We are so thankful to have found Cunae International for our daughter. The material is taught in a manner that the students retain the information. The kids are required to do presentations, research papers, projects that prepare them for college. The school teaches life skills ensuring the the children make choices and take responsibility. In addition, Cunae offers the IB to those interested in taking that path. We believe our daughter will graduate next year with a top notch education and will be ready for adulthood.

The only bad thing I can say about this school is that we haven’t found it earlier.
Our son attended 11th and 12th grade and graduated in May 2023. Coming from Germany only 5 years ago, the size of the public high school was an issue which we did not anticipate. Cunae is in comparison a lot smaller, but that was in our case exactly what we were looking for. Our son absolutely thrived in the last two years. The IB program was what attracted us in the first place, but the whole concept at this school is fantastic.

I have two children in Cunae and both have been in the school for almost a year now.
My children have improved significantly in their academics and social life.
The teachers are pleasant, highly qualified and very professional.

The first time we visited Cunae International School looking for a school for our kids to begin Pre-K, we knew immediately it was the school for us! The setting and physical facilities are peaceful and relaxed; the administrative staff and teachers are amazing, dedicated professionals; and the diversity of students and teachers provides for great experiences with other nationalities and cultures.
All of the teachers are truly caring individuals, totally dedicated to the students’ education, development and well-being. The teaching approach at Cunae is designed for the children to learn to think and enjoy learning, not just memorize. Because the school is small, the class sizes are optimum for teacher-to-student interaction, fostering individual, as well as group, learning experiences and creativity.
Cunae has been an amazing experience for our kids. They love their teachers, their school mates and their classroom settings. They love to go to school, often on the weekends or holidays asking when they can go back to school. We’re not even thinking about any other school for our kids, and highly recommend Cunae for any family looking for a quality school for their children.

We are very happy with the education and support our children have received at Cunae. They follow the IB curriculum which allows children to go deep on topics and learn how to inquire and question. They have developed such a love for learning - and they are always happy to go to school. They spend a lot of time outdoors in nature, which is really important to us. My kids are all learning well and being nurtured in small classes with well-trained, dedicated and caring teachers. There is a lovely community of families with many opportunities for parents to get involved. We would highly recommend the school to anyone looking for a well-rounded education with plenty of green space time and individualised support.

My children started at Cunae when the youngest was in Pre-K and the eldest in Kindergarten, and I *cannot* say enough about this school. My husband and I had been searching for a school that recognized the importance not only of academics, but of outdoor playtime and creativity as well. To say that both of my kids have thrived at Cunae would be an understatement. From the very beginning the teachers monitored their social interactions carefully, making sure that while they were learning they were also adapting to their new environment/peers.The teachers were also great at engaging the students. As a former teacher I was impressed by the curriculum. Pre-pandemic, my kids were always coming home with new information to share about French, or Spanish, or science (plus they were always bringing home a ton of art). The small class sizes and the way they've handled online learning during the pandemic should be held up as an example to all schools. Highly highly recommended.

Being a small school it is easy to recognize if there are any potential problems arising between students. The staff is very involved to try to prevent any negative interaction between students.

Our experience is with the upper school level. Based on that, the work is rigorous but if your child has good time management skills and are motivated that's definitely an advantage.

Yeah absolutely not. Most of the teachers here are bad. I remember one of the teachers punished me for going to an off limits area during recess even though I literally got out of there in 5 seconds. Meanwhile a classmate kept spitting food at me, and that was absolutely ok with them. Where is their logic? The PE teacher also punished me for making the least offensive joke ever, but when I actually was bullied, nobody cared at all. Not to mention my class had 9 students, and the teacher also complained how "she has too much assignments to grade". In a report card, she called my views on certain things "illogical" even though I always explained my views thoroughly. I mean this isn't a marxist safe space, not everyone will agree with you. The teachers also indoctrinate you with biased political propoganda claiming there is a gender pay gap and how some politicians are very bad for this and that. And that was in 6th grade by the way, not even in high school.

Haha, yet again a big nope. None of my classmates respected me and again. MY CLASS HAD 9 STUDENTS. But the teachers still didn't care. I'm glad I left this school. In public school there are some annoying and bad people also but at least in public school they do stuff about it and you actually have good students there as well to redeem it.

I'm glad I left this school and I hope it closes down for good. The students here, the teachers here, everyone is horrible. I get in trouble for the dumbest reasons ever meanwhile other students get away with everyone.

The school provides the perfect environment to develop critical thinking and independent work, which are essential skills for future success. A lot of attention is paid to the emotional side, as happy children learn best. This does not mean there is no learning, on the contrary, the IB program is rigorous and the school has to pass regular inspections from the program itself to keep the certification, so it is absolutely impossible for the children to be behind their grade if the school is certified. Wherever we go, our daughter is praised for the intelligent questions she makes and the way she can analyze what she hears critically. That is something she has developed at Cunae, and, together with the passion for learning that is stimulated in class, is the best gift you can give to your child.

My daughter is thriving at Cunae International School and will be applying to Texas A&M with the potential of at least 24 credits earned through its rigorous, certified IB diploma program (comparable to AP credits) - this will save us a year's worth of tuition!

