I wouldn't recommend this school if your child has a disability. They aren't treated fairly, you don't see academic progress, and their disability is used by the teachers—and consequently by the other children—against the child with the disability.

So glad my kids don’t go here after all since the boundary is for a different school. The principal is one of the rudest and unprofessional.

I would give Franklin 5 stars! They have great staff and a phenomenal PTA....i have subbed in the school district before and can honestly say i am extremely happy with all that Franklin offers. I have a 2nd grader and a kindergartener there. My 2nd grader has been there since kinder :)

They highly encourage reading and have great incentive programs for finishing their reading logs that the children love!

My children have received great support from the teachers and staff after a terrible family event. They are professional and great at keeping the children engaged.

They have pep rallys throughout the year that help enforce their 8 keys of excellence. They are also active in antibullying awareness and often have fundraisers and donation opportunities for other schools that don't have the resources that Franklin does.

The principal and vice principal are always in the halls making sure their presence is known.

although i cannot speak to the effectiveness, i often see staff one on one with students helping them through the day with different tasks

As a military member, my oldest son has attending three elementary schools in the last three years and by far Kay Franklin has been the best. The administration is fine and do their job. However, it is the teachers that set the school apart. My sons 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Fregeau was more than willing to get my child caught up and kept us up to date on his curriculum and how he was in class. She not only took the time to meet with us in person, but would send positive notes home, text messages, and e-mails. My son attended a common core state last year and it put him behind in Texas curriculum, but he finished the year on honor roll and I commend the school for this. The school is new so the classrooms are excellent, there is a good size playground and field to play.

Are teacher was excellent. She took the time to catch our son up and was communicating with us every step of the way.

They are active in their students well being and have set a student code of conduct that the enforce. It man dates the kids act with kindness and integrity.

I'm surprised at the previous negative review, because we are having a wonderful experience at Kay Franklin Elementary. It is a great little school with a good sense of community, since we all live in the same housing development. The administration and staff are very involved, and my children have nothing but good things to say about the teachers. My youngest child has an IEP/ARD, and things have been covered according to every state guideline. We have been included in every step of the process. There may have been a few hiccups here and there due to this being a brand new school last year, but things seem to be running very smoothly this year (2014-15). We are proud to be a part of the Franklin Colts family!

This school is so cold and has so many issue's I do not know where to start! First of all I am not picky I am pretty easy going and this administration at this school is horrid!! The attendance lady is rude, cold and just plain talks to you like you are beneath her. The whole front office is rude and unfriendly! My son has a IEP and it was NOT followed by the teachers at all! I can't tell you how bad I think this school is many people need to be let go! Very, very, dissatisfied! The children that go this school it really makes you question the involvement and parenting of the parents here! My children now go to Stuebing and I am so very pleased...the teacher's care so much and are loving and patient like they should be!
