This school is a great place to come together! They have an amazing community of teachers and students but they are some thing we have to acknowledge at this school. Even though there are amazing teachers, most of the teachers here are very biased and everyone gets different levels of attention here. It can also be pretty hard to make friends at this school because drama and gossip spreads very fast making it hard to keep up with everything at all times. There is bullying at this school and honestly, because of that the school has pushed me to be the best at everything. Even though that might sound the greatest it can be pretty hard to let these things go and make sure you are perfect all the time. Overall, this school does great in their studies and with their physical education! I would recommend this school, but please be aware of what I have stated here! Thank you!

I think it is a great school overall. Its just that, there are some bullying at this school that makes me feel a little unsafe. I used to like going to school a lot, but then, this girl started bullying me, and now I don't really want to go to school anymore.

This school is so terrible, the amount of racism and homophobia is SOOO BAD. The girl coaches in athletics are really sexist towards the boys but just walking down the hallways makes me feel unsafe and the rumors about 8th graders having sex in the stall also the fight clubs in the hallways.

"This school has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years (2019-2024). Previously, it struggled due to a lack of care and attention from the older district administration and older leadership. However, with new changes at both the school and district levels, this institution has become a shining example of diversity and inclusivity. It's an ideal environment for students who aspire to attend college or university and understand the importance of respecting others' differences. Our school community welcomes everyone, regardless of background or identity, and promotes a culture of acceptance and empathy.

As a result of this transformation, some individuals who previously spread hate and bullying have chosen to leave the school, as they could no longer continue their harmful behavior. This has created a safer and more supportive environment for all students.

If you're a parent seeking a nurturing environment where your child can grow and thrive, look no further! Our students and staff are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive space for all. #GoSpartans #LoveStilles #ComeAndLearn"

The athletic coaches (girl coaches) where extremely aggressive, they discriminated against lgbtq+ students, they would talk about your back depending on your background and they wouldnÂ’t let girls use the restroom during class even during periods. They would also never punish boys for se$ua! a$$u!t and would instead cover it up. So glad I finished middle school. Never go there ( the band directors are amazing!!!)

This school is the most racist and homophobic school I have ever witnessed. I am appalled at the language these kids use without hesitation. We have moved several times, across many states, and been in multiple school districts and have NEVER been around this type of culture. If you are interested in moving to this district, donÂ’t! I am currently looking into other school option to immediately pull my child out. This administration needs to get a handle on these kids asap.

Terrible administration. If the kids donÂ’t make the bus (bc itÂ’s late, doesnÂ’t show up, or whatever), they force the kids to stay outside by themselves without supervision. They discriminate against children and make up whatever punishment they want for harmless things, like banning a child from attending football games for throwing a ball with a friend. This is a Middle School GAME. They donÂ’t care about the children and are on a power trip. We will be attending a private school next year.

My daughter started at this school after moving from a high diversity low income area and she had terrible time fitting in. SheÂ’s moved schools multiple times and her experience at this school has been the worst by far. The students at Stiles are over worked and put under too much pressure all so that the school can keep up its pretty test scores. Most of the teachers donÂ’t care about their students and the students have absolutely no respect for each other. The racism and homophobia in the school is absolutely outrageous and my daughter has never experienced anything like it. As a black woman my wife and I were disgusted. Students here mock MY culture, are openly homophobic, and rub money in each otherÂ’s faces. My daughter has always been a straight A student and all the sudden she started making Cs and Ds. It turns out the drop in her grades was a result of the racism and classism she was experiencing. Not to mention the amount of work the teachers blindly pile on top of the students. My daughter was drowning. The only way to save her was to pull her out of this school. Luckily she is doing much better now but she has completely lost her confidence and love for learning.

I am currently a student here and have never had any problems with the teachers. They have great academic and athletic programs (I am an 8th grader who is in both athletics and advanced classes) There is also a very wholesome community with teachers that want to do what's best for the kids. Some of y favorite teachers are people like Mrs. Griffith (History/ELA), Coach Perkins (Science/athletics), and Ms. Lu (History). These are the teachers that more people need. They are easy to talk to, make class fun, but at the end of the day still proficiently teach their respective classes.

