boys' learning experience a fun filled journey. With the recent passing of the school principal, Mr. Mackey, the school has rallied together to ensure a safe space for the children. Lastly, if you are a parent that is considering Henderson, then you need to be willing to immerse yourself in Henderson and offer to volunteer whenever possible. We are ALL in this together and its a community based school.

Can only speak for in-person learning, but my kiddo’s teacher has gone above and beyond and the school has been super vigilant about covid precautions. My son’s teacher was awesome about helping him virtually if he stayed home or assisting with his 504 in person.

Bad in teachers behavior, but they tried to do his work plan, it doesn’t matter if the student don’t learn, some teachers are good but are minority and they lack of empathy. Some personal that are in other positions are kind but you have to explain better, because if you love your kids you have to be checking all, don’t trust only the grades, check your kid at home.

They try to learn more but fast and this doesn’t help students later on the next year they lost time repeating one more time, but the first time the student isn’t successful.

I am a strongly dissatisfied with the leadership in this school primarily with the principal and some of the office staff. They are always asking for more parent involvement yet they are very rude to both parents and students, making the environment very unwelcoming. We are at this school because of the bilingual program, yet it appears as the principal would rather not have this program in his school. I believe the leadership role of a principal is to be available and an example to the students that could possibly look up to him, instead he is demeaning, rude, and ignores children. I think the leadership at this school needs to urgently be looked at and improved. Our children deserve to be in a caring and POSITIVE environment.

When you come to the principle with a problem, he dances around the issue and never solves it. You easily get brushed under the rug.

Even when the child scores highly and does great with academics, if they have any kind of behavioral difficulties, they get pushed aside and are basically told to sit down and shut up. When I asked for a 504 for my daughter's ADHD, the principle implied that she didn't need one. When I pushed to get it, he said I'd received a call but I never did.

When my youngest daughter struggled with some mean girls, the teacher pulled the children aside and told them to leave her alone.

They let the teachers decide how much homework to give. My youngest gets no homework, other than an occasional easy packet she gets 10 days to finish. My oldest never complains about her homework being too hard.

I would say strongly disagree if it wasn't for my youngest daughter's amazing teacher. All other teachers I've experienced so far do not have a whole lot of compassion, patience, creativity, or structure.

Principal, teachers and staff are all dedicated and professional, my daugther is really happy to be here, they have bilingual program which is a plus for us and covenient. Also we required special support to work on improve learning abilities of my daugther and they have done a GREAT job with her. My appreciation to all of them. Highly recommendable school.
