This school is the worst the sixth grade math teacher doesnt not teach instead yells at a student for the whole class period plus the sixth grade dean is so annoying. Also all of the special ed kids literally will be believed over anyone .

This... is hands-down the WORST school I have ever attended. The teachers need to get off their butts and answer emails. NO ONE IS DOING ANYTHING ADMINISTRATIVE. This is basically a middle school aged daycare!! Kids are literally running around all around you like two year olds!!
I could go on, but I'm tired right now. Maybe I'll come back and edit this in more detail.
BOTTOM LINE?
Send your kids here if you want them to drive themselves crazy.

Excellent, my kids go to this school and they are both in honor role most of the time as they and i monitor their grades weekly on Gradespeed.

Most teachers give homework and expect it to be complete and handed in on time. A good percentage of it is done online which is great, prepares them for high school and college.
Posted: December 29, 2018
The teachers are great, help the students out in the best way possible and are passionate about what they do.
Posted: December 29, 2018
The students have great character and work hard to maintain their grades, with teacher setting high expectations for them.
Posted: December 29, 2018
Although there is turnover at this school, the principal sets the expectations of the teachers and students high at all times and you see the end result from the way the kids express themselves and the way the teachers also interact with students and parents.

After school weekly tutorials and Saturday tutorials are always there to support the students who are weak in the Core subjects.
Posted: December 29, 2018
The students who are behavior problems are taken care of effectively by the Deans and parents need to support this initiative. The latest 6th grade class made up mainly of the zoned kids are making the standards drop as their behavior is unbecoming.

Our experience is very good, initially we are hesitant of sending my daughter that far but I think we made the good decision of sending of school. I observed lot of changes since she started the academic year, I saw her confidence level in independently solving the problem is increased.
Thanks for the Teachers at BCMA

The professionalism of the faculty and staff sets the tone for the students. This gives a great example for the students about how to present themselves to the world.

I'm so proud to be a part of the BCMAR community. The school has an awesome concept. And the way information is delivered in the classrooms gives me, the parent, much satisfaction that my child is receiving a quality education at BCMAR!

Our experience has been very good. Our daughter had a range of options for middle schools to attend but she liked the academic rigor, the smaller size and the mix of people at BCMA. They have expanded their arts offerings since we arrived, which has been great, and the Latin Club has been a great discovery. Our daughter gets a bit frustrated with some of the teachers that she feels don't explain things as well as they should/could. But the fact is middle schoolers are always looking for ways to criticize something, so it's not a total surprise.

My son and niece both attended BCMA at Ryan and we had the BEST experience there. The teachers, front office and admin were just so amazing. I really feel that BCMA prepped them to become successful in High School. Neither one of them experienced any bullying nor were they ever exposed to any drugs on campus. I'm not sure why people are posting that on here. Yes, the campus is an ALL Magnet campus, you have to apply to get in and once you're in, you have to maintain good grades and conduct. I can 100% say that BCMA became family and even though my son and niece are in 10th grade, they still visit their former teachers and Dean. BCMA at Ryan really is the best school!

Im a former student here and I was a part of the first graduating class, this is a great school, I've made memories here that will last a lifetime, if you study and turn in your work you'll be fine, over the course of 3 years I formed strong bonds with my teachers, some of whom I am still in contact with today. This school helped me to get in to Carnegie Vanguard high school, it prepared me, and taught me how to study and to be a better student in general. There truly is no other curriculum like this, with neuroscience and Latin and many other science classes, the education your child will get here, will be unmatched anywhere else.

