We are entering our 11th year at GDA, and we are so incredibly thankful for this school. All of the administrators and teachers, from pre-k up, are there because they want to be. They love the kids and it shows! There is a culture of wisdom, service, and discipleship that flows from top to bottom. My kids are called higher because of their classmates and teachers. Each of my 4 kids loves being there, and my husband and I have made wonderful friends through the community as well.
Because of the hybrid program and vigorous classical Christian curriculum, it's definitely a school for families who are looking for a specific type of education. Due to being a small school with limited resources, it's not a great fit for some learning disabilities or challenges, but we have found that the teachers are very much willing to work with kids and parents to help them as best they can. If you want a school that will challenge your kids, teach them to think critically and to love Jesus and people, this is the place for you!

GDA has been the best fit for our family and we have loved it for the past two years! We are so excited to be returning for our 3rd year. The school has the best community of parents and students and we are so blessed to be part of this group of parents. The hybrid model is great for our family and we love the home days AND the amazing teachers on school days. We wanted the classroom experience for our kids but not 5 days a week for younger grades. The ability to have time at home is perfect. And I dont have to come up with curriculum!

Gloria Deo has been the perfect fit for our family as we head into our fourth year. The school environment is loving, supportive, and community focused while the hybrid/university model allows for high parent involvement and family time on home days. The students classroom days and filled with discipleship opportunities, lots of outdoor time, social development, and a great academic learning environment with small class sizes. This model isnt for everyone, but its blessed us beyond what we imagined and we know it can bless other families too.

Wonderful school. Beautiful environment to educate children in biblical truth. Academics are top notch. Parents are fully involved. GDA has the best families around! Everyone is like minded in desiring a Christ-centered, creative, classical, collaborative education for their children.

GDA has been a fantastic tool to provide real spiritual growth and discipleship for our kids. We wanted a school that was not just Christian by tradition but taught our kids to think critically, understand truth, and articulate clearly. We have been at GDA for several years, and we are thrilled that the new administration shares these priorities and focuses on the development of Godly character in our children. The new Head of School's changes in the upper school, in particular, have created an environment where our kids are thriving. The teachers integrate a Christian worldview through every subject. I love that our kids are challenged academically but still have a deep love for learning. Even my high schooler comes home talking about what he learned in class and how interesting it is. They know their teachers personally, and their teachers are personally committed to their growth - both spiritually and academically. GDA is a university model school, with elementary kids attending two days per week, and older students attending additional days for increased instructional time. We love the additional time we get with our younger students so that we can participate in the joy and wonder of their childhood, while gradually preparing our older students for independence. We love the athletics program, also. They are competitive, but the coaches are focused on character growth. GDA is a great community of families who genuinely love and care for each other and has been an essential part of our efforts to raise children who are lifelong worshippers, lifelong learners, and lifelong servants.

My son has been at Gloria Deo for seven years. We are so thankful for the environment. We wanted a Christian education and have been a part of other good schools, but GDA is just different. The curriculum is very well thought out. The teachers invest so much into the kids and not just through education, but in their hearts. There is a joy on the campus that is unique and genuine and we could not be more thankful.

Gloria Deo is a blessing to our entire family. I have four children in both grammar and upper school. This is a place where children know they are loved. We have been here for four years now and it has been amazing to see the Lord at work. These last three years under new administration have proven to build stronger community, culture, and academics. Children sing on the decks and laugh in the multitude of outdoor space. Students participate in meaningful conversations that encourage them to think (something that is often lost in our current culture). 7-12th grade students have a House system that encourages service, mentorship and joyful unity. House leaders have faculty mentors that help them grow in their leadership abilities and their relationship with Christ. Morning devotions, which are open to parents, are very intentional and gospel-focused.
The home days with my younger students provide great bonding time for my family and I love being a part of their learning and growth. As they get older and more independent, they need more instructional time and GDA provides that. Each school day, students have a wise-time period in which teachers are available to help students when they struggle.
As a classical Christian school, Gloria Deo provides a humanities program that links theology, literature, and history together in a way that helps student see that God has been active throughout history and that they are part of his story.

I was a student at Gloria Deo from the time I was in fifth grade to my junior year of high school (yes, it really was that bad that I left right before my senior year). Over the years I watched it turn from a school that really loved its students and wanted us to succeed, to a place no one wanted to be, a constant reminder of stress and watching eyes. To my knowledge, the elementary school isnt bad, I know the Pre-K teachers that are still there I think, and they are super amazing. Im talking, specifically upper school. Maybe it didnt help that my mom was an administrator, but I always felt so watched and overwhelmed by the staff. They were constantly just waiting for you to do something wrong, and its almost like they loved reprimanding students. We all noticed it. They only allow their teachers to teach certain things a certain way. The woman in charge of handling the curriculum only cared about making it seem like we were doing a ton so we seemed smarter. I cant name a single book Ive read since the eighth grade because there are probably at least 30 (just for a literature class, so this is on top of all the other course work). My math teacher my junior year only prepared me for college in that she taught me how to teach myself. She told us multiple times that she didnt have time to grade our homework or prepare a lesson plan because she was too busy with her own kids. So, every day she would go up to the board, write down a single example of a problem, and expect us to do homework on our own. Then we graded it ourselves and all she did the entire year was record grades. Then when the entire class failed exams it was somehow our fault. All their good upper school teachers have left (theyre at the hybrid-program at Bracken now, so maybe check that out..) That school is crazy. I really could go on for days about all the messed up things that were done and said to me (like multiple staff members pressuring me into going to prom, after me stating multiple times that I did not want to, about a week after my prom date, who also went to that school, very tragically passed away during my freshman year. At least one of those staff members I know for sure still works there and is in a leadership position) Ive never been in a more unloving, stressful, overwhelming, FAKE Christian environment. It genuinely makes me sad because it used to be an amazing place, but, I hated being there. Please, please, please, do not put your children in this school.

My daughter has attended Gloria Deo for two years as a Logic student. She loves the school so much that she never wants to miss a day. She has made sweet, lasting friendships, and she loves the entire community and atmosphere of her school. She has received excellent God- centered instruction. Morning devotions have had a deep impact on her, and she has sought to apply the lessons she has been taught to her day to day life. I have seen tremendous spiritual growth. This is a small, sweet school where kids can be free from many of the troubles of the world around them. We love GDA!

We love GDA! We are finishing up our fifth year here, and we are so thankful for this community. Now more than ever, our children need to know how to think critically, and GDA helps them do that, through the lens of a biblical foundation. I love their partnership of educating my kids and teaching them to be people who love God and love others. The admin and teachers are wonderful, my kids have great friends, and I have become friends with other parents. It is a perfect fit for our family!

It is a small school with small class sizes. Individual attention is easier in a smaller class. As I mentioned before, parents are responsible for teaching as well in this collaborative school model. They likely know their childs needs best, which should improve the childs learning experience. All this said, the school does not have a special needs class or teacherits not that big or well-funded to provide special needs learning care for ADHD or Aspergers.

My child had a disagreement with another child and mocked the other child. The principal called both families together that evening. Lets just say my child does not mock others anymore.

Gloria Deo is one of the best things that has ever happened to our family. With its University Model, it has the perfect balance between homeschooling and a regular school. We had been looking for classical education for a while and didn't expect to find that in the Bulverde area! God fearing and loving teachers. Couldn't ask for more.
