My experience with this school gives me mixed emotions. On one hand, it's an excellent school with excellent opportunities for students. The classes are much more managed than the classrooms of regular high schools in the area. The students who attend Early College are students who take their education seriously and are striving to achieve excellence. That said, they are stressed beyond what a high school student should have to be. By the time students are in 11th grade, they are taking a full time college load and 4 high school classes that are often college level as well. It's equivalent to a college student taking 8 college classes each semester. Stressed is an understatement. Burnout is an issue.
The counselors are nice, but I'm not sure why they are unable to listen to students and get them in the classes they want/need. My scholar is going into the medical field and it has been known for many years. My scholar's counselor failed to put him/her in classes for science majors. This means my scholar gets to take several classes over again. There were several instances where my scholar didn't have a class at all for weeks after classes started. This was because the counselor did not follow up with the scholar, the scholar did not follow up with the counselor, and no one seemed to know what anyone was doing. In hindsight, my scholar would have likely gained more valuable experiences attending a regular high school and going to the career center.

The students are always overstressed, admin is very unorganized and notices are always last minute, while other schools get celebrations they rarely do something for the kids to have fun and relax , and making children wait in line outside the school as you check for phones 1 by one with 20-30 degree weather is diabolical. The bus is never on ti.e for drop off sometimes they don't get home until 6pm . The only good thing is that last year they seemed to have better food than other campuses , they do pay for SAT and college classes.

This is a great school 10/10 highly recommend. This school is small so all of the students are family and all of the students and staff know each other. Another benefit of it being small is that we get more freedom than all of the other schools. You may think you're missing out with sports but we do a "Friday Night Lights" every month where we compete in one sport and you make teams. The clubs are also really fun and very diverse. The staff really love their jobs and their students. Each grade has its own councilor who knows all of their students and has a good relationship with them. I'm not really sure about special needs but I do know that they have a specific teacher for the students who are deaf. This school is a drama free zone and I guarantee you will find friends at this school because everyone knows everyone.