We moved from the Bay Area as we were very disappointed with the schools there, both public and private schools. My daughter was struggling socially and had almost no friends and I knew I had to make a change for her especially once Covid hit as the isolation took it's toll. Once we moved to Austin, I didn't know what to expect at Stiles, but I hoped for her to have at least 2 - 3 friends, and to enjoy school. Stiles has been a great experience from the beginning. The principal 'walks the talk' and is very hands-on and involved. The school encourage kids to be independent and provide them with resources to thrive. I have heard great things about all the teachers from my daughter, and Science is her favorite subject, Mr. Turner is a fun teacher, who comes up with innovative experiments and my daughter enjoys his classes. The counselor Mrs. Clayton is very nice and understanding and makes herself available when needed. My daughter is thriving at Stiles and has a wide circle of friends. Bullying is almost non-existent and if it does happen, it is addressed immediately. I feel the staff understands my daughter and where she's coming from - her interests, passions and where she stands academically. The campus feels safe and secure and the staff ensures the kids are safe starting from arrivals at school. Staff are always present at Pickup and drop-off with stop signs to ensure pedestrian safety. I am very impressed with this school and I can't recommend it enough.

I used to go to this school in 7th and 8th grade, and I came from a really lowly ranked junior high school. I'm now in 9th grade, and all I can say about the teachers, is "Wow!" They are absolutely phenomenal and can/will help you through anything. They really impacted my life unlike anyone has in my life.

Posted: December 19, 2018

This school actually helped me learn how to, not only love the people around me, but to also love myself, which I didn't know how to do until I attended Stiles.

I even remember one time when I was being bullied to the extreme, and the councelor was so nice and sweet and understanding. Also the AP is nicer when you get to know her.

Posted: December 19, 2018

I'm going to be completely honest here. No lies, no phony material, but the whole truth. This school is nothing short of incredible. Everything you hear about the school is true. From the learning experience, to the students, teachers and the community. Everyone is just so nice. Ever since I attended this school, which is when I was in 7th and 8th grade (I'm now in 9th) I have truly shaped my life into one I am proud to have and be a part of. I'm truly honored to have been a part of the Stiles community, because everywhere you go; pure kindness and admiration is expressed among and throughout everyone.

Stiles middle school has a strong belief on the teachers suppying the homework. In the end, the teachers balance it perfectly, making sure no one gets behind or builds up too much stress from homework.

This school lacks everything a school should. Your peers are not helpful, teachers are biased and have favorites, and when you ask a question you get told how stupid your question was. Bullying is at an extreme. They call it a "No place for hate" but I get tremendous amounts of hate. Lots of unnecessary work, just so teachers can go on their phones and text/play games. The only teachers who represent what a school should be like are Ms. Bergeron, Ms. Bruce, Mr. Gardner, Ms. Amon, Ms. Fitts, Ms. Biediger, Mr. Breaux, and that's all. If I was asked to give this school a rating, I would give it 0/5 stars. Avoid this school at all costs.

This is a terrible school, if you have a choice to send your kids here-don't!
They have the worst bunch of teachers. They are judgmental toward students with learning challenges. They obviously don't want to have to actually work at teaching them. They put zero, extra effort to teaching these students. They made my daughter feel worthless.

My daugher has thoroughly enjoyed 6th grade at Stiles Middle School. The office staff has been truly wonderful and she loves all her teachers and they have made the transition from elementary to middle school easy.

Posted: January 12, 2015

This school has become a beacon for bullying. Not just from the students but from teachers as well. The kids that attend have set groups and do not let outsiders in very easily. They will like you for a short time while you are the shiny new toy and then shun you like a parrah. This is our second year at Stiles. Last year we were the shiny new toy, this year the parrah. When you try to confide in one of the staff members they share that information with other parents and staff members. This school lacks ethics, and the favoritism runs deep.

Posted: January 8, 2015

This school is very academically weak. Science teacher talks about what he intends to make for dinner that night, language arts teacher can't explain a wrong answer but insists it is in the answer book so it must be correct, bullying by teachers and students goes unaddressed.

This is a great new school. Many parents are involving in the school and many talents students are in this scool.

My daughter has attended this school since it opened. I continue to be highly impressed with the teachers and staff. They truly care and challenge my daughter academically daily. She is thriving at this school!