I am a UMich grad, William&Mary Law JD and am alternatively certified to teach all HS sciences in Texas - I love learning and, like all parents, want the best for my daughter. After a lot of research and on site visits, Cunae was the consistent winner in all value measurements. I determined that, at Cunae, she has the greatest chance for success as well as the advantage of earning significant college credit, which leverages tuition. She's in Upper School now - 2 years in, and I'm just as happy as ever, leaving public school (even in The Woodlands) was the right choice for us.

As parents with 2 children at Cunae it saddened me to see some of the recent comments. I just wonder if it is just different mindsets on how we want our children to develop and mature into well rounded & emotionally happy adults. After moving from Europe, experiencing the public schooling system here we are truly thrilled with our first year at this school. You will notice that the vast majority of students are European.
We couldn't find a more honest, decent and truly passionate individual than the owner of the school. She is passionate about her school , her teachers & her kids and their education ! She will do her utmost to discourage you from enrolling as she is aware that this approach just doesn't FIT with some. So many people here seem obsessed with meters on their child's achievement and how it compares to "the other persons child". If my neighbours' child can recite their 8 times tables faster or knows the height of the Empire State building then "they must be smarter than my child" or my child's school is not ramming enough facts down their throat.Panic sets in unfortunately. I saw too much of that in our last US school. Truly a very sad rat race to look at.Some very unhappy kids in the race to be "top of the class" with some very destructive mean of getting there from both parents & children. Our children have become more reflective individuals in the year that they have been at Cunae. Their academic learning has not been in the least bit compromised. They actively talk about "the world" and jump with genuine passion when Geography and cultures enter into a discussion. Geography is part of their everyday life. NOT a tedious SUBJECT. They're already learning physics and chemistry and don't even realise it . Math academia is completely in line with the "Singapore math" curriculum. If you're child is hungry for more & wants to and can advance further in math ? No problem. Our daughter has had nothing but one on one encouragement & assistance from her teacher. I wonder how an "assessment of academic knowledge" can be accurately ascertained if a child is then "tested" ( yet again ) on mathematical competence in a different math curriculum/ approach ?If you're looking for glitz & glamour & the latest and greatest this is not the school for you but if you're looking for a school with a soul then you've found it . My 2 cents

Cunae seemed to be a great school in the beginning. Our children were happy with the new school, until we began to notice many inconsistencies and some actual lies about the curriculum they were providing.
Unfortunately, our children at the end of 1 year of attendance were a full year behind academically. When we noticed through conversation they did not have a few of the basic skills they should have at their grade level we had them academically tested by a 3rd party tutor to find out they had learned very little in their last year at Cunae! We had to remove them from the school immediately and place them in special tutoring and new schools. They were able to catch up to their grade level in a few months of tutoring..they are bright children but were never taught any of the grade level basic concepts! We loved the "granola" and "Montessori" type vibe and appreciated the IB learning program...but had no idea that all they did was play! Playing is great, fun is wonderful, but not learning, so that you are now a full year behind is terrible and should really be considered a crime...Shame on you Cunae.

My daughter has attended Cunae for 6 years and has blossomed into a true thinker and "do-er". Cunae not only encourages academic growth, but also personal growth. The teachers truly care about each student and work with them on becoming authentic people, not simply regurgitating, test-taking students. The class sizes are kept intentionally small so that students and teachers can utilize the learning environment to the best of their abilities. As others have said, it is not the most polished school in The Woodlands, but it definitely is the best-intentioned, with the biggest heart.

As I know the challenge of finding feedback for school selection, I thought I would share our experience with Cunae for others to consider. Our son has finished PK3 and PK4 (3 days a week), and I couldn't be more happier with our choice of this school. If my review was based solely on my son's happiness with the school, I would give 5*. He loves his teachers, classmates, and thrives in the overall environment! There are some administrative items that I would like to see improvement on, but I surmise I would feel this way at any school (recognizing that no school is going to be perfect). I think the biggest consideration any parent should give in selection of school is the style of learning they are looking for their child... Cunae promotes learning by playing; if you want your child to learn by disciplined rigor and lecture, you might consider another school.

Our daughter has been attending Cunae for 2 years now and we have been very pleased. We were specifically looking for an IB school, and Cunae was one of a few to choose from in The Woodlands. We love the small class sizes (12 max), the individual attention each child gets from the teacher, and how the students, parents and teachers/administrators become a close knit group due to the school being such a small community. The other IB schools, such as Woodlands Prep and Cooper, have a more slick, polished look, but the nearly double tuition is paying for that glossy outer appearance and I question whether you are really getting more for your money. All the teachers at Cunae really love what they do and it shows. When we first came to Cunae last year, I spoke with many other parents that have said their child attended other schools first and they were unhappy. But after coming to Cunae, they are excited about school and thriving! And I can see it in my 2 kids as well... Our youngest attends the preschool side of Cunae ~ Creekwood Cottage, and both kids just love going to school here. It's like a small oasis in the woods. We highly recommend Cunae and Creekwood Cottage.

There are many great schools in The Woodlands but this is not one of them. The school is struggling financially and has very low enrollment and there is a reason. Spend your money on a better school with more to offer like John Cooper School or Woodlands Prep.

What a refreshing change to the institutional approach of the public school system! Engaging teachers who know their students, and really care whether or not they're learning. Our child's enthusiasm for school has been re-kindled at Cunae and we couldn't be happier. We are confident that the IB Program he is working toward will set him apart from the myriad of applicants to top colleges. It is well worth some of the "growing pains" of a new, small school.
