Educational wise, my child is doing great. I think the school is doing good in the basic classes. But in my opinion they should put more electives, other classes like music, art, drama, lab or stuff like that for the students to be more rounded instead of been so strict on test/education if you know what i mean.
And another thing that bothers me is that they take recess away if a couple of students arent listening. Like 30 students in all and only 4 students arent listening then the rest that are they all pay the price to Not Go to recess. I feel thats unfair and it doesnt teach nothing to the ones that arent listening. My opinion.
My child likes the teachers on every grade his been.

My son was treated horribly violated my son's 504. Because my child was white he was treated horribly the administration bullied my child called him a horrible kid to his face and teachers refused to work with him when he needed help. Gave work without help or again following his 504.

Toxic environment. Not safe. Unprofessional and unorganized. I'll just leave it at that but the list goes on and on...

The idea school system is the worst. -1 million rating. They are so pre conditioned to think violence is normal that they let it happen. What's worse is they delete negative reviews to make themselves look better. Its disgusting.

They are in school until 4 every day. The homework they receive takes minimum an hour. So they are done sometime around 6. They only only care about ratings. The principle at a. previous idea school told me that point blank.

The teachers here are completely oblivious. They do not report bullying or abuse because it is so normal. Its sickening and maddening.

My son has odd and is being tested for autism. I told them that something was wrong and they did nothing. Now that I have moved my son to a better school he is thriving and has had no problems in over a year.

I cannot say this enough! These schools are NOT safe!! My son was jumped so many times I couldnt count them. Nothing was done. Nothing. And the school is deleting reviews.

My son was not bullied at Idea Walzem that I am aware of. He is also a loner even in his new school.

If you have a smart kid, he/she will do great, but if your child struggles academically and needs extra help then their one way approach will not work for your child. My son did well academically with that approach, but his friend struggled with that approach which cause great frustration for his friend's parents.

I personally had no problems with the leadership at the school, but then again I am not that demanding because if I wanted something I would just do it myself.
Posted: February 23, 2017
I think they do not allow the kids to be kids, but little adults and that is hard for young children. He was not emotionally happy at Idea Walzem and that is not acceptable for an elementary school student. There is never a reason to take away recess.

There was one teacher I thought that was not a good fit for my son and once he was not in her class he thrived more.
Posted: February 23, 2017
At the time when my son attended I felt there was too much homework, but now that he does not have any homework I can see the benefit of the homework packets with the reinforcement of concepts learned that week.

My son hated going there because it was too strict, but he did well there academically. Since we moved to Maryland, he is ahead of his peers in reading comprehension and science. The math is the same across the board with common core.

There is no organization at this "school". The teachers are not certified. They come up that they are not "fully certified" but will be...in my book almost is not the same as is!
Considering on taking my kid out and going back to Hartman. IDEA has no Idea of what they are doing.
