When I first brought my special needs daughter to this school (Idea South Flores) they had a an amazing teacher leading the rise classroom with 10 years experience, she unfortunately retired from teaching that year. Since then it's been a non stop rotation of educators that can't seem to get the right support. My daughter has been continually fighting with another scholar and it's turned physical. We recently received a phone call about my daughter getting kicked in the face by this scholar when we were assured an adult would be by my daughter to avoid this. When I spoke with my daughter about this she said there was only one educator present at the time and that educator was on her phone. We have tried to go through their chain of command in order to resolve this but no one has called or emailed back. When I do call the receptionist transfers me to someone one else that doesn't pick up the phone. The only priority this school has shown is to get kids to show up everyday and at least stay till 10am. My other experience with this school is we get calls from the educators complaining about my daughters behavior with little to no context, that's something a babysitter does not an educator. My daughter has structure at home so her behavior is amazing there. So when we get calls about her behavior with little to go we are left confused. We hear about her bad behavior but there is zero communication about what they're teaching her, the times shes in different classrooms, what her day to day is looking like. We sometimes get conflicting stories from the educators about her behavior, one educator will say she behaved poorly and the other will say she did amazing so if they can't even agree on these things how are we supposed to "work" on things with her. Every year there is a new rotation of staff which speaks volumes.

Staff and instructors have, for the most part, been extremely helpful and continuously in contact with parents to help create a strong foundation for student learning and safety.

Each classroom has two teachers, and it seems rather evident that one is always stronger than the other. of my scholars four main teachers, three of them are great. I am willing to bet that the other will not be teaching at IDEA S. Flores next year.

Too much would be the easy answer, but I feel the amount of homework my children receive will only help them prepare for life in a University setting. I do however wish that the scholars homework could be a little more self guided. Not only do I as a parent have to assist them with the rudimentary aspects, I am also required to read to them for 30 minutes a night. After dinner, regular work, reading, and hygiene bed time comes quick.

My son was bullied on the playground one day. I was immediately notified and told about the situation. They also handled the situation with the offending child quickly and efficiently. Both children still attend the schools and they get along nicely now.

I have two children attending IDEA S. Flores academy. Though the amount of homework and parent involvement required seems a bit excessive at times, I know my children are being driven to success. I have had nearly all positive experiences with the staff and teachers of this school, with bad communication the exception and not the norm. I know that I can get in contact with any teacher or administrator and my inquiries answered within 24 hours. There does seem to be a high level of attrition in the VP offices though.