This school is a joke. It's supposed to be a magnet school, but it's not. After my child was already attending this school, I found out that there was nothing magnet about it. Anyone can get in! My 6th grader is in a class full of kids who NEVER turn in their assignments. And guess what, nothing happens to them. Only about five kids out of the whole 20 ever do any work. Also, another student in my child's class was transferred to a whole different section with other students and teachers after a boy in the class threatened to cut him with a knife if he didn't do his school work. How is it fair to move the child who was threatened????? Why not move the bully???? My child said it's common knowledge that this bully gets away with everything (always threatens kids, never does any work). My child also said this bully doesn't even listen to the teachers so basically they all just ignore him so that he doesn't cause a problem in the class. Ive already contacted the district because it is not fair to allow one kid to keep getting away with disrupting all the others. And if this kid can get away with threatening someone with a knife, what else will he get away with??? This school is a joke. Discipline is a joke. It's all a joke. The only reason I haven't removed my child from this campus is because the year is almost over. But my child will NOT be returning there for 7th grade.

It was sad to see our child come home disappointed or lose enthusiasm for subjects once enjoyed. Very few of the teachers seemed to be helpful.
Posted: July 12, 2016
Indifferent on the amount of homework, but the teacher feedback and grades seemed to take a while
Posted: July 12, 2016
Did not find the teachers to be very encouraging, helpful, or even courteous in helping the students or the parents

We started the school year at BCMA with high hopes and we were happy for our child to be given a chance to attend a better school with a supposed higher caliber of students, teachers, and curricula. We were surprised to find out that many teachers were new, or newer, and not seasoned or well into their careers. It really surprised us to see that a few of our childs teachers were absent on a regular basis Sometimes this would happen once or twice a week, and sometimes it was a few days in a row. This concerned us not only because of the loss of classroom and learning time. Our child expressed frustration over this on several occasions, and when this was relayed to the teacher by our student, some of the comments back were not positive. Out of the handful of times we contacted teachers for various reasons, only a few responded and were helpful. The online gradebook log-in usually didn't work. We were told it was a district-wide problem. So if you need updates on grades, we were only left to either contacting the teachers or waiting for progress reports. The content of the subjects are all labeled as pre-AP, which is a complete joke; they weren't exactly challenging. In speaking with a few other parents, we came to learn that we werent the only ones experiencing these issues, but we were especially surprised to learn that many teachers were leaving mid-year and basically long-term substitutes were put in their places. Technology in the classroom? Forget it. The few times they were used, students had to share due to a lack of computers, or a lack of working computers. Finally, the school is not in the greatest of neighborhoods. This school was on lockdown at least four times this last year due to active shooting situations in the neighborhood. It made us really question the safety of our student.

BCMA has great teachers! When great teachers leave, BCMA hires new great teachers! Thank you Baylor!

The children work together to complete assignments using social media so they are not so isolated when they do homework. Reinforcing skills at home that a student learned earlier that day in school helps to solidify the information in their short and long term memory so that they can apply the learned skill in life, as needed, in the future.

Teachers encourage children to do their best (whether working alone or in groups). Knowledge is power. The only way to succeed in life is to try... To put forth an honest effort each day, learn from both your successes and mistakes, and be a better person today than you were yesterday.

My daughter is at Baylor in her 2nd year attending and the only 'drugs' there are sugar and caffeine. My daughter is learning neuroscience, Latin, computer programming, debate, all Pre-AP classes and is exposed daily to highly intelligent and passionate teachers if all ages. The teachers have helped her become an excellent student.
Thank you Baylor!

Baylor College of Medicine at Ryan (BCMA) fails to utilize technology to communicate with parents the progress on how a student is doing in class. Majority of parents always want to know how their child is doing in class. That means teachers should grade papers in a timely fashion, ask for signatures on schoolwork with low grades, and follow up quickly by email on any concerns. Sadly, the teachers at BCMA lack this practice. When parents and teachers connect, they are able to support student learning together. Technology has opened and enhanced communication opportunities between home and school. BCMA does all of its P.E. activities in the school gym (soccer, baseball, dodge-ball, etc). The students do not go outside. The whole year my child was at BCMA, she went outside a total of four times!!! This school is a place to develop an unhappy child with aniexity and stress.
