Indian Springs Elementary School

This used to be a good school. Top educators, faculty and staff that was engrained in your child's success and well being. This year, there was a recent shift in staff -with new leaders, teachers, even nurse. My child has since been miserable. There is no accountability for student's actions, no individual plan for various student's educational needs and you truly just feel like a number. My child complains daily regarding teachers' moods. Shares that they get yelled at and disregarded. Their solutions for almost anything seems to be to pair your child up with an adult mentor, why would this be an option for involved, educated and present parents? Why would I want a random volunteer to be involved? The school should be taking more accountability!

Several times, I have called in for other reasons and was met with "an issue" that I was never made aware of. I have watched the joy and excitement slowly drain from my child's eyes. Beware-these scores are from year's past, unfortunately its not the supportive, inclusive school it once was.

My daughter went to school here. The staff was incredible! She was behind when she started and was excelling by the end of the year.

I have two children. One just finished her first year here and the other finished her second year . Our first year was stellar- because of her teacher. She was beyond amazing! She unfortunately left . My concerns are with the “special needs” . My child requires special attention due to speech deficits. I haven’t been pleased with how they approach it and the lack of follow up and taking the time to explain what they’re doing. , setting goals and overall communication.
Both my children’s teachers this year were … nice… but I wasn’t happy with the lack of again communication with status updates and or lack of responses to me asking about their progress.
Overall the schools faculty is superb… maybe we just had an off year with the teachers . Perhaps it’s because they are in lower grade levels. I do love the nurse and principal. They do seem to do lots of activities for the children in general. Beautiful campus.. I really hope next year is better .

I will say we are grateful for the process our child has made … but I think that’s a low standard to have considering what we put into the school with not only tax dollars but volunteer hours and doing everything we should be doing as parents .
I also hope they improve their ability to be transparent- I felt lost with them using different apps, how they send emails… it was confusing what the expectations were for take home work ect.
I feel like this is stuff that can be improved on. Overall we’re happy with the school . These are just the negatives that I want to call attention to.

Both of my daughters have attended Indian Springs, and it has been WONDERFUL. My oldest daughter went to K and 1st Grade at Mission Academy. The school was HORRIBLE but her Teacher was an actual Angel. SHE made all the difference. We moved to Converse, and she attended Copperfield. While the school was nice, her teacher was not. Not even close, should have stayed in retirement. Then we moved to 281 North and she started 3rd grade at Indian Springs. All of her teachers were awesome, with only two being just good, but they were still better then most. Our youngest daughter is not in 5th grade there, and she is DOING GREAT! We have been thru 2 Principals and I will say, they both have been FANTASTIC! Covid hit all educational institutions hard, and this school was no different. However thru out it all, they were professional and very caring as well as understanding to all of the students and families. The teachers have been EXCELLENT and we couldn't have asked for better souls to teach and look after our daughters. Now, do I wish there was more homework? OMG yes, but it is what it is and we consistently give our girls extra work regardless. I have nothing but superb compliments and appreciation for this school and its staff, from the Principles, to the OUTSTANDING NURSE, the office personnel that make this seamless and the unyielding dedication, thoughtfulness, attention to detail, and LOVE that the teachers provide on a day to day basis! Thank you Indian Springs Elementary for EVERYTHING. We will miss you!

Indian Springs is an AMAZING school! The principals and teachers care so much about their students and go above and beyond to make sure they are successful. I had a 5th grader last year and a kindergartner this year and they both loved/love Indian Springs!

After researching schools in the area we decided to buy right down the road from this one. Our daughter started as a new student in a new town in the middle of the year. No teacher contacted me before, we weren't given the option to meet the teacher ahead of time, parents aren't even allowed in the building. My daughter was very nervous and cried most of the day for three weeks. The counselor was not helpful, lied to me about checking in on her and even had the audacity to suggest putting her on medication for anxiety. She was a scared little girl in a big new school and no one was helping her adjust. Once the teacher actually emailed me AFTER a week in school we learned some of how they teach and it was different that where we came from and she was punished for it. My daughter writes in beautiful cursive and wasn't allowed to here, and was penalized for it on homework. Not to mention the political agenda being pushed by teachers was inappropriate. Carline in the mornings is down write unsafe, extremely fast and rude to anyone who takes a minute to adjust to their surroundings. We opted to homeschool the rest of the year and found a private school close by that actually cares about children and not just about numbers.

I can email or text the teachers and I can get a response back immediately. Teachers here are willing to help the kids before and after school if needed.

The school has values: put first things first; think with the end in mind; do the right thing without being told, etc.... and these are instilled in the kids daily.

We transitioned from a private school. I was nervous about the class ratio and if my kids would be academically behind. At the beginning it was a struggle, but the staff is amazing and helped my kids were they struggled from the private school academics-Math. My son required speech therapy and the school helped him with that and with reading---no more private speech therapy required! ISES staff is amazing!!

My kids have had such a great educational experience at Indian Springs. All of the staff are motivated to help the children learn. I can't say enough good things about the principal, either! Mrs. Wulfsberg is absolutely fantastic! She is receptive to parents' input and greets every child by name. Thanks to the hard work of Mrs. Popescu, the GT program at Indian Springs is fantastic, too. She is always finding new ways to challenge the children in that program. Love this school!

We transitioned to ISES from a local private school in 2012. We were really nervous since public schools have much bigger classes and because in the private school sector there is a lot of negative talk about public. I can say with confidence that it was the best decision we have ever made. We just completed our third year there and will have both a first and a fourth grader next year. They are both thriving academically and socially. They are very happy and more challenged by the curriculum than I expected. The teachers have all been amazing and the administrative staff even better. It feels like one big family and we love it!!

My fifth and third grader love attending Indian Springs! We moved to San Antonio last year from the D.C. area and have been happy with both the teachers and staff at this school. From day one, the principal has proven to be a professional and caring influence on the students. All of the teachers we have met have followed her lead and exhibit a true love of teaching. The PTA is full of enthusiastic parents who want to help Indian Springs Elem. in any way they can. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this neighborhood school!

This school is great. I couldn't have found a better school for my daughters in K and 1st. We moved here from Louisiana and they welcomed them like they have always lived here. The education and their developement was top notch. A family focused school who takes pride in their education.

This was the first year the school was open! This is home is the school song and nothing says that more then the atmosphere of this school! The faculty and staff are wonderful. They truly care about their students and the students know it. The extracurricular activities are fabulous. I love Indian Springs. I am a teacher at a highly ranked other elementary school, so I am usually extremely observant of how a school runs. I am very proud to say my children attend Indian Springs!

This is a new (built two years ago) elementary school in a great community. The principal exudes confidence and is an excellent leader. She literally knows every student's name and personality and truly wants each one to do his/her best. We have also been very impressed by the attitudes of teachers. All of the teachers my children have had thus far have been innovative in their teaching techniques and styles. With a strong PTA to back them, the teachers are able to reach all the children and get them excited about learning! We couldn't be happier about Indian Springs Elementary!
